5 out of 5 stars! Truly one of the best thunderstorm videos I've ever seen. Definitely saving to my "science, weather" playlist! Addendum: I wanted to add, I love the rain sounds, with or without the thunder. I've been listening to it while playing card games on my 'puter!
When I was young I used to be scared to death if lightning myself. Then I learned storms can't touch you if your inside or on your back patio watching it go by from a safe place. They are beautiful to watch.
Yes this is why I joined a lot of storm chasing sites and tornado pages because I'm definitely afraid of storms but I don't mind seeing them somewhere else
Don’t get much in the way of thunderstorms here in the Scottish highlands and the ones we do get are winter ones - usually around new year/January. We get wind and rain storms all year round but nothing too desperate. We had a hurricane a few years back…it was called Hurricane Bawbag. A bawbag is a scrotum! Great video, thank you for uploading. I’m 45 and my kids have grown up and left home and my husband wouldn’t notice if I disappeared, so if I win the lottery I’m heading for the parts of the USA I’ve wanted to see for years….basically, south of Virginia and as far west as Texas. In the meantime, while I’m still poor and fat, I’ll continue watching awesome videos like this! Have a wonderful day x
Oh I love thunderstorm videos. I fall asleep every time. Intense storms gets my adrenaline up, but every day storms help me sleep. I'll turn off all my lights and play these videos so the flashing on my phone is like lightning. So relaxing. That direct strike right at 8 minutes made me go Holy S***! Lol. 20:20 and 22:00 actually made me jump. I was NOT expecting that. 😄 24:51 made me go WOAH! What a show! SC storms are tricky. Here, probably about 15-20 minutes after the storm is over, we'll get a rouge strike. You don't see it comin cuz the rain will stop and the sun will peek out, then BOOM. Scares the crap outta me. I usually wait 45 minutes after it's over before going out.
Finally a God blessed American storm. Thank you for not talking in this video. OMG thank you for not talking and for leaving the camera on the tripod aimed at the lightning.😮❤😊

Most lightning is actually negatively charged & comes from the cloud base. Positive lightning is much more rare & comes in the form of blue jets & tends to strike as cloud to cloud lightning.
