    I don't know if anybody agrees, but in the end of this comic I realized that actually Mongul gave Superman that best present he could ever get. Well, what do you give to a man that has everything? It can not be just a regular present...
    Mongul ended up giving Superman an experience that he'd never have. Thanks to Mongul, Superman was able to see how his life in Krypton would've been like.
    I maybe tripin' but it is the way I see it. Alan Moore is brilliant!

    • @Grievousish
      @Grievousish 8 лет назад +1

      Leonardo Bauer In a way it's the worst possible thing to do to him. the whole reason Superman goes bad is cause the dream was real, but still taken away.

    • @leonardobauer6312
      @leonardobauer6312 8 лет назад +9

      Grievousish of course it made him suffer, but that's not the point. Good or bad, it was the only way to see what his life in Krypton would be like. He was able to experience the things he wondered about his whole life. He's got the all answers.

    • @Grievousish
      @Grievousish 8 лет назад +8

      Leonardo Bauer
      True, but I think Superman would have been better off not knowing. Sure he got all the answers, but now he knows what he'll never have. People spend their whole lives wondering over what if? scenarios and while probably a good portion would say yes to being shown what could have been, myself at least i'd prefer to never know.

    • @leonardobauer6312
      @leonardobauer6312 8 лет назад +3

      Grievousish so this is all about perspective. Had I had the chance, I'd like to have all the answers. And by our discussion we can see how Alan Moore can make a simple superhero birthday become a philosophical story. It's just amazing!

    I'm shocked the broader DC universe doesn't have a serious Black Mercy illicit drug trade problem.

    Great episode guys! I love how Alan Moore makes a dark and serious story keeping the fun heroic stuff of superhero comics. He's definetly a great writer, especially in his erliear years, unfortunately along the road he went nuts but I'll always be grateful to him for maaking V for vendetta because I just think that's perfect, much like this story. I would have wanted to see Jason's and Diana's heart desires but I understand why superman and batman have to get the black mercy on them.

    My second favorite Superman story, it's so good. JLU adaptation is incredible but I prefer comic book, especially it's depiction of Kyrpton is perfect. And it contains Jason Todd's most badass moment. I never like him as an antihero, he had potential as Robin but never used well. After this story Black Mercy used several times. Ones for Hal Jordan and other time for Green Lantern Corp. members and this version is different it doesn't give person's heart desire, it gives person's worst nightmare.
