check out charlie parr. He is a folk singer from the US and is amazing. There are also a bunch of really good and amazing bluegrass bands these days. There is real music out there it just depends on where you look.
Thanks for the music Trio! I said good bye to the physical remains of my dog buddy in Iceland coasts with the instrumental that starts around min 47:00 as a background. This song was allways powerful for me, but now even more. I will be in the same "place" as you one day. I love you my friend. Miss you. Thanks for our time together.
Saw this wonderful man at the Gateshead Sage. What a character, and so is his dad. Quality time well spent. Don't ever leave an empty seat when he's in town.
I am broken hearted that Blackie lost his best buddy and wingman this month (Sept 2024), Irish musician Cyril O'Donohugh a native of County Clare and a true legend of Irish trad music, singer, song writer and musician extraordinaire. Blackie and Cyril always used to play at 47:17 "Gol na mBan san Ar" and that sublime transition into the jig at 51:06 called "Cnocán An Teampaill' for me and the whole pub would be just bloody ROCKING! What happy evenings and memories we shared in McGann's and McDermotts in Doolin over the years with people from all over the world. Truly world class talents. Sessions in Clare will never be the same without you Cyril. We all love and miss you man. 🙏💔
Some music is of the universe. Doesn't matter what genre it is. It is generally any musician who, rather than 'play' the music, they just simply 'become' the music, and the music plays through them. Then it connects instantly on an emotional level, with an audience/listener. Best thing i've been hypnotised by, for a long time. Thank you
I have had the great privilege of emceeing Daoiri at a couple of festivals in North America and I can firmly say, I can't say enough good about this young man. He is amazing at his craft and very nice to work with. He will go far.
They certainly do have the best music and people; we live in California and the place is falling apart- people here are horrible and it’s very sad - this music makes me long for a country and state that use to be people of honor, grace and humility
Blackie is easily in the top 4 living Uilleann Pipers (and the youngest of course by a long way) but what a mighty talent he is! So good to hear Daoiri singing The Valley of Knockanure in England which tends to remind me of the 1960’s performance of Peter, Paul and Mary at the BBC when they sang The Rising of The Moon to great applause of the mainly British audience who clearly did not have a clue of the reliance to British / Irish history. Brilliant performance by these lads though, I do hope they are invited back again to Shrewsbury FF when conditions allow!
If you took a little sliver of every great Irish trad musician over the last 20 years, you couldn't blend them any better than this. Daoiri is Amazing.
Great way of putting it, only add more like a 100 years and plus bearing in mind all were influenced themselves in turn from the older Irish music makers. He really reminds me of a mix of a few, most notably 2 or 3 old greats, and can't compliment more than that really. Frank Harte, Paul Brady , Jimmy Crowley and the audience communication of Ronnie Drew But I can compliment more as he is himself a music man in his own right, that takes some achieving in our extremely rich musical culture. And it helps having great musicians around ye.
So - I usually thoroughly dislike folk music. Stumbled across this and was completely captivated. watched the entire thing. Daoiri, you have a new fan. thanks so much for bringing your wonderful talent into the public eye.
There is no doubt that Daoiri and Robbie are a class act and I really love their work but Blackie is simply in another league, a truly world class musician and a top man.
So this what happens when you take the best Irish Uilleann piper, Bodhran player and trad singer and put them together with a zouk - impeccable performance
I luv bouzouki music...so rich and clear....I love Irish and Greek folk music....there's a great neopagan/celtic folk-rock act called Omni. This beautiful lass Jenny that pays Hurdy-gurdy and harp....lashing the air with her dreads .....grrrrr-yum
You Tube recommended him to me .I'm glad they did. I've come to really like him. I've shared him with some of my friends I think would like him. This is a fine concert. I will save this concert and share with others. Thank you You Tube.
I love hearing music from around the world! I found this going down a youtube rabbit hole. I stumbled on your awesome airport delay video then this and it is incredible. You guys are fantastic! Cheers from the USA.
Wonderful Performance!. Stumbled upon Daoiri thanks to RUclips recommendation for his performance of "Foggy Dew" for the Ireland's favorite song competition. Been looking up everything else I can find of his since and do glad of it. A great irish talent.!Thanks again you tube for spotlighting a great performer for me :-)
I watched the entire video.... it captivates you . I'm into all types of music based on the performance and talents of the musicians. I loved it. I especially loved the Video of you guys playing live in the airport.....

Traveller News UK that’s a big call... but I must admit, I’m kinda a with you. Would prefer more traditional and reels purely for the musical talent obviously.

I was friends with a fella who could play the pipes with dexterity.....his nickname was Paul the Pipes. Fill him full of Guinness and surround with accompanying backing musicians, and he would have enthralled. Uillian Pipes played by a Master are hauntingly beautiful
First saw Daoiri a few years back in Bristol and was impressed with his vocal application. Certainly recruiting Blackie as 'backing performer' in this was a Master stroke!!! Great craic Blackie!!! 'County Clare' is definitely the 'home' of Irish music, no question!! Robby, is you Dad 'Cozy Powell'???
I agree, a wonderful Kerry song and one of my all time favourites along with the Boys of Barr na Sraide, but perhaps Daoiri should have explained the true events behind the song to what I assume is mainly a British audience...Whops! But isn't Blackie just bloody awesome as well?
Charles, my Dad and I were arguing where and which Creggan... he was saying it was down around Crossmaglen? I was arguing up around Dungiven? Unfortunately, I think he's right... he was a tanker driver for a couple of guys down there...!!!

The Scots and Irish have the best music in the world.
And the Scots have the Irish to thank as the source of it still in a few of them still.

This is amazing! The Foley bouzouki is perfect- but the vocals are also just beautiful. I am happy to see Daoiri getting the recognition he deserves.
You can safely say traditional music is in great hands with Daoiri Farrell and Brian MacGloinn (Ye Vagabonds) at the helm. Absolutely outstanding 👌🏻
I’ve seen multiple versions of him singing this on RUclips but his voice on this one is so strong.
I'm not even Irish, and know next to nothing about Irish folk music, but wow that was amazing!
For some us it’s Mother’s Milk, something raised on without question. Welcome to the adventures

The Unquiet Grave. Always a powerful folk song, but Luke and Daoiri take it to another magnificent level.
Fortunate to have been in the audience that day. We were also there again at SFF last weekend for some more great music.
