  • This uncommonly sung (in my experience) carol is enriched with deep meaning for us today. Each verse ending talks about how we can relate to the experiences of the wisemen who visited Jesus all those years ago. May we also be led to Jesus; may we also seek Him and His mercy; may we also bring our costliest gifts to Him. Then, the final verse is all about us. Keep us in the narrow way, Lord and lead us home when you return. Such blessed promises that make it real to us as well. When Jesus came, He did come for us. And, we can remember that at any time of the year!
God bless all the listeners of this channel. I was amazed to note that the channel has just gone over 2 million views in the lifetime of the channel. Incredible to think! Thank you so much for your continued encouragement and support.
As With Gladness Men of Old
    Verse 1
As with gladness men of old
    Did the guiding star behold,
As with joy they hailed its light,
    Leading onward, beaming bright,
So, most gracious Lord, may we
    Evermore be led to Thee.
    2
As with joyful steps they sped
    To that lowly manger bed,
There to bend the knee before
Him whom heav’n and earth adore,
So may we with willing feet
    Ever seek Thy mercy seat.
    3
As they offered gifts most rare
At that manger rude and bare,
So may we with holy joy,
Pure, and free from sin’s alloy,
    All our costliest treasures bring,
Christ, to Thee our heav’nly King.
    4
    Holy Jesus, every day
    Keep us in the narrow way;
And, when earthly things are past,
Bring our ransomed souls at last
Where they need no star to guide,
Where no clouds Thy glory hide.
