Love this video! How amazing to see the effort you put into getting the footage and all the editing to make it smooth. This is my kind of race! Thank you Jamil!
Love this event! 🙏Grateful to all the volunteer, race director, organizers, fellow athletes for an epic adventure on this very special course. Especially all that came out to cheer and support the athletes right to the end🌟🌟🌟🌟❤️
Man, the effort you put into getting so much video of all the different stages of the race!!!!! Awesome job! Can't imagine doing that in the rain, with the bottom climb section all in slimy mud. Brutal. I ran it as a junior back in '78 when it was an unknown event, other than for us Alaskans. Have been wanting to go back and race the full thing (talk is cheap!). Tough race to get a ticket for.
Outstanding editing on this video ! I had to check out this competition on RUclips because of the recent story I learned about that older dude that disappeared in the mountain and he was never found. Crazy sad but this looks incredible..
Thank you for this! Contrary to some of the folks in the comments, I scanned the peanut gallery for the name of the song😅love it, appreciate all you do!
Wow, that was unbelievable! Seems like they have a bit of a Javelina vibe going on there. Thanks for the epic coverage. Would like to hear more, about how you were able to get so many different vantage points covered.
I wish running channels stopped using generic background music for every second of running, i would much rather just hear the sound of the footsteps, especially in such a technical race as this.
I think the best is a mix between raw sounds when they are meaningful and some music when it serves the atmosphere. I also think that the choice of music is kind of a trademark by the channel, so the atmosphere is consistent and helps the narrative. I also don't know how hard it is to get good sound out there, especially in that weather. But yes, raw sounds of nature and runners are awesome!
the music Jamil chooses is definitely in the trademark style of Run Steep Get High, and has been a staple of the vlog since day 1 (almost 6 years now). find another running vlog to complain about, but not this one.
The supply chain shortages have hit Alaska hard. When do you think they will have shirts again?
Lol
That 81 Years Old Champ took away all my excuses for the next 30+ years!!!!
Love this video! How amazing to see the effort you put into getting the footage and all the editing to make it smooth. This is my kind of race! Thank you Jamil!
The way I would immediately trip and roll down that hill. These guys are insane

That was incredible!!! That 81 year old is my hero!! Great video!
Total Respect to the 81 year old Champ.
Me living in the Netherlands biggest hill is the speedbumb.

This video was incredible. I felt so much stress watching the runners in the downhill, I had to continue to remind myself to relax. What a race!
Great video, such a savage course !
Excellent downhill footage. Thanks for the coverage!
Love the content. Thank you for sharing.
Looks like so much fun!
Crazy race! Great footage
I did this in the 90s while stationed in Fairbanks. Also the Annilhator in Nenana
Tops are optional in this race then 🤣
Great descending, great video 👍
Thanks so much for sharing this awesome race with us!!
How to absolutely destroy your quads im guessing!!🤣
Wow! What a race!! Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you for this! Contrary to some of the folks in the comments, I scanned the peanut gallery for the name of the song😅love it, appreciate all you do!
My quads were crying just watching the descent down the scree
That does not look like fun to me. But good on the 81 year old finishing his 51st consecutive, amazing. Thanks for sharing.
He doesn't look or run like an 81 year old..He's brilliant..
I'm not sure I'd want to race it but I'd love to climb it some day.
What an amazing and challenging race!
my ankle hurts just from watching this video hahah
HOW FUN !!!!
So..............when're you going to do it?
Will you be running this race in the future?
I hope to!
Kudos to the 80+s dudes,
Holy quad killer Batman
It looks like you could roll from the top all the way back to town if you're not careful.
Similar to the UK style Fell racing courses
It looks epically scary.

Had one person at the start / finish and all the rest was me on course with two cameras hustling 😅
@@runsteepgethigh Wow! Well, you got a workout, for sure!
My life goal is to be like that 81 yo gentleman
exactly my thoughts
Yes! I'd take that at 61.
Dakota Jones, number one in the shirt division.
Is the prize a wheel of cheese?
the filing is beautiful but the music is so wrong its hard to watch
Epic
What was the real time finishes of some of the 1st few finishers? That clock seen at the finish line was dialed into something else.
Searching up the race results, looks like the clock was probably real time. First place finish was 43:27, second at 46:00, third at 46:09.
Yes time of day
@@runsteepgethigh Thanks for the reply. Thanks for being there doing a fine job recording that exceptional event.
What is the distance?
Pretty sure it's only a 5K, but it's like 3000 ft of elevation gain. Seems like a beast of a course.
@@eddardsnark1548 Correct. And about 900m from the start/finish to the base of the mountain.
Would've liked this without the music, but hey

Worst music I have ever heard on a youtube video. And thats against some pretty good competition. Ruined the whole thing.
Really? I actually super enjoyed it! 😁😁😁😁
