What if an AI watched the statue from a camera on the soldier?
If I don't recall wrong, test logs with SCP 173 declare that it attacks all living life, whether it's a human or animal, but AIs are not actual living creatures, they are the mechanic and virtual representation of a life form, so it wouldn't work. Not at least with today's AIs

@999zappion If you mean something like SCP 999 ("Tickle Monster") or SCP 131 ("Eyepods"), they do count as living creatures, and if SCP 173 is under these anomalies' direct line of sight, it won't be able of moving.
In fact, SCP 131 ("Eyepods") are presented in the Unity version of SCP: Containment Breach official game, and they will follow you as if they were your pets, and will help you out when close to SCP 173, by immobilizing it!

@@999zappion Well, there was a footage from the inside CCTV of SCP 173's containment chamber, where SCP 173 is shown moving on its own, from corner to corner of the reinforced room, so I believe that if we got that footage, then watching through camera footage counts as indirect line of sight, though not locking SCP 173 in place, and letting it free of movement.
I guess it works with the same for both humans and animals through this perspective aswell.

This was a great short, but as a tip in the future, I think you should add some sort of radio and/or muffled audio effect for a guy clearly masked up. Just nicely improves the immersion for only a bit extra effort.

Why do people keep making new 173 designs the old one is fine
Because the original image was taken down since it was used without permission from the artist who created the statue and the design cannot be used for commercial purposes
because some nerd tried to destroy SCP and monetize it for himself after getting greedy
