  • Daoirí Farrell sings classic Dublin lament ‘ Rare Ould Times’, also known as ‘Rare Auld Times’ in the Castle Vaults Bar and restaurant. The song was first recorded by the Dublin City Ramblers but has been covered many times since.
Dublin is changing, it always does but this song remains timeless. The ballad mentions the old Theatre Royal. Would you believe their ticket box was once used by the receptionists of the Castle Hotel in the original foyer. It’s been restored in 2021 and is now housed just before you enter the bar.
Castle Hotel Dublin has live Irish music 7 nights from 8pm.

100% agree. We were so lucky to have him and we loved how he mashed up songs with such humour.

My husband and I stayed at the Castle Hotel not long before covid happened. Beautiful hotel. Was a great first introduction to Dublin. As always, great performance, Daoiri. Hope some day I will get to see you perform in person.

Went to see Daoirí at the Sage not so long ago. What a wonderful evening, and a charming man, not to forget his dad, driver, roadie. Stayed at the Castle one year for my wife's birthday, a great hotel. Why can't people shut their fat gobs while someone so talented is trying to entertain them? 🤔 Perhaps bad manners and not a musical bone in their bodies! Will definitely return to the Castle and when is Daoirí on again. Happy Happy Joy Joy😁

Not sure but he's very active on his Instagram and that would be the best place to ask him. Have a wonderful trip to Ireland.

They are but it's more about the quality of the phone recording and the way sound bounces around the Vaulted ceilings. He was incredible that night!

Daoiri Farrell; sounds wonderful. But I can't believe that disrespectful crowd with all their background noise.

Think we can blame the phone recording on this one - picks up all the sound in equal measure.
