Flight 1474...3702 BMTS...November 10, 1972..6 weeks. Definitely not this relaxed. For 2 to 3 weeks...we could do nothing right...nothing ! It got this tamed about 2 days before we graduated...but we was warned to keep our military bearing. There was profanity...but not directed at the trainee ...no name calling...only a little snatching/bumping. We were glad it was over...although most of us wished there was more PT. Retired USAF flat belly MSgt...24 years...1972-1996..best decision I ever made.
I was army for 20 years. I like that the NCO’s are running the show. No Commissioned Officers involved with graduation of the enlisted personnel except for the Colonel’s speeches. Great!!
Something is very off. They are given so much time to eat with no yelling to hurry up. Also the fluids they are drinking. I remember it had to be three hydrating fluid such as water and "Gatorade".
I arrived at Lackland 16 August 1983, 0230. 3707 BMTS, flight 147. Honorably discharged June, 1987. That was over 40 years ago. Completely different, which is not surprising. But every day of duty, we were properly shaved with a regulation haircut, ironed creases in our utility uniforms and shined boots. I was a Security Policeman in the Strategic Air command. 2 months ago, I went to the Air Force Base near my home and I eas, quite frankly, appalled at what I saw. The SSgt. who escorted me looked like had 3 or 4 days growth of whiskers. In fact, quite a few uniformed members I saw had even more than that. I saw a Captain in his dress blues with a full beard. and of course these days, AF members don't wear black boots that need to be shined. And some of the haircuts I saw looked ridiculous. At least I can say that the Security Forces troops I saw looked squared away. Proper haircuts and no facial hair. The lady cops had their hair nicely set. I shook their hands.
I went through in 1980 and in these dorms. Much nicer beds and lockers now. And I must honestly say it seems milder now than then. That first night and especially the shakedown the next day were a real attention getter; all hell broke loose once we arrived at the dorms and intensified from there but gradually calmed some after the first two weeks. But I have to admit that it was a real milestone in my life and I don't regret it!
I was in July 80 to August 80.squadron 3723 flight 037. We stayed in the old mob dorms, they were not nearly as nice I also recall being yelled at a lot more
Soooo chill, literally was never scared of that guy, but I did watch him catch a guy in bed 15 minutes to lights out and he was so stunned at the audacity of the trainee, I'll never for get that guy's face 😂
Is that a Bulldogs squadron dorm that the new trainees just walked into? They have newer lockers and beds then what we had as Eagles this past couple of months….
Maann...what I would have given to not have a bunkmate. Everytime they'd move, even scratch an itch, the entire bunk would shake as if they were beating that shit like it owed them money. (Sometimes, I swear that's what they were doing). Didn't matter if you were top bunk or bottom bunk, it sucked. Also, must be nice to be able to take your time and eat like that. Sometimes we had until the 1st guy was done eating (always made sure to eat slow so everyone had time to get their food and eat something before time was up or else he risked getting pummeled that night), and sometimes they'd give us 3 - 5 minutes from the time the last person to get their meal sat down. And God Forbid you were the first or second person in the DFAC and you're still sitting there when the last person sits.
did you ever get table fucked? i hated sitting in front of our sister flight because they barely ate and everytime they got up we had to get up then which screwed us because we're guys and ate more than them so we'd end up starving.
@Andrew Talero Oh definitely. Some guys just didn't care and had no common decency or consideration for others. It's okay though. They all got dealt with eventually. Lol Good times.
If I could have gone through BMT with a Covid mask, I would have never gotten in trouble. I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing at all the stupid shit that was going on. I stayed in trouble. With the Covid mask, I would have covertly gotten away with it.

Flight 1474...3702 BMTS...November 10, 1972..6 weeks. Definitely not this relaxed. For 2 to 3 weeks...we could do nothing right...nothing ! It got this tamed about 2 days before we graduated...but we was warned to keep our military bearing. There was profanity...but not directed at the trainee
...no name calling...only a little snatching/bumping.
Great!!
Those MTIs are much worse when the cameras go away.
Coming from Marines, it's just wild to me how they get to use the word "my" and whisper back or not responding back at all
CRAZY. I went to BMT 30 Aug 22 with this squadron. 326 trs FLT 701
I you’re re asking why they’re getting yelled at, is because of the camera. When I was there, MTIs are always yelling at you, for everything
Something is very off. They are given so much time to eat with no yelling to hurry up. Also the fluids they are drinking. I remember it had to be three hydrating fluid such as water and "Gatorade".
Très beaux bravo
Hooyah Bulldogs 💪🏽 graduated 10 months ago😮💨
We stayed in the old mob dorms, they were not nearly as nice I also recall being yelled at a lot more
Navy boot camp in 1955, this looks like a walk in the park, we started woth100 and graduated with 60 most companies were the same...ie..60 grads
Going to Air Force bmt some point in June. One of my worries is not knowing what they are saying when they are yelling
how was it??
@@weenisman2518 wound up going early August. Wasn’t as bad as I thought it was gonna be
@@Colt_Buck were you able to understand what they were saying while yelling lol also congrats on graduating
@@weenisman2518 oh yeah it wasn’t hard. Videos make it seem worse than it was
Basic in 1971 and the barracks were from WW2; the food was good but waiting for it was "heel to toe."
Siguen avanzando
Wow, this is totally different from the Marine Corps.
BMTS 3723/FLT 035 in Jan -Feb ‘ 83..SALUTE LACKLAND AFB..OH THE MEMORIES 😮
In the 322nd we got those backpacks at arrival and were getting screamed at the entire time
Man how times changed. Feel like the information is more direct now
Been 48 years since I did BMT, had to chuckle when they still played the “pick up your bag, put your bag down” game with the Sargent!
Some of y’all should have been in AFJROTC . I was and it helped me less nervous during the report statements n all that
J'ai encadré des appelés du contingent toujours avec le respect de l'etre humain.Sergent Yves BONNARD (1982-1986)
TSgt McDowell was so chill
Soooo chill, literally was never scared of that guy, but I did watch him catch a guy in bed 15 minutes to lights out and he was so stunned at the audacity of the trainee, I'll never for get that guy's face 😂

Please do a video on TSgt Smith he will show you what bmt is really like.
No kidding, don’t let his height fool you. Made me wanna crawl into a hole just seeing him. Sgt Chang and Sgt Jiminez were no joke either
I went Army in 1990. I wish I went AF to be honest
They are very strict with rules and they make you stronger
Is that a Bulldogs squadron dorm that the new trainees just walked into? They have newer lockers and beds then what we had as Eagles this past couple of months….
@35:03 Those little steps 😂😂
"Sir, trainee reports as duty"
Lol
Good times.
19:51 dude wears PT gear to BMT and says “Trainee reports for duty” 💀
Bro that was me, I was given the pts before basic🤣. I was screamed at way too much for it, and I confused so many MTIs
I never noticed that, that's actually insane, bro went back in time
Msgt Grooms, Msgt Turnbull some dawgs 💪🏽💪🏽
DAMN they give you shampoo? We had to buy all that.

WONDERFUL
The graduate's uniforms could have been tailored better. All in all congrats to them
Is it true that all military barbers failed basic barber training?
those are my exact same MTIs 😭😭😭
GRAVY time.Paridise Island for me 1/29/80...
We love us airforce❤😅😊🎉
If I could have gone through BMT with a Covid mask, I would have never gotten in trouble. I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing at all the stupid shit that was going on. I stayed in trouble. With the Covid mask, I would have covertly gotten away with it.
That mess hall part of guy getting yelled at was kinda funny. What did he do.
You have to be verbally acknowledged before you can start speaking
The scence changed right when he was about to say the R word.
What in the world is this? Makes me feel ancient. BMT was not like this 13 years ago lol
Shaving scene; someone got a 4 second look of the future
