    I think the point Aamir Khan makes about Slumdog Millionaire makes a lot of sense. Speaking English (and doing so well, especially in a foreign accent) is a mark of social status. It indicates that you are "well-off" which defeats the purpose of the film :')

    • @Vor567tez
      @Vor567tez 3 года назад +31

      Lot of people mistake Slumdog Millionaire as bollywood or Indian movie but it is actually British Drama movie. The director was Britisher hence the language was English.
      Just because it's based in India and have Indian actor doesn't make it Indian movie otherwise Shang Chi and the legend of ten rings and Black Panther wouldn't be called Hollywood movie.
      Also the movie won because of white director. Maybe people of India don't know this but Oscar's have been well known for their racism. If it wasn't for a white director AR Rahman wouldn't hv been noted.
      Indian's need to get over with SM and Oscar obsession.

    extraction is another example, its a decent movie but if you see and hear the scenes and sounds in dhaka, it is very authentic. You can hear hindi songs ankhiyon se goli maare, ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga and mere gully mein playing in the background as they are a big fan of bollywood songs. You can also see that it is very similar to india the colonies, the people, the houses, the areas, etc. Another thing is that they had many hindi dialogues. Ofcourse, the producers are the russo's so you expect a lot from them - the authenticity, the imapct, the easter eggs, etc.

      I'm from Bangladesh and nothing in the Extraction movie was authentic about Dhaka. The houses, the nature, and ESPECIALLY THE ACCENT. Nothing was similar.

    I found Vidya is very straightforward when it comes to reveal her struggle days she was asked to give her kundali just because the vetran actor (I don't recall his name) who is about to teach her acting believes in Jaytoish and That person doesn't want to invest his time whose stars are not very well source : The Anupam Kher show Colors

    3:30 srk and sanjay dutt have given many interviews in the 90s while smoking on the camera
    And the last point, I agree with amir khan... if movies in languages other than US english can be winners at oscars, why make a glossy version of "poor india, hungry india"? Imagine Mother India and Mughal e azam being made for the oscars and not having it's authenticity!! As it is oscars are overrated. Mother India, Mughal e Azam, awara/shree 420 or even Pyaasa can EASILY be termed league above most (give or take a couple over the century) movies of global industry.
