I remember this storm in Norwich. It was the best storm I’ve seen for years. I was out recording it for ages as it raged over the city. I believe there was also a weather phenomena known as a ‘heatburst’ during the event as well. At about quarter past ten there was a brilliant flash of lightning immediately followed by a terrific crash of thunder. A house had been struck on Ipswich road not that far from where I was. Excellent video of a memorable night. Thank you. ⚡️⚡️⚡️
I do remember it turning very humid as the storm approached and hit us. You normally expect a thunderstorm to clear the air but it turned seemingly even more sticky and oppressive. Heat burst would explain that.
Awesome stuff. We had storms on and off all night here. I remember the main cell approaching us from the south and hearing the constant rumbling getting steadily louder. Between the storms and the humidity I got no sleep that night. 😆
I live in Norwich and remember this storm well, I have never seen one so intense. The heat was unbearable before it came over and once it did the temperature had dropped by at least four degrees!
Reasonably impressive by UK standards. If you were in NE Somerset you'd get FA - we haven't had a thunderstorm (apart from the occasional distant flash or rumble way out over Wiltshire) for at least 3 years.
The day before my birthday, an absolute shock to me, I watched it happen
Had one at Basingstoke at half 1 in the morning and when I first heard the thunder it scared the shit out of me

I remember this storm, it was the most incredible thing I've ever seen, there wasn't a second passed without another lightning strike!

We saw this at home in South Norfolk - some of the most intense elevated lightning I'd seen in years.

Ok Spielberg, next time there’s a storm, you go and record it and see how much better quality yours will be. 🙄
You can’t expect super clear picture quality with a nighttime recording, you fool
