Yes, and I’d imagine this happens a LOT to nail salons. You see in those Karen videos-where customers from certain communities try to scam poor immigrant nail salon workers…
People with major injuries often don't even get $9,900 dollars in pain and suffering. The judge was so annoyed because the lawsuit was absolutely frivolous. The pain is equivalent to a minor hang nail. I feel bad that the defendants had to deal with this. Even though the case was absurd, it's still scary as hell to be sued for so much money.
But she stated out saying, I asked for a gel manicure. Then during testimony she says I asked for fake nails. Where are the pictures, medical bills etc? And her mother is annoying asf.
There is a acrylic that is called Gel powder. It is actually the same as acrylic powder. I think i get where she got the gel enhancement idea from. But a manicure is 22. A full set is 32. She got a full set and still say they over charge her 10 bucks ????
I'm a nail tech. There is no way you're getting gel EXTENSIONS for $22. Thats a basic mani or a mani w gel polish if they are running a promotion. These ppl expected somthing for nothing & were upset when they didn't get it. We try to avoid cuts and safety & sanitation are one of the big things we are trained on. If you are cut its not good but there are procedures that are followed (which it sounds like they did), and if your tools are clean & sterile everything should be ok. If you're not happy with the work you can ask for a refund & we will stop right there. The only time that this situation would warrant this kind if lawsuit is if the cut got infected & the person needed medical care to get it to heal, and there were real actual damages. That kind of incident is very rare. It is encouraged for salons have liability insurance though, so if this kind of thing happens it doesn't break you & you don't end up in this kind of situation, having to go to court. My guess is they tried to scam the insurance first & when that didn't work, they came to ppls court. They were probably hoping the salon would pay up to avoid being seen in a negative way on tv.
@@sugarbabysugarhoneyiced-t557 basically the same as getting fake acrylic nails (either with a tip or sculpted) except instead of acrylic material they use builder/hard gel to form the nail
That's what i was thinking. Back when i got my nails done acrylic were$35 or 40 and gel is higher and every cut i got was because of the drilling but every salon cleaned it up immediately. Some people will do anything to try and get some money
Send their pictures to every nail salon across the country with "warning they will sue you". Sounds like the daughter did not know the difference between gel polish or acrylic nails. And how did a tiny tiny cuticle cut stop her from an audition for modeling?? What a joke. I bet they do this on the regular, complain about the smallest thing and screw others out of payment. If the table was turned and they were getting sued for that amount over that little bitty accident i bet they might would feel differently. Going to get your nails done or a pedicure you kinda know that there might be or might not get a tiny cut from the cuticle cutters. Its happened to me a few times. I guess i should have told them after they done all the work and finished im not paying you bc you cut me and ruined my life. 😂 this case should have been laughed at when they filed it.
When it started and the VO said that, I thought maybe she hand model that had certain jobs booked but then lost because of her hands...but no...she simply OPTED not to go TO AUDITIONS and thinks she can get the money?!?!
The judge was fine. She did a good job. I love the guy at the end stood up for the judge and said “you better go” 😂. They were looking for a pay day and are throwing a fit for not getting one. They look childish and money hungry!
I agree! Also, compared to how ridiculous the scammer mother-daughter pair was, I found the final interview w/ the two reps from the nail salon so heartwarming. It reminds us how wonderful it is when immigrants join our great nation-and have faith in the country AND be grateful. It was truly a touching moment.
Yea, and you can bet she won't be hearing back from those people she ignored while she ate tylenol and put ointment on her finger and cried in a corner
I came here to the comments before even watching all the way...for this ! What's going on with her bangs on her wig ? Mama should have straighten them up for tv
Ma'am, your daughter doesn't have what it takes to be a model. Models do their job under the worst conditions. Fyi going to a casting call doesn't ensure that you'll get the job.
Yea I was waiting for the judge to say what proof do you have your daughter would have gotten these acting jobs? If she can’t speak for herself and we clearly see she’s not a model then the 9k part of the lawsuit is a crock of shit.
The judge was irate? Ummm, she must not watch the People's Court because Judge Milian was oddly calm during this case compared to how she usually gets.
I know, Milian could’ve said a lot worse and has. This case was super stupid and ridiculous. Judge Judy would’ve laughed directly in their faces and called them fools. “We’re done!”
Most ridiculous case. It’s a small nick , they didn’t take off a finger! The Mom has a nasty attitude and I’m glad they only got the $32 dollars back and NOT $9,900. That amount could bankrupt a small nail salon.
I guarantee you the mom wrote a script of how this testimony was going to unfold, you could tell how she kept looking at her daughter as she was talking. What a sham! Oh and the mom was as unlikable as they come.
I love Doug! He said “I think you better go”, lol The mother and the daughter both seemed like airheads. The daughter could not complete a sentence without looking for input from her mother. Every time I hear the words “Gel Enhancements” I’m going to think of these two, smh
Whooooa!! That mom’s childish nod to JM and then the snotty “sure”. 😳 Also, I did Cosmo school and that wasn’t a cut on her nail. That’s an indent marking where the back of the fake nail was sitting upon growing out. Grows/buffs out with a file. It is also not abnormal to get bleeding from the files. At best, she could have just got a refund. This is absolutely ridiculous and makes them look insane and like petty, rude, garbage. A full set, especially gel.. you won’t get for $22. That’s just a mani gel polish change. Nothing about fake nails. I mean these two gals. 🤯😡
Yeah I'm like girl, that's just the groove when you take the acrylic nail off, cause acrylic be wearing the nails down. Then she had the nerve to sue for lost wages on a casting call when you don't get paid unless you actually get called, most casting calls are open to anyone with a pulse

Pain and suffering? For a cut? Did the defendant say maybe 10 words? As someone else said, this is the stupidest lawsuit I have seen on this show and that is really saying something.
I had fake nails for 15 years and it happens often when the drill burns you or cuts you a little less than a paper cut.The most you can get is $5 or $10 off.Its a risk you take and it’s not a bad technician.
Exactly! And who's to say she was moving around a bunch or texting on her phone and that's why she got cut. I took one of my daughters to get our nails done today, and it's amazing how some people are glued to their phone. Even while getting a mani.
LOL I understand that at 21 you're still kinda young & your parents can still control you, but the daughter needs to have enough dignity /self respect to not let her mom embarrass her like this! SMH

I think this was mostly about her mother pushing her into this lawsuit. I'm thinking that she got in her daughter's ear and got her worked up over the whole situation and it came down to this. And most likely the daughter didn't want to speak against her mother either especially in court. You could clearly see the difference between the behavior of the mother and the daughter. The pain is equivalent to a minor hang nail. I feel bad that the defendants had to deal with this. Even though the case was absurd, it's still scary as hell to be sued for so much money.
I wish she would put that purse down.
I know I was like WTH
Me too damn😂
I was thinking the same thing 🤣🤣🤣
😲 lol went to comments 1st now I'm more irritated by that purse than her mama's attitude 😃
Fr making it feel unsafe
Fake nails are what we call a “full set” she got exactly what she asked for 🤦🏾♀️🤣
Right like I’m confused lmaoo, & how did she not question when they were painting her nails without putting any acrylics on after fifteen minutes
But she stated out saying, I asked for a gel manicure. Then during testimony she says I asked for fake nails. Where are the pictures, medical bills etc? And her mother is annoying asf.
Rt FULL SET would’ve been simple .
Exactly😂 they was just trying to come up smh
There is a acrylic that is called Gel powder. It is actually the same as acrylic powder. I think i get where she got the gel enhancement idea from. But a manicure is 22. A full set is 32. She got a full set and still say they over charge her 10 bucks ????
Lol, after the case the mom was talking like she was a customer who lost an argument with a manager. This is gold.
I have watched this case at least 10 times because I am just so amazed how self entitled some people are
Same! I had to rewatch it
I smell SCAM and so did Judge Milian!
$10,000 for a finger?? C'mon smh.
I think this was mom's idea. Her attitude sucks.
I love that the salon owners didn’t really talk much because the judge knew what the other girls were doing
@Kimberly Morris thank you, & yes you are right, you can have them sign a liability waiver
What are gel extensions?
This >>>>>
@@sugarbabysugarhoneyiced-t557 basically the same as getting fake acrylic nails (either with a tip or sculpted) except instead of acrylic material they use builder/hard gel to form the nail
That's what i was thinking. Back when i got my nails done acrylic were$35 or 40 and gel is higher and every cut i got was because of the drilling but every salon cleaned it up immediately. Some people will do anything to try and get some money
That mom thought they was about to come up on 9 grand right quick. Please exit left ma'am 🤣🤣
The mom is crazy she said the judge was irate. Wtf!! The judge was wayyy nicer than judge Judy wld have been to their azzez
Right!? lol
Why must y’all compare judges,, they have different names, so of course they gonna have different responses and reaction,!!

Grifters gonna grift...
Great life lessons you are teaching your daughter!
She lost out on "modeling" jobs? LOLLLLL......yet she is suing for near 10 grand ? Please just looking for a payday.
OMG the nail girl CAN'T be serious! Modeling job? For what dog food? 😂😂
I've been watching for 2 minutes and I already know this!
See how many modeling jobs she can get after this
hand model?!
Yes. I would have said, "Or the proposed damages were frivolous." But I'm glad he said, "You haven't been to court much, have you? You better go."
LOVE HOW THE HOST AT THE END KICKED THE MOM “OUT” !! 👍
Didn't even ANSWER her casting calls, that's very telling. Mom is a piece of work for SURE. "I think you better go." YES!
Yea, and you can bet she won't be hearing back from those people she ignored while she ate tylenol and put ointment on her finger and cried in a corner
So Karen’s aren’t just white ladies with “that” haircut 😁 The mom 🤦♂️
Karen’s have no race.
I came here to the comments before even watching all the way...for this ! What's going on with her bangs on her wig ? Mama should have straighten them up for tv
Daughters bangs
Heheh
You mean, "Karens" not "Karen's" STUPID!
“You haven’t been to court very often” 😂😂😂
Ma'am, your daughter doesn't have what it takes to be a model. Models do their job under the worst conditions. Fyi going to a casting call doesn't ensure that you'll get the job.
🎯🎯🎯🎯
Amen!! Busted feet, too Lil shoes, cold weather…. Sadly, this new generation is entitled.
THIS 💯💪
Yea I was waiting for the judge to say what proof do you have your daughter would have gotten these acting jobs? If she can’t speak for herself and we clearly see she’s not a model then the 9k part of the lawsuit is a crock of shit.
@@paige4128 no offense the mom is from your Gen I bet. The mom is the worst of them all.
The judge was irate? Ummm, she must not watch the People's Court because Judge Milian was oddly calm during this case compared to how she usually gets.
If she feels she’s irate than you haven’t met Judge Judy
I know, Milian could’ve said a lot worse and has. This case was super stupid and ridiculous. Judge Judy would’ve laughed directly in their faces and called them fools. “We’re done!”
Most ridiculous case. It’s a small nick , they didn’t take off a finger! The Mom has a nasty attitude and I’m glad they only got the $32 dollars back and NOT $9,900. That amount could bankrupt a small nail salon.

I'm really glad about that too!

Ridiculous lawsuit please that young lady is not that good looking to even be a model. Great job judge. Moms are not always the brightest😂
Whooooa!! That mom’s childish nod to JM and then the snotty “sure”. 😳
Also, I did Cosmo school and that wasn’t a cut on her nail.
That nasty mother got off easy. They should have went to Judge Judy’s courtroom with that attitude lol
Yeah I'm like girl, that's just the groove when you take the acrylic nail off, cause acrylic be wearing the nails down. Then she had the nerve to sue for lost wages on a casting call when you don't get paid unless you actually get called, most casting calls are open to anyone with a pulse
Yes the pinky was cut for sure but the rest were from the acrylics.
Being a licensed nail tech this case TRIGGERED 😤 me on a WHOLE DIFFERENT LEVEL! Baybee! I would be steaming in that court room 😂 wasting my damn time! And got the nerve to sue for 10fuckingK! BYE ✌🏽 😘
It's not uncommon to have bleeding from the files? Umm.. no ma'am. That's wrong!
I don't know how Judge Milan could look so serious while asking the plaintiff to explain the $9000 lawsuit for a scratch. Like, I would have bust out laughing.
Judges usually have seen it all. The naked maid case comes to mind so she was numb to stupid stuff.

Did ur nails get weak after having fake nails all that time tho
SMH
They both appear to have that narcissistic, stuck up mindset. All about beauty, but when it comes to brains, that cornbread is half cooked...🤦🏽♀️
Is that a thing? Normal healthy boundaries are set since teenage years.
@@kevans0210 or maybe they’re wanting to please themselves or in the case of a real model, look good for casting calls. If you’re worth 10k a month, you’re not going to a ratchet $33 special salon.
The mother seems to the the issue. I have a feeling the daughter didn’t want to be there and doesn’t want to be a model.
Naw... its not that simple. That girl was groomed by her controlling manipulative mother her whole life. She's been stripped of her own identity. The mom lives through the daughter. It's going to take a long time before that girl learned to stand up for herself.

OMG. That mom. That poor child growing up with her.
dumbest thing I ever seen, girl need to toughen up if she cries over a little cut. God help the paper manufacturing companies should she ever get a paper cut. Million dollar lawsuits!!
This is out of control. This is why the courts are so overburdened. All these frivolous lawsuits shouldn’t be allowed to be filed. This is absolutely ridiculous!
The Plaintiff and her mother should have stayed in their state for their small claims case, because I am positive the ruling would had been the same. The only difference is, the Plaintiff and her mother wouldn't have made a complete ass of themselves for the world to see as they did on The People's Court.
And no. There's no way she can pull in nearly 10K on modeling jobs. If she were to, we'd be talking about at least a 100 modeling jobs, which I highly doubt she had that many offers. They just wanted a hefty windfall. The mother proved it by badmouthing the Judge and her daughter uttering the words "this is bullshit" after the final ruling.
