    Wow, hitting a low ball with this technique is awesome. I struggled all my life with low balls thinking it was because of my height and clown feet. Low balls are now an offensive shot not defensive, with this technique giving awesome control and HUGE spin. Thanks sooo much.

    Particularly high balls give my students fits. Great video, but I would have addressed how the student's not hitting arm drops and even pulls towards the body, creating an opposing force to his hitting arm, which kills that momentum. He needs more rotation from the core to generate effortless power. His non-hitting arm is actually acting as a brake, and both arms are even crossing at times.

    For someone just getting into tennis that feels comfortable hitting a hard topspin forehand when the ball is perfect height this video is really informative. Learning to be aggressive on these low and high balls is going to really help. Thanks for the videos

    Really great video, usually, instead of playing the high balls i move back a bit and get to play low balls always, which doesn't cross the net everytime, woul1d try this tomorrow, thanks. 😍

    Yeah I'm at that point that it's not enough to return those high loopy balls with a high loopy ball what i need is more like drive to finish my points would love a video on that

    • @ViniAndradeMusic
      @ViniAndradeMusic 6 лет назад

      When the ball is really high you'll might not have enough drive to finish a point. So, you better return the ball a little less high and a little faster than it came to you.

    It was a brief video but looked like Phil was finishing his follow through around the mid point of his shoulder with racket head facing down. Do you rec that even when trying to create shape starting that high? Didn't get discussed in the vid.

    • @EssentialTennis

      He's a strong 4.5, in some areas probably closer to 5.0. Levels vary quite bit depending on how competitive a geographical location is.

      Chirag dude he’s taking very controlled swings with managing his technique in mind. No way can you judge ntrp accurately off of strokes from a lesson. Also, east coast USTA? Come on dude...

    kirby can u please upload sth exactly like this for backhands -two handed. I m fine with forehands but my opponents hit loopy high topspins on backhands where i end up slicing. i ve a good slice though but wd like to see how to effectively use two handed backhsnd. I m an ambi but play with left hsnd with two handed backhsnd. I can generate equal amount of power with my right hand while hitting my two hander. i was thinking to try doing exactly same on bzckhsnd. pls advise.

      same concept. start high, finish higher. won't be powerful up there but can be safe and effective (and maybe they will do a similar bh (2h and 1h) video.

    I am a bit confused because in all your videos you advise not to use the wrist when hitting forhand topspin. However, in this video it appears the wrist is the main mechanics that lifts the ball over the net. Maybe it will be good to teach when to use and when not to use the wrist as side action.

    • @ldeue4837
      @ldeue4837 5 лет назад

      the wrist is used more on a lower ball, if you take you hand and extend it out in front of you, you'll notice it can spin a bit more than 180 degrees, if you take your hand (with a supplemented wrist) point your fingers towards the ground you'll notice you can spin your hand and make your fingers point towards the sky by flicking the wrist. This is the action that can get you some extra height and spin on those lower balls you need to spin into the court.

    his footwork seems inefficient when he was coming up for the low balls and he doesnt really drive and use his body that much(his shots are short usually),i do similar sometimes, will there be a video on this or ones you have? and what are your opinions of teaching forehands with so much topspin like he seemed to br hitting, i spent years hitting unecessary topspin but now am working on hitting flatter still getting topspin obviously but i notice a not of youtube videos focus too much on topspin and can misguide new players on the depth and effortless power they should be getting also dependant on age and racquet weight ect...

    • @ldeue4837
      @ldeue4837 5 лет назад

      There's a reason the Spanish play like they do. High over the net, tremendous footwork, always hit with good topspin. High margin, less errors. 3 shot is still the average at the pro level(I'm pretty sure)

      I disagree, i think these videos are great. It's edited well and it's good to see a player progress and overcome common challenges which club players like myself face.

      the longer the better; as long as each minute is not just talking and no progression but thats not the case
