What amazed me is the same that amazed me about Slot at Feyenoord. The two situations are a bit different, but within a very short period of time Slot manages to make a team look like a team coached by him. Having watched Feyenoord under Slot for 3 years and now seeing this Liverpool team I saw a lot of familiar rotations and positioning, and then seeing Liverpool turn everything up a notch in the second half was really familiar too. This is what he can make the team look like after 6 weeks so imagine what it could be in 6 months.

Regarding Nunez - this manager will either turn him into a lethal striker OR will bin him by January. There will be no sentiment. There will be no false loyalty. If Nunez gets his head down in training and doesn’t laugh when he misses a sitter but maximises what he can be, he will be superb. If he continues to be “goofy” Darwin, he’s out the door.

If Slot gets a tune out of Nunez the way he wants and Jota remains fit - they’ll both play over 45 games.
Nunez laughing when missing a chance is how he deals with it. Not an issue. Salah does the same. It’s better to laugh than being angry with oneself. Players have to quickly get over it, forgive themselves, and then focus on the next chance. No need to be hard on oneself, just to make some no-life fans feel like by being angry, you have satisfied their thirst for attonement.

It will also be nice to watch as Macca gets more comfortable with what his role is and behind to execute. To me, he seems like the type of guy that needs just a little bit of time to adjust but then will be world class. Lastly, it will be great to see Nunez in this side. Gravenberch was and is a world-class talent that was touted right up with Bellingham as the next big midfielder. He may well still live up to that! JQs position was a considerable distance behind the line Virgil wanted to hold whereas with Ibou you see he’s almost up right alongside him. One of the big moments in the 1st half that led to the sub IMO is the header from Greaves. He gets on top of JQ way too easily and gets off a dangerous header. It’s one of those ones where his lack of experience showed. We didn’t concede though so a learning experience that doesn’t hurt him or the team.

He juste needs to be a little more aggressive but he's Celtic vvd age I'm excited. I just hope Sepp Van de berg is great this season in his limited game time

Allowed us to have a more compact shape in possession and we used those back and forth string passes to create both of our goals and several other opportunities. Quansah is young. It's natural for him to take time to develop and adapt to a new system.

I agree LB/LCB is still an o/s gap to fill. At LCB we are taking a big risk asking VVD to cover that position on his own (or an equally big risk asking Quansah or Konate to play there when we need to rest Virg, or he is injured). At LB it is pretty clear to me that neither Robbo or Tsimikas has what it takes in this system - neither has the technique (ball control, body posture or passing) or footballing intelligence to play out comfortably when under pressure. Robbo is still better than Tsimikas going forward once the press is breached, and he is better defensively (though both are quite poor defensively). So a LCB/LB (a la Calafiori !) is what we really, really need. Ait Nouri looks great to me but is probably only able to cover the LB spot rather than both. Branthwaite would be perfect for me, and fuck the LFC/Everton thing, just get him - he is a real talent and perfect for the role(s) we need him to cover. Inacio has also been mentioned (after years of Liverpool 'interest' in the Gossip columns) - he would be fantastic on the ball, and make a paradigm shift in our left side play, but I am not sure he has the defensive physicality for the Premier League.

But here comes the problem, he is not as consistent nor as good as Robbo defensively, Ait Nouri is consistently good defensively and offensively, has great technical ability and just going into his prime, he would be the perfect signing, probably not this season because both Tsimikas and Robbo look like they're staying and still Slot first season, but very soon.

I can see Mac Allister not quite shining in this system. Almost a victim of his own versatility-can do a job anywhere but there's no clear role where he's the main man. Always felt he's at his best when most of the play goes through him. But that hasn't been his role so far, so I wonder whether he starts to look a bit ordinary. He lacks the physicality to contribute in the way Szoboszlai did yesterday.

I can see Mac Allister not quite shining in this system. Almost a victim of his own versatility-can do a job anywhere but there's no clear role where he's the main man. Always felt he's at his best when most of the play goes through him. But that hasn't been his role so far, so I wonder whether he starts to look a bit ordinary. He lacks the physicality to contribute in the way Szoboszlai did yesterday.

A 6 has to be able yo spot dangers and willing to sacrifice himself for his team. You've got to love that side of the game. Dont think grav is that type of player. Didnt see him chasing back too often. You need stamina and pace in midfield and not too many of our midfield have that.
