- On March 7, Swiss nationals will vote on a ban over the use of face coverings in public, specifically targeting face veils worn by Muslim women. The right-wing initiative comes as hygiene masks are mandatory in crowded public places due to the current Covid-19 pandemic. For Muslim organisations, the campaign is "ridiculous" and "ironic."

Once in a while were supposed to vote for 3 things (called initiativen) which the Nationalrat still has to approve first and then we are allowed to vote. I would say that everyone who is not Muslim seeing a woman with her face covered, will think that she is a conservative Muslim. The most European countries don’t want conservative Muslims with sharjah law reading Khomeini books in their lands. If someone is peaceful, will not cover their faces, pray and keep their traditions in places of religious worship or homes, they are the most welcome to peacefully stay here and adjust to the society they have chosen to live in. If you choose to cover the face when the country’s law forbids it, you need to adjust. It’s not true that there are no records of women who were covered to commit terrorist attacks. Many women terrorists were covered. Read any academic study on women’s terrorism or books. To be honest I agree with this. I am a muslim myself and I know that in a secular country like Switzerland, there r strict rules to make a society free of religion. If u r so religious, go to muslim majority country like saudi Arabia, makysia or turkey. And by the way there r many Christians and Jews women who also wear some religious clothes. They r also banned in a secular country like france.

Religious people can live there, but they can not practice all of the religious practices like clothing. I personally know many muslim friends of mine who don't wear hijab but they live in Europe because they r not that religious.

Governments want to make the secular countries "no religious" instead of "all religion"countries. So we will have to accept the reality. I live in a third world country myself (Pakistan) and if I ever go to europe I will have this thing in mind that I will not have that religious freedom in a secular country as I will in my muslim majority country.

However, I would like to provide my testimony regarding the niqab. Swiss society is rather tolerant regarding many subjects. Regarding the veil, women have the right to wear it. A certain number of swimming pools also accept burkinis. What is seen as a problem is the niqab. It's not really a question of religion, it's the fact that the face is covered and that's not in Swiss culture. Why wouldn't a veil be enough? Why go to the extent of covering your face when it is neither a custom of the country nor a custom among the Muslim community itself. Despite all this, Gulf tourists with the niqab can come on vacation to Switzerland, no one will say anything to them.
