Chinatown has so many options, this video felt like it could be on the food network
Thanks Chris
Are these restaurants in flushing open even during the winter like say February
Flushing eats are always A++ 😋
Thank you for grabbing these delicious bites with us; this was so much fun, Jon! 🎉
Any time!
Flushing is hands down a Foodie's Paradise. I don't know if you know this Jon, but the Joe's Steam Rice Roll location is so famous, that Anthony Bourdain featured it on his tv show Parts Unknown. The food is just incredible there
Yes I saw his pic!!
I love Ben and Ming. Their energy is ✨🤌
Those Peking duck buns are legendary! Remember when they used to be $1 and sold out of a window on the corner
The OG location of Joe’s Steamed Rice Roll! Love that they grind the rice fresh here - really special spot
LOVE the Steamed Rice Roll - so fresh and delicious!! :-) Greetings from Vancouver!!
Flushing really is bomb, super underrated. I stayed in a hotel a block away from Main St last year during NYFW - loved that neighborhood!
Agreed! I always visit Flushing when I visit NY from Vancouver!! Foodie bliss and cheap! Mindblowing! Give me another Peking Duck skin in that bun and a fish ball and oh, yes, to the BBQ!! Very authentic food at incredibly cheap prices. What a terrific way to have a great time by strolling through the different places to eat!! Oh and those egg custards!! Bliss!!
I grew up in Flushing, Queens. 4 blocks away from Main street. I remember hanging out in Busy Bee and eating sticky pork and chicken buns. 1.50 back in the days. Held me down like steal. Times were hard.
You can still get hot and sour soup for 1.50 to 2.00 in many places, and the buns and dumplings for the same price.
Production value of this video is 🔥, the same as that Uighur BBQ cart at the end of the video which I definitely need to try next time!
whatever
I need to visit that BBQ cart again on my next visit, AK!! I agree with you!!
There is a guy that has the bbq cart right in front of the post office, even the organ meat such as chicken hearts are cooked well.
Flushing has been at the top of my bucket list for years. Someday I'll actually make it there.
Thank you for coming to Flushing and showing good places to people. Btw, Your voice is very pleasant to listen.
Great job, there is so much great stuff to eat in NYC's real Chinatown!!
Thanks Joe!
Im not a person who enjoys this variety of food but I do enjoy your videos. I like your choice of background music. Thank you for sharing Jon
Can wait to check out! Love some great Chinatown’s best foods 🍜🥡🥠🍲🍣
Ming makes the video awesome thanks !!
Love pretty much any video dealing with Chinatowns, specially Flushing. Prices are starting to climb in Flushing though.
Love those Xinjiang BBQ skewers with all the cumin seeds! Lamb and chicken heart especially 🤤
You mean East Turkistan
My two go-tos, too. This cart moves around, but is usually within a block or two of the parking garage, towards Main.
Ben and Ming are so cool also You are cool too!!!
the differences between Portuguese egg tart and Hong Kong-style egg tart is not just the caramelized top but also the recipe of the egg custard I think. i don't know about when people in Flushing would eat Hong Kong-style egg tart but it's classic for Hong Kong people to have egg tart at 3:15pm - tea time.
And actually here in Portugal we eat them at breakfast not as a desert.
@@andreiafilipapaulo5907 we eat them anytime truly hahaha
I miss the spot that was under the LIRR on main st ..
My favorite types of cheap eats!
I’m so glad that 3 of my favorite spots were featured in this video. Flushing is really a good paradise hell every time I go there I must spend at least $40 in food alone (I’m not even counting Popeyes) the food is amazing that duck sandwich I could eat a lot of those, boba drinks, and the egg tarts are just amazing. I’m glad live close by cause the food is amazing.
Well done from the recording to all the amazing food!! Now I am hungry!!! Amazing!
Love the map animation!
I've lived my whole life in the Flushing/Fresh Meadows area and worked at NYPQ on Main and Booth Memorial Ave. for 39 yrs. I love the egg custard tarts at Yeh's bakery as well as their cakes and sweet rolls. I love Mr. Yeh, his son Andy and the guys in the back doing the baking.
Your videos are making me think I am not going to NYC long enough 🤔
Love flushing cheap eats!
My husband is Chinese and we live here in Flushing and the food is soooo good. Chinese BBQ is my favorite
Your kids will be like me. My father is Chinese from Hong Kong, my mother is Irish, born in Brooklyn. We grew up loving Authentic Chinese food.
@@hopelam01 awww that is so cute :) Chinese food is delicious 😋
We live in TriBeCa and always walk over to the Canal street area, but we’ll definitely have to give this a try. Thanks.
My Mom’s name is Bing! Haha dude that peking duck looked fantastic. The egg tarts can be eaten all day! Lol nice edit. The maps are a cool addition
4:22 The place where you guys got fish balls, they also have rice rolls, like 6:39 I like both places, but more on Joe's Steamed Rice Rolls.
Love how you have the address and the name of the places in the description, another great food tour to add to the list when I visit
Always love videos in flushing!
Great video, hopefully i can check out some of this deliciousness this year.
Thanks
Love Flushing so much
After the "shaking before poking" comment, I expected to see the Uncle Roger "Sorry Children" cut in! haha!
Nice video, my mom grew up in Flushing in the 40’s and 50’s - it has changed a lot since those days, but glad to see it thriving. Nice time I’m in the city I’ll have to go check it out.
Hi John I love you channel ❤so informative...lived in New York for 50yrs and still learning....you are so likable.....Thank you....clapping
So dope and food looked delicious. Not sure when you’ll be able to go the Middle Eastern or Central Asian part of Queens/BK. So much great food too
Love this!!
Well done guys
Oh wow the bakery items looked fantastic 😍 the egg tarts look creamy and flaky. I wanted to literally eat my iPad 😭😂
After seeing this video I just feel so homesick right now I joined the army as a 68c and honestly to tell the truth this is the first time I've been away from home for so long
Thank you for your service, Soldier! Just like Arnold you'll be back and have something to look forward to.
Jon ,I always visit Flushing on my trips to the Big Apple 🍎, it has the most authentic Chinese food from Yum Cha to street snacks.
Id watch you just doing food stuff. Good stuff, bro. Stay safe!
My next place to visit! I haven’t been to the city in over 4 years so I’ve been rewatching all of your videos lately cause I’m coming this week and i just know I’m gonna be feeling like such a tourist lol
Street food unites nations around the world. It breaks down all borders and human diversities. For ne, street food in one word is: community. Amazing street food tour. Cheers, Domenico.
Here be Barr !! so good to see you back :) I'd love to make it to NYC some day and Mexico too if I was coming all that way across the ocean from the UK.Also those custard portugeues type tarts looked the business, the pastry looked so light.
Stayed at Home2 suites in Queens on 39th Ave Long Island City near 39th Ave Dutch kills station. The Dutch Kills Centraal produced the best burger I have ever eaten. We were visiting from Ohio. I've looked this place up on Google maps a few times and it's showing temporarily closed. Hope they get back going again. I see Flushing is a ways on out from where we stayed. Maybe next time, we go the other way and head to Flushing!!
Phoenix to NYC. Just tried the Peking Duck and it was the 💣. Thank you Here be Barr for all the pointers. You are by far the best vlogger in NYC.
You are a life saver 🙏🙏🙏 right before my trip
Another great food tour
Great tips!
Thank you Jon. It was great.
The smile on my face when I see your new video :)
Fun & interesting, great job.
Those egg custard tarts look tasty, are they sweet? Thanks for this awesome video, John. I got my 2nd shot at the start of April, and I plan to get back to the city for a bike ride next weekend. I’m looking forward to checking out the places you have been to in the last year.
Don't miss the recently reviewed Yukun Shaobing right behind Joe's Steamed Rice Noodle. They also got a NYT review, too! Very cheap and delicious! Thanks for highlighting this colorful hood. :)
Definitely need to try all these when I'm down there
Love it!
so affordable for the amount of food, awesome tour
Been waiting for this so I drank 3 cups of coffee ☕☕☕Weeeee!🤪
I live in Flushing, there are so many other places where you can get finger food, chicken on a stick, dumplings, pork buns, for under 5 bucks. Flushing to me, is a food paradise and I am glad that it is bouncing back from Covid. And to let the viewers know, you can also use the LIRR from Penn Station or Woodside and get off at Flushing Main St. Costs a bit more, but saves time.
Amazing flushing Tour
I am a foodie. Going to check these places out. 💚💚💚💚 Flushing.
I love Hong Kong Egg Tarts and Peking Duck, I've had Peking Duck with Moo Shu Pork type pancakes never had it with bun type wrappers
Ben knows u more than alot of other people know u! 🤣
I go to Flushing a lot (mainly to go to Target) lol but I've never tried any food in the area. Next time I will check out some of these places everything looks so good!
Awesome!
Thanks!
This vid is awesome haha.. im from toronto and i miss new york SO MUCH.
Same here from Hamilton can't wait to hop on the midnight greyhound and head to NYC for a few days.
this is fire
Wow! 😋
Jon ! Great vid now just need to know what kind of bubble tea was that? Thx again ! I totally want to try fish balls as well as I am pescatarian 🐠 stay healthily and happy guys😎
the one they're famous for, i forget the name!
We used to go to Flushing from NJ just about every week.
This is very helpful! Do people normally eat outside restaurants standing up?
Very nice video
We have something similar to the riced roll in Vietnamese cuisine. Which makes sense since Vietnam was twice ruled by China.
I used to take the 7 from there. I had to visit Flushing soon!
I am always at flushing I love it over there ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Joe's steam roll was popular but wasn't the first people to have done made to order steam rolls with ingredients added in (might be the first to make a store out of the concept). The first time the concept showed up was probably near 8th ave Sunset Park food trucks.
And how can you forget Zhuji dumplings? Around the corner of 41st Ave there's a dumpling stall that started as a food truck that's even older than Venessa's dumplings.
Gotta love food in Flushing.
If you want some Uyghur food in Flushing, I suggest Nurlan Uyghur Restaurant on Main Street. It’s across the street from the Queens Botanical Garden. Authentic Uyghur cuisine.
So underrated.
I gotta try the Lamb Skewers When I Go to Flushinq 🔥🔥
No white bear?! Blasphemy! 😄
so cool
Don’t worry though… im scheduling my second trip this year right now
You have to come to Lisbon and try the really and truly Portuguese “Pastéis de Nata”. You won’t be fooled again…
Last time I was around that area I was thinking: I wonder if John have a video of recommendations about here I will like to try some of that food
Woah!
Those Uyghur kebabs looked delicious.
Queens forever
Very nice 👍
Flushing is the food capital of nyc
born and raised in flushing queens, have to say its a much better experience walking through chinatown flushing instead of chinatown in lower manhattan, which is where my barbershop is
Will add Flushing to the list! Is it really an hour half 🚂 ride out?
I saw you at LaGuardia on Monday! 👋🏽
So cool!
Bro u couldnt penetrate the boba cup 🤣
Food looks so damn good
