Daoirí Farrell sings classic Dublin lament ‘ Rare Ould Times’, also known as ‘Rare Auld Times’ in the Castle Vaults Bar and restaurant. The song was first recorded by the Dublin City Ramblers but has been covered many times since.
Dublin is changing, it always does but this song remains timeless. The ballad mentions the old Theatre Royal. Would you believe their ticket box was once used by the receptionists of the Castle Hotel in the original foyer. It’s been restored in 2021 and is now housed just before you enter the bar.
