The very premise of Om Shanti Om portraying Om Prakash Makhija as a struggling junior artist despite his skills who had to take a rebirth as a star kid with no talent in the second half of the film, tells a lot about the industry...

Isn't it about the amount of promotions they do, if you're an outsider you need exclusively 1 month of tireless promotions and promising music, posters and everything else to grab our attention, whereas these star kids needs nothing, they are photographed from such young age and also their movie promotions has lot of reach because of the money and the access to the stars who promotes it. For example, take a movie which is produced by Karan johar, every other actor from SRK to alia Bhatt will promote it, this will reach more audience and we follow them in millions( think about the reach)
We all have busy life we want our money to be spent wisely, you will go to a Sanjay Leela bhansali rather than a movie you barely know!
It's time we boycott these people who are hungry for money and fame.

That's easier said than done. The truth is with the kind of stress people have in their lives, they need a way for an escape. And cinema is one such venue for this. Accept it, watching a masala Salmaan film in a theatre with hooting and cheering is much more enticing and appealing to the masses than the slow burn story-driven good creative content movies. It is not going to change overnight and would definitely take years.

One of the examples of this Nepotism is
When the cast of Simmba was on the set of The Kapil Sharma Show, where Rohit Shetty openly said that Sara Ali Khan 'called' him in frustration for some work in movies, while she had done no movies by then.
This is the liberty that Star Kids have.
And Can we think even an established actor like Vicky Kaushal or Rajkumar Rao calling a big producer/director like this ?
Nepotism may give some good results but still it sucks.

Our individual responsibilty are as follows:
1)Focus and give more attention to deserving people who made a mark on the industry throught their real and true struggle.
2)Don't spread hate as it can cause more problems and it wouldn't change the perception of the Bollywood mafia aka Karan Johar.
3)Make sure that u are well educated on the topic of nepotism and the background of all the actors. As some of them had silver spoon in mouth while the rest had Thier own hands to feed themselves.
4)Last but not the least , provide encouragement to young aspiring actors so that we get more better actors in the industry and show the aspiring actors some love as they go through hell lot is problems.

A lot of people are suspicious of Shushant Singh Rajput's Death and demand an investigation to reveal the murders, well I'll make it easy for you. His killers are the audience...It's you, me and every one of us who keep watching mindless clichéd masala movies of the talentless Starkids...whereas a true artist like Shushant had to literally beg his fans to consume his art. If only we got this maturity a little sooner and stopped with the Hero worshipping(and yeah India's the only country where we address actors as Hero and Heroine) and realized that Cinema doesn't only mean Entertainment(it's not just limited to these masala films) and started appreciating true talent...we could've stopped a real artist from ending himself.
A lot of people came at me by saying that they watch these masala movies of these so called stars to relieve their stress from work & day to day life....SERIOUSLY!? are we, the consumers of Bollywood, the only working people in the world? No but certainly the only people with this bullshit mindset of Cinema. It's a high time people, please start watching movies of true filmmakers and do some homework before you decide to watch anything....Cuz we live in a society where people can argue with a poor vendor for a couple of bucks but don't think much before spending hundreds of rupees for a movie....I can go on and on but it won't change anything untill the average audience stay true to the claims that they are making on social media.

Well I agree that he works hard and he is disciplined. Other than being smashingly handsome and he can act, there is one other thing going for Akshay, and that is the time he was introduced in Bollywood. The 90s did not have so much Nepotism and groupism like today, the selection of actors were also limited. In a way things were in his favour, those days were slightly different. I started appreciating Akshay in recent days when he started making sensible films. But to say hard work and discipline is the only way, I don’t agree. Hard work and discipline toh Sushant bhi karta tha along with Ayushmann, Irrfan, Raj kumar rao, Tapsee, Bhumi, KK, Manoj Vajpai, John Abraham, Kangna and so many others have worked extremely hard. When the day comes of everyone getting fair treatment of doing auditions and chances.. then nobody would scream abt the obvious golden treatment towards a starkid. A starkid gets 3 signed lead movies deals without any screen test n audition where an outsider needs to check 5 different boxes to get a supporting role. Arjun kapoor had so many flops but still gets lead roles.. WHY?? The guy cant act to save his life

You really don't get it, do you?

When people say boycott Nepotism, they're talking about the endless list of mediocre to just plain bad actors that Nepotism has given us for decades, how it snatches opportunities from the deserving talents, how the starkid's name becomes bigger than the art of film making, how this culture has left Bollywood 20 years behind where it should be and how it's been destroying careers & lives of those who ever dream of making their name through their work in this mafia ruled industry.

    • @shibineb
      @shibineb 4 года назад +31

I will give you a few examples -
      Hrithik Roshan.
Rakesh Roshan didn't launch him just because he had reached a certain suitable age. He got his son ready for the big screen like we had never seen before. Hrithik learnt acting, dancing & made a physique that was unseen for any male leads.
      Fahad Faazil.
Made his debut in early 2000s. Was really poor in it. Got trolled & criticized by many for it. Unlike Bollywood nepotism products what he did was that he took a break, went to acting school, came back 8 years later & he is one of the best actors in the country today.
Same with Tamil actor Karthi. Made his debut in his 30s because he wanted to learn acting first.
You will never see people speaking against these actors. Because they CARE about their art.

I had a friend in college, we joined drama club. I became the writer and he chose to become actor.
I didn't know anything about story writing or acting so I researched on it, as more days passed by I started hating bollywood movies for their monotony of ideas or variety
I started cringing at most bollywood movies and instead learned to appreciate good actors
On the contrary, my friend attended 2 workshops, his ego got to his head and he started appreciating these cliché, lackluster bollywood action and comedy movies.
What do you learn from this? Well.... Do what I did... Research on your craft, watch and learn to consume good content that is actually worth your time so that you can evolve as a person and develop good taste
Stop supporting dumb pretend actors like Salman Khan who can do only 4 expressions on total
Stop supporting directors, producers like Karan Johan, Farah Khan who allow nepotism to literally seize the ENTIRE industry and close doors on actual people who struggled to make it on their own

I really like what Akshay Kumar said at the end. Professionalism is the only way to advance your career. Some of the biggest stars in Bollywood are outsiders with no one in Bollywood. Two examples other than Akshay Kumar are Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. Anushka Sharma had said in an interview ‘star kids do get the initial leverage but it’s talent and the will to persevere that takes you to the top’. If all star kids succeeded then we wouldn’t have failed star kids in Bollywood and we’ve plenty of them. Nepotism exists in all careers, at least in Bollywood it’s open to us public to criticize.

I want to highlight this thing for sure: I remember this incidence very vividly when during this Diwali 2 commercial films were released Housefull 4 and Saand ki Aankh (I am not going into the detail of the cast ke the cast was "outsider" this in not my particular point here.) I saw the box office collection and H4 earned 20 times as SkA. I asked one of my friend why did he choose H4 over SkA he blatantly replied "Agar Same paisa deke I can watch 4 beautiful girls exposing themselves in every corner of the screen, then why would I watch a movie with two Buddhiyaans in a gaon doing shooting!!!"We should also learn to choose content over the "beauty quotient" in a film.

In the 80s, Amitabh Bachchan dropped out of a movie with Kamal Haasan because he thought Kamal would get more acclaim out of the movie than him. He didn't want an upcoming actor from another state to gain more traction in Bollywood (at least that's how it comes off as)

This is by far one of your best and most relevant videos. The industry is being held captive by the star kids and they feel it is their birthright to stardom. It is resulting in record number of flops and financial disasters. The only way for any industry or business to succeed is merit. Be it via an unknown hero or star daughter. Nepotism has to end. For ever!

What I think is we should start watching movies from a good critical perspective rather than just enjoying for a time and learn it as an art....
We need to act as students and study what are the characteristics of a good art( which is not the actor or actress)

As an audience 2 things comes to my mind whenever I heard its the "because of star kids" "blame on nepotism".
1)I Looked at box office collection of movies like Tamasha, October , Uddan and than Race3. And wondered why if audience knows where the talent then why sensible movies are doing so poorly. While garbage movies are earning so well?
    2) We audience love ot blame or hate anything without doing any research first.
Let's take nepotism for example. Ranbir Kapoor is in Bollywood because of nepotism. However even though he landed through connection he proved that he is worthy of the space. And there are other star kids who have proven their merit.
So I will request audience to judge people on basis of their talents and not who's son or daughter they are. Judge the movie on basis of plot , execution and not soley out of sympathy or blind fan. Otherwise it will make us what we r going against. Yes , hypocritic and double standard.
At the end I agree we need to call out media and insiders of bollywood for doing wrong. But we audience also need to be responsible. And gladly we witnessed that in past year.
