I have very fond memories of my stay here. It IS phenomenal. Hands down the best RESORT in India. There was not a spec of dust on any surface at the Udaivilas, and it is palatial. The Candle room is a great directional feature of the hotel as it is very easy to get turned around because of the massive size of the property. I had never stayed at a hotel where people were stationed outside the rooms in case guests wanted their pillows fluffed. I remember sunning at the pool, and everytime i got up to swim, my towel was changed or re-arranged on my chair before i returned. The service is unmatched (as is true with so many hotels in India.) The staff was superb, as were the very spacious rooms with generous (and private) outdoor spaces (the views from the pools (three in total)) and outdoor spaces are stunning. One thing I will always remember are the amazing toiletry items: the lotion had the best scent of any I had ever used! The lighting is breathtaking all over the property, and allows a remarkably different experience between day and night. The RAAS in Jodhpur and The Narendra Bhawan in Bikaner are two of my other personal favorites for unforgettable stays in India
Thank you for filming our favorite project so beautifully. Nimish & Myself his wife and partner in our firm Abhikram designed this hotel, totally based on Mewari Architecture and its elements, which we and our office studied in depth with full support of Mr P R S Oberoi. We have designed 120 arches based on the Mewari principles of design. Revived 21 dying crafts, which are now flourishing, employed 300 highly skilled Craftpersons for 3 yrs and a couple of thousand other local artisans and Labour for 2.5 years.
Absolutely exquisite!! Thank you for taking the time to post about the backstory of design and construction. It is heartwarming to learn that so many artisans and craftsmen were “brought back to life” through your patronage. Definitely a jewel in the crown of India!
Parul, did you get the designs for the hotel from looking at the City Palace in Udaipur? Also, what was the massive arch in the lobby, near the entrance (framing the fountain in the center of the lobby) inspired by? I know that the Shiv Niwas Palace and the CIty Palace have fountains indoors, but I was wondering if you could perhaps shed more light on what designs you were inspired by, as far as the massive arches spanning the entire room, and the large fountains indoors? Thanks!

I was fortunate to stay at Udaivilas a decade back. No question (like all Oberoi properties) it is spectacular, if a little 'Disney' interpretation of India. For a fraction of the cost you can stay in an authentic Haveli's closer to Udaipur, with equally stunning lakeside views and more charm that feel more connected to the real India. For far more elegant luxuary, I would recommend staying 30 min from Udaipur at the magnificent Devi Garh, a walled palace converted into a spectacular hotel. Whilst you will not get a view of Lake Pichola, the rural views of the Aravalli hills are impossibly beautiful.

So I have actually stayed here and the experience of being here is one you can’t forget. The property is huge, the staff is so welcoming and ensures that you have the best stay. The food is amazing. As someone from Udaipur, you feel closer to your own heritage and culture here because it’s constructed that way. There is a stretch of walk area that was not in the Video on which one side is the lake and one side is a pond and it feels heavenly in the evening time. The rooms are great and the bathroom is oh my god. And the plantation in the whole property gives it a unique splash of colour that is unmatched and the numerous pools or fountains or water works are breathtaking. I literally cannot stop talking about this place. If you ever have a chance to visit this, you better grab that.

This is not only a phenomenal hotel : it's a phenomenal video and impressions ! ✓✓✓ I'm deeply convinced that staying at this hotel will leave good memories for a long time ! Thank You so much our dear The Great Expert !
The complex is built maximizing local traditional materials, art and crafts, like stone and lime, stucco plaster in lime and soft furnishings mostly made in Rajasthan. The entire hotel exterior gets painted in lime paint twice a year. All the Jalis and stone elements, pillars, lotus pond, the fishscale cascading surface at the infinity edge pool etc are handcrafted with minimum use of machine tools. All the rainwater is harvested and goes into the lake and after filtering to recharge the ground water, rest of the used water is recycled and used in landscaping. We made ensured through the design to minimize cut and fill, and save 90-95% of tree cover. The rock that was cut was used up on the site. No such rock left the site. For every tree cut 10 new were planted. Well these are just a few of the aspects I thought I should share with all of you. Thank you again for featuring The Oberoi UdaiVilas so well. Would like to connect with you. - Parul Zaveri for Abhikram, Ahmedabad, India

In Indian culture "luxury" is seen as a process, it is about patience and attention to detail. From the floors to the ceiling and to the arrangement of the flowers and cushions in the rooms. Everything individually taken care of and with taste. Your vlog shows exactly that. It is not simply another luxury hotel, it is an unforgetable experience. Well done....

This is not only masterpiece of beautiful resort anywhere in world but also show case of beauty, grandeur, luxury, look at our past history, creation of beauty to behold when hands are only tools and skills are only plans. This is the reflection of our past, created now to cherish by many generations to come. My friend from Germany always says you will see things in India you would never see anywhere. From architecture to decor to furniture to gardens and surrounding it is unsurpassed beauty to behold. Please sit back and you decide. Please thank artisans and craft people who created this marvel as a tribute to human skill and achievement at highest level. Very well presented by Luxury Travel Expert. Dr. Kumar Mehta
Once again a truly majestic property with such impeccable touches like the toiletries in the bathrooms, the linens, the pillows, bedding, the furniture and fixtures, the restaurants, the pools and gardens surround the hotel like a true palace for Indian royalty in the 16th and 17th century. The gymnasium here is a bonanza big and fully stocked, I do not remember now if you showed us the spa and/or an ample gift shop. The bar with all the needed liquors, tonics, mixers, wines, etc, etc. One week here and I would not be able to come back to earth to my middle class living in New Jersey, USA. Lol, Lol, Lol. Thanks again for taking us on this dreamy vacation that is part James Bond, Indiana Jones, Rita Hayworth and her husband the Ali Khan real royalty from that neck of the woods.
This is marvellous no second thought.....my one sincere request for these hotel management is......insist on cleanlinesss of high standard in visiting places .....apply pressure to govt....to maintain spotless ...in the places tourist visit......people should feel comfort when they go to these places.....then more people wants to visit....

Your videography has done justice to the property's ambience and architectural motifs. A job well done. I request you to cover ITC's Grand Bharat in Gurgaon in similar fashion, if you haven't already.

Had the privilege of staying at udaivilas and words cannot describe the hospitality the experience was better than any place in the world money well spent

बहुत शानदार होटल है देश के

Best Luxurious Place to live in the world 🤩
I started out in the tourism industry, this is so beautiful; like something made to TV or movies!! Thanks for the video, loved it!
Correction : Rajasthan's era of Rajput maharajas. The architecture is emblematic of local Rajasthani architecture, nothing to do with Mughals.

I am so thrilled to see your feature on the Udaivilas - we were there many moons ago, and experienced what you showed and made me know a bit more of the hotel itself! You are right, It will take days to see the whole thing, I did not see many even if I walked around much! Udaipur is very interesting, I would like to go back there again. Thank you for the trip back! (I loved the swimming pool shots!)
The thumbnail was stunning.Cant wait to watch the vid. Thanks for keeping us entertained, even in this lockdown.
Your videography has done justice to the property's ambience and architectural motifs. A job well done.
I request you to cover ITC's Grand Bharat in Gurgaon in similar fashion, if you haven't already.
Staying there must be feel like a KING 👑
I've seen a lot of your videos but this hotel has got to be in my top three. Stunning. One day fingers crossed! Great video as always.

@@luxurytravelexpert you are very welcome. Most deserving!
You were in India and ordered french toast and eggs Benedict? Unbelievable!
Such a beautiful place! I can appreciate their attention to detail, even through the video. The hotel reminded me a bit of a Rosewood property.
Lush green and building style is very different.
Love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩❤️🇮🇳
Mesmerizing expression of Indian architectural ingenuity gave this property an endless dimension! (Btw, the video is made unnecessarily too long which some viewers might find annoying.)
If you ever find yourself in the UAE again, please try the The Oberoi Beach Resort, Al Zorah in Ajman

What a beautiful, colorful and serene complex.
I wouldn't mind being lost on this estate, well except for the animals:)
I wondered if you have ever used or considered using a 360 degree camera and, although I'll never need them ,whether most of the Luxury places and
planes offer excellent Vegan, plant based foods for those of us who prefer this life style.
Thank you for this harmonious video.
Cheers,

I actually never considered a 360 degree camera ...

November to February: dry, sunny and warm weather (not too hot)
@@luxurytravelexpert During monsoon, Udaipur is bliss. Truly does justice to its title, the venice of the east
The best time to visit Udaipur is from mid August to February as you can enjoy the fairy tale beauty of the city in monsoon in August & September. You can visit all the tourist attractions & soak in the culture & delicious cuisine in the festival season from October to December, & art and world music festival in month of January and February is something to remember.

Beautiful parasols. I remember about a year ago also you uploaded a video from a hotel in India that there were lovely parasols there.
Design, heritage has nothing to do with mughals its pure Indian
But Mughals were Indians. They ruled over india. Taj Mahal is Mughal architecture but it is Indian. Just like this hotel has Mughal architecture but it is Indian
@@chadxlr3978 If Mughals are Indians then so are the British colonisers
@@varun_shankarno, later Mughals were indians, after Akbar who had Indian blood in his veins. Before two generations, we don't consider them india

We are considering reviewing a couple of suites and hotels in India 2021. Might add this one to the list. There are quite a few amazing hotels in India though, so it's going to be hard to choose.
