As a truck driver who runs a lowbed here in NYC and also plays drums. I know exactly how Omar is feeling as he walked in and saw this beautiful new kit. I equate it to the day I got my new kenworth w900 with all the bells and whistles.
One of my top 10 drummers. I feel in love with his style when he played on Sting’s Dream of the blue turtle album. Thanks Omar for all the tasty licks. 😊
I flew to NYC some years ago looking for my final kit. I went to the Long Island Drum Center and first asked Phil what he thought were the best sounding drums - period. He recommended I check out PEARL. The Pearl Master Series had been released earlier that year. I tried DW, Tama, Ayotte and several others and in my opinion the Pearl Masters was the best sounding kit I had ever heard. Phil wrote up the order and I had them shipped to my place in Montana. They still sound amazing to this day! Thanks so much Pearl and Long Island Drum Center and to Phil, who was so informative, kind and patient.
Simply one of the " Highest Order " of modern drumming greats! Omar is an absolute GOD on the drums. He, Weckl, Coluita, Bozo, Chambers, Carey, Lang, Blackman, Harrison, Mangini, Calhoun and many others I can't name here, are the High Priest' of modern drumming. Thanks for the upload! In fact, I saw Omar, Calhoun and Bozzio at a recent TOOL concert. I asked Calhoun and he how they liked the concert and they responded with the utmost highest praise! Class act!
This is from May 25th 2023 at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, TN. At 3:01 the drum Doctor interrupts Omar to ask for the symptoms he is experiencing....lol.
Gotta love Omar ..the kit sounds and looks beautiful. Just a suggestion bring the background music track down in the mix ...horns blowing over Omar's soft spoken vibe I was like what the? Hey the next comment will be loved the horns track in the background great mix so what do I know?! lol!
Nothing against Vinnie or Manu, but I wish Sting would of hung on to Omar for a couple more of his albums in the 80s. Omar's drumming on "The Dream of the Blue Turtles" album got your attention. It was fun, and had a different feel from the rest of that 80s vibe back then.
My 2005 Masters Birch kinda "do their own thing" from drum to drum but then again they aren't in a real acoustically viable environment in my "music room" in the house...im looking for add on drums in "166 black sparkle" and can't find em.

Omar is playing an Eliminator Redline Belt Drive Double Bass Drum Pedal in the video... pearldrum.com/products/drum-pedals/eliminator-2050-series/eliminator-redline-belt-drive-double-pedal
There is an immediacy to the stick hits at lower volumes that disappears once Omar digs in, then it becomes more of a balanced stick to drum transient thing. That is NOT how I would mic that kit, live or in a studio, but I understand why they did it that way. For one, the 81s as overheads isn't a great choice for anything but cymbal spots (for hats, it's the bomb, obviously). Two, back away from those skin heads and use only the E/V ND46, close in with Shures is just going to give you a punchy 2-dimensional rock thing, you need to capture each drum's breathing (can't do that close in unless you use a condenser, which would just be overly sensitive, cause bleed and produce spikes in a live setting). I would go with Austrian Audio CC8 mics as cymbal spots, a pair of Soyuz 013 as overheads (M/S Neumanns or AA's OC818 in-studio), and E/V ND46 and 68 for toms+kick, snare is salt to taste, the horizontal/side/rim 57 used in the video is fine, otherwise, a ND46 is also great for a fat snare if placed just right. My point is... that is potentially a great live or studio kit, just not the way it is micd in this video. As is, Omar's dynamics would be all over the place, live, unless he dug in consistently and he just doesn't do that, dude plays at any level at any moment and changes it up fast, like, real fast, as fast as he feels he needs to. Don't send him out there with a rock drummer's set up and expect him to not have to work way harder than he needs to.

Omar has always been one of my favorite players. So great to see Pearl doing great things! Keep groovin' the passion!
That kit sounds amazing! Omar is on of my favorites too.
I had the Omar Hakim 13x5” Signature Snare. Never should have sold it. Best sounding snare I’ve ever had.
Always wanted one of those. That was a great sounding snare.
WORD! I sold mine also! What was I thinking!
That snare is phenomenal
Omar Hakim is phenomenal; this man could play a set of pots and pans and make them dance. I love this guys playing.
Gorgeous!
Congrats Pearl!!!
I'm the proud owner of two Pearl kits and a Pearl Omar Hakim Signature Snare.
LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!!!
Omar Hakim is the best drummer in the world in my book. “Dream of the blue turtles” , “Children’s Crusade”
❤it
Great drumming on a great song.
Children's Crusade is an epic song show casing Omar's otherworldly talents. He is one of the most versatile drummers of our generation!
Love you Omar :). Thank you for ALL your amazing work. You have taught me a ton …. All the best.
This dude is just cool. Very few people are as comfortable in their own skin as Omar.
Great stuff Omar, I'm practicing China Girl at the moment, getting there slowly, love your drumming ❤

Me too! Love that snare!!!
Hakim, the legend of the drums.
Drums sound beautiful! I wanted to be Omar growing up! Love this guy!
Omar is such a cool dude and class act. Interesting that Pearl put the EC2 heads on both the top and bottom.
This is from May 25th 2023 at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville, TN.
At 3:01 the drum Doctor interrupts Omar to ask for the symptoms he is experiencing....lol.
A drummer magazine child favourite here 🤘

Omar is a legend!
WOW Omar Hakim
👍🏻😎Pearl drums are the best sounding drums money can buy.
They Sound awesome!!!
Il a tout un jeu, fluidité, technique, tout est là, j’adore son orchestration, dans son style, il me fait penser à Manu Katché
Wow, just...WOW!!!
still love your drumming!!
Love my 5x13 Mahogany Snare !
I'd love to know what heads were used. They have a big impact on tone. 🎉
Drums sound incredible as always. Those tube lugs were my favorite part about the look of those pearls tho. Sad theyre gone.
The low toms really show the quality -- wow
Awesome 🥁👍
Is that the same evans two ply heads on the reso side also on the shells? I have the fusion like it on top.
Omar you rule!,
Omar played the crap out of those drums. They sounded so great.
would someone pls explain to me the thinking/logic of putting the smaller rack tom on the right side?
Pearl, please PM me a detail of this kit w pricing so I can order easily through my local store :).
Gotta love Omar ..the kit sounds and looks beautiful. Just a suggestion bring the background music track down in the mix ...horns blowing over Omar's soft spoken vibe I was like what the? Hey the next comment will be loved the horns track in the background great mix so what do I know?! lol!
Are those EC2's as resos too? 🤔
Very good
WOW! KILLA!
Good drums. But they sound this good mostly because he is a great player. One of the best. Omar kills. Love his signature snare.
Are those EC2’s as resonant heads on the toms?
Kinda looks like it, huh?
Who tuned those?
Nothing against Vinnie or Manu, but I wish Sting would of hung on to Omar for a couple more of his albums in the 80s. Omar's drumming on "The Dream of the Blue Turtles" album got your attention. It was fun, and had a different feel from the rest of that 80s vibe back then.
Does anyone know why some guys do this? Putting the small drum on the end like that? It was tuned low too. Aggravates my ocd every time
What is the music in the bed track? It's amazing! Is that Omar's?
This is from the performance portion of our event with Cory Wong... those videos are coming soon.
Great👍
Dope.
Great video! What sizes is he playing here?

Those are insanely cool kits.
I'm curious about the switch from Fat Tone hoops to die cast. Why and how would it improve the sound? I love my Pures so I'd like to know.
Focuses the tone. Less overtone.
they wanted to be more like tama… again
HI-END REIMAGINED aka The New Omar Kit
What heads are on the resos?
Im shocking with Omar and the frist background music. Can someone tell me what song is it?

Ec2s s top and bottom......mmmmmm. ....interesting. .....bloody works tho
Omar doesn't age. In fact, he looks younger than in the days when he was playing with Sting.
WHAT PEDAL IS THAT!??!
Omar is playing an Eliminator Redline Belt Drive Double Bass Drum Pedal in the video... pearldrum.com/products/drum-pedals/eliminator-2050-series/eliminator-redline-belt-drive-double-pedal
@@PearlDrumsUS yes it's an eliminator redline but it's also a direct drive. Is this a custom setup? Pearl only offers direct drive on demon pedals.
It is a belt drive pedal... pearldrum.com/products/drum-pedals/eliminator-2050-series/eliminator-redline-belt-drive-double-pedal
@@PearlDrumsUS you're right, thanks. It looked like a direct drive to me at first.
I think the sound is delightful more than mike mangini series
The badges are almost as big as the drums

"No more through the shell?"
For like 20 years now?!?
Does he even knows he plays Pearl drums?!
Come on
L Tom arms after all these years seems like I lost any certainty in my life 😮
Lol sounds like drums to me
Omar could make a coal bucket sound good.
thank God he doesn't an EMAD on his floor toms. I hate that.
What heads are on the batter and reso?
