I am just addicted to you and your channel. Thank you so much for being so articulate, and so thorough in your instruction. 70 yr old. Played HS tennis #1 singles in the early 70’s. Arthritic knees giving me grief but still love the game. Cheers from Santa Fe.
In person or via video analysis, she really does a great job of taking the best patterns and habits of tour pros (and other very high level players) that can work for recreational players, and integrating it into your game without tearing everything that works for you down.
Very good Meike ! There isn't a single video where I don't laugh or smile because you're actually really funny. Excellent tips and at the same time perfect demonstrations.
i just found your channel. I must say your explanation is clear and easy to understood, while you explain all the details and aspects of the chained movements. However i think court level footage is much more enjoyable for me, and much easier to visualize from a players pov on the court. Just as at 15:10 .
Hah this is great timing. I've had back to back matches recently where I struggled with an opponent that has this play style. I recorded myself and noticed I did exactly what you pointed out about standing too far in the court.
1:14 I notice this all the time with my students at the rec level. I also tell them to back up. But they are so afraid of the short ball. I tell them that at their level they don't get dropshotted (not a word). But they indeed do get these accidental short balls. Mishits etc. Still I try to explain they will eventually win a lot more points backing up and taking the ball after it's highest point when it's coming down.
@@MeikeBabelTennis that too, but most of my recreational lower level students actually tend to position themselves inside the court and don't even back up to the baseline after a shorter ball (approach is also to scary but teach that too of course). So they get stuck in nomans land.
Thank you Meike, so useful! I’m a club team player but there are loads of frustratingly perpetual Lobbers at basic club play sessions. I always wondered why I had trouble playing these people when on paper I shouldn’t have a problem. I shall try these techniques out ASAP.😊
The ball has really high pace right off the bounce and is hard to control. The change of direction is tough enough of a regular ball so keeping it cross court is higher %
I just played in a tournament match and my opponent hit high balls that I could not return properly. Thanks for this excellent and comprehensive video which addressed my issues. Will apply your advice at tomorrow’s match!

Hey Meike, good video. Something I’ve seen from juniors up to college tennis is that some people (especially the girls/women) have a two-handed slice & two-handed BH Volley. I’ve never seen a channel make a video about this. Could you do one?
My first question is do you hit it between shoulder and hip. Often times, when you hit it above your shoulder the racket face is open and that's why the balls go deep.
Yes, I'm actually switching between the ezone 98 and the Vcore pro 97 all the time. I love them both and I can't make up my mind. And since I don't really have to choose I'll play with both :-)
@@MeikeBabelTennis Great, have fun. Btw i love your videos, clear and very detailed explenations with a good vibe and great energy from beginning to end of these longer instructions. Me myself i was eyeing with the VCore Pro 100. I bought a ProKennex already cause i have arm problems since 4 weeks, wrist and shoulder pain, from overuse. I know you have also shoulder problems, is the Ezone as comfortable as the Vcore Pro? Maybe you can make a comparison video for these 2 rackets. But i wish that you would do a video for player with arm problems. What are the essential things we need to look for after injury and before restart with plating? Equipment wise: whats important, static weight or swingweight? Lighter or heavier racket? Low RA stiffness and higher twistweight important? Which strings to pair it with? Does a soft racket work with soft strings or is this too much of a downgrade? But also some tipps for rebeginning on the court, what to look for? Which drills are important or what else can one do on the technic to not reintroduce the pain? Thanks, greetings from Stuttgart.
High balls on the forehand are no fun but I tend to get them back. It is the high balls to my one handed backhand that makes me want to go home and cry in my comfort burger.😥 🍔
Haha, yeah I hated those too! I'm working on a video for that. High Balls to the Backhand. In the meantime, here is a "specialty shot" ruclips.net/video/8AXmhbrM-4o/видео.html
@@MeikeBabelTennisYes, slice is one good option. Look forward to that upcoming video and the options to also drive it back with the onehander. I never learned the two-hander but keep hearing that two handers deal better. Not clear why a twohander is superior for dealing with high balls.
Here’s a video that explains the heavy topspin How to increase topspin on your forehand to hit heavy and deep - Tennis lesson (+ drills!) ruclips.net/video/HvZFMaB6iMs/видео.html
Hi really good couple of strategies to deal with those high balls.... is there merit in a third riskier option , when playing against fast players who come in behind their shot I have found that instead of waiting for the ball to drop, moving in , especially if they didn't get it deep enough , and charge the ball and take it mid air which takes more time away from your opponent but also takes time away from you ,so you have to be committed right from the start to get to the ball. Sometimes this can shakeup the player as they have far less time to react. Thanks peter

Fantastic lesson especially the emphasis on footwork patterns and how to choose which forehand to hit depending on the incoming ball

It's all about footwork. Most players will just focus on their swing path.
hmm. But from 15.54 min you are walking behind. Not doing the cross step. Seems not consistent to me..
that happened in a non-hitting stage. the ball was still flying toward the opponent.
