The film was a masterpiece and i am glad some of the locations have survived. Great for local tourism and for film buffs. Big thankyou to the people who restored an iconic film location!
Director Leone was unable to find an actual cemetery for the Sad Hill shootout scene, so the Spanish pyrotechnics chief hired 250 Spanish soldiers to build the cemetery in Carazo, Spain near Salas de los Infantes, which they completed in two days.

And I thought Tuco called it "Sand Hill" as Wallace was poking his eyes out during the torture scene in Angel Eye's cabin. This scene, accompanying music, and movie is my favorite. Thanks for sharing.
Arch Stanton was my Great, Great Grandfather. My Great Grandmother (Arch's daughter), told me he always kept beans on the table and never lifted a gal's skirt unlessun she said to. He was a good feller, from all accounts. Sad that he had to be dug up so. I guess worse thangs can happen.
Sad Hill Cemetery, like any has dead men and"Dead men tell no tales".Only the Unknown Did,from which we enjoy the most thrilling movie ever by Cint Eastwood ,Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cliff Now only Clint stil remains .
Better to go with a rental car. The place is dispersed in the mountains halfway between Santo Domingo de Silos to the south and Contreras to the north. It can be reached from both directions but on a dirt road.
@@ChrisMisc1 No..the Spanish military built the original, then they removed the graves,I know there was a campaign to rebuild it,obviously this is the result

- "Sure I'm sure."
"There are two kinds of people, my friend. Those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig."
Wonderful to see how nicely they rebuild everything. Crosses were mostly gone so it sure was not a simple rebuild.
It was a movie set. Wouldn't all the crosses have been removed when filming was over?

Is it a real cimetery or they just built it for the movie needs ??

Pity the rock is long gone. That's got to be the most well known rock in cinematic history.
