  • Installing the turbosmart Blow off valve into the Ford Explorer St to make some wonderful sound. I've seen lots of BOV videos' but I have not seen an install video. Here we go, now, time to take it back to the track and see how it sounds. Then back to the Dyno to see what power the new intercooler makes.

    Through that K and N in the trash and put a stock filter back in. I have had few of those filters new out the box let dirt through. Drive it a couple thousand miles and look down the intake tube you will see dust and dirt down it. Like the install though thanks.

    Did you just cap the 1” hose for the stock return to the intake tube?

    I have seen other install videos where they have to remove that hose coming off the BOV down the the intake and cap it off, is that not necessary, and you can just swap the BOV's and be done? Thanks!

    • @SouthdownGarage
      @SouthdownGarage  2 месяца назад

      It depends on if you plan to use an aftermarket one on the cold pipe out of the intercooler, then it wil be necessary.
      For just swapping the factory one out for this turbo smart unit, its not necessary.

      @@SouthdownGarage Thanks for the reply. So if I leave the stock intake, I can just install as you did, if I upgrade to a cold air intake, I need to remove that hose and cap that end? I am mechanically a dummy, so apologies in advance for the ignorance. Also, what would you suggest for the best plug and play tuner? Thanks again.

      @@kprimm83 yes, you can just do as I did, and worry about capping later if you get a charge pipe that has a BOV.

      @ultimos5 are you asking about the bov or the air filter.
      Neither one should hurt your engine. It's a personal preference really!
      I would always recommend to properly maintain your air filter, inspecting it when you clean. Not doing that, could cause damage to your engine.

    It sounds like you only put one blow off valve on don’t you need to put the other one on the other turbo and hopefully you’re using Rotella T6 5W 40 every 4300 miles and of course 93 octane

    • @SouthdownGarage
      @SouthdownGarage  2 месяца назад

      You only need the one BOV. It ties into the crossover pipe.
      From 2021 1/2 Ford removed the BOV completely.
