Proto Metallica doing a cover of Sucking my Love, you KNOW I had to listen to that!!! Before Cliff, before Kirk, when all they had was a dream, and a fire in their eyes. Metallica was the GOAT for a very short period of time, '83-'87. Possibly '88. After Cliff's tragic and untimely death they were never the same. Mentally, emotionally, spiritually, musically. From 1991's Black album it was a long slow sad decline into mediocrity which continues to this day. R.I.P Cliff.
Dave was on fire! Man, I wish he had maintained this style of soloing. His solos became too chromatic by the time he formed Megadeth, but here it's more pentatonic based and rock 'n' roll.
Even by the Megaforce release, Dave was too far gone on the chromatic stuff. In fact, on that release, he's so far outside the standard key at times that sounds just plain wrong.
@@doobiefett5659 Dave is undoubtedly more technically skilled, and developed his style to be more musical (especially by Peace Sells and onwards) but man, that Megaforce release has some dodgy off-key solos on it.
@@thereagauze - That's probably partially true. Hate to quote a Pop star, but even Madonna said it herself on David Letterman.. "Money makes you soft, Dave." This probably wouldn't have fit in with Metallica the way they were by the time Kill Em All came out, but it's cool to hear them playing this. Kind of an overlooked Diamond Head song.

They had Songs like Hit The Lights Whiplash Seek And Destroy No Remorse Am I Evil Helpless Killing Time I mean Anestesia , Jump In The Fire , Metal Militia , Phantom Lord , Four Horsemen / Mechanix were Songs Dave and Cliff had a part in when they joined the band . Looks like Dave might have been right about his claims that he was leading this band at times . This set list clearly demonstrates his pushing his songs in this set list over James and Lars' Songs that I've listed . James and Lars weren't into Hair Metal Sexual Inuendo songs like Original Versions of Dave's Songs like Suck My Love , The Prince , or Jump In the Fire .
Its crazy to think that in the early 80s Diamond Head was hyped as the next Led Zeppelin, yet nowadays almost everyone of us knows them thanks to Metallica. The music buissines is so weird and unfair, Diamond Head deserved better, at least we got to know them thanks to Lars and the boys.
"No Life To Leather" Deluxe release would be amazing to hear with some new tech to give this a little more cleaned up versions for the vocals .... unfortunately Dave put the hammer down on any release of this making a proper release with all this great covers and originals from the beginning with the original 4 Metal Heads that made Metallica ....figjting over song credits at this point of life after all making it (except for Ron, but I'm sure he was happy either way in the end...but he'd get some credit for this if properly released now a days. So sorry that Dave is so bitter and lame even after such success and a life of greatness that some don't even get close to living...such a winner with a loser attitude to the end I guess. 🤔

If you are a true metallica lover you’ll love this👍👍👍👍🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
McGovney was totally legit on bass. Nice tone, right in the pocket.
He was holding it together somehow
Then why did James shit on him so much any chance he got after he had left the band?

definitely. Justice was the last great album, but that was all messed up by taking out the bass
