It's crazy to me that it's 2024 and shit like that still happens and is widely ignored
Although this is specifically Australian Indigenous, I think everybody (Native Americans, Africans and other indigenous peoples) share this generational trauma. The exact same story just different continents.
Almost all peoples of the globe now share this history. Colonizers are formerly colonized people who are repressing their trauma & thus taking it out/recreating it on others. I believe trauma is the catalyst that makes civilizations (what I think of as social cancer) grow.
This is a very real pain that all Indigenous people experience who have had their land, culture and identity taken away from them. It is heartbreaking to hear that a lot of white people don't recognise the trauma we have/still do cause and the advantages and privileges we receive because of the violence and discrimination that Indigenous/Aborigional cultures endure.

There is no logical sense in you saying "sorry" for your forefathers. The whole history of mankind is build upon force and violence and we should not wish to do away with it (such a wish would be utterly absurd since you cannot change the past). One should educate oneself on what happened but not feel the guild of one's forefathers. There has already been too much guild-feeling in the world so far. As of today, it seems that generally these problems have been largely fixed and it would be much more sensible if people didn't take the side of fanaticism of either side as it leads to toxic tribalism.
@@georgalem3310 i disagree that the problems have been fixed. There are still many issues with institutional biases that exacerbate the marginalization of already marginalised people. My grandma (Yey) went in to see her one day and saw her tied up in a dark room and beaten. They tied her arms with ropes to a chair and yelled at her My yey demanded that my mom could leave, but the workers did not let my mom leave until my yey called the cops. This is exactly what I felt in my heart. I feel the genocide in my genes. Our land absorbed so much blood throughout time, almost all the wars in Europe were on our land and up until now the injustice and oppression is present I face it every day, even though it seems like those times are over, yet nobody even knows about it, they hide it very well. I can feel the generational traumas in people's behaviour, i can hear the land crying for change and cleansing. When I realised my parents are the children born of parents that survived the ww2 and saw the terror face to face, it all made sense and made it easier for me to forgive for their behavior. We are the ones in our families to clean all the generational suffeing and pain, and start clean for our children, for a healthy community, for a caring wolrd!❤ we got this 💪🏼 P.S. Hi Healing Foundation- May I ask who you used to create such an amazing video animation? I’m an Indigenous lecturer and would love to create resources such as this in my teaching.
Hi Kevin, thanks for your message and glad you enjoyed the animation. Email us at community@healingfoundation.org.au and we can pass on the details you're after.
As a Cuban who has endured generations of communism, this hits home. I want myself and my people to heal, communism has ingrained so much generational trauma in us all, it’s still affecting people like me who escaped young and even newer generations that haven’t even lived under the evil regime. We need freedom from communism first, and the true healing. God help us 😞
In my opinion Trauma would not have been limited to the Indigenous people only during the colonization of Australia. British convicts that had no say in coming to Australia would have been traumatized, they were uprooted from their country which probably caused home sickness and lose of families, then forced to work the land in Australia, ill treated by those in power and there was a lost generation of children sent to Australia and recent history demonstrates the treatment these children suffered. In Australia between 1950 and 1970 (not such when it finished) children from unmarried mothers and families that were considered unable to care for children, had their children stolen from them, causing another stolen generation. I acknowledge that Indigenous suffered trauma but I believe whites did also. The country needs to heal but it should involve all people not just the indigenous it should again in my opinion be an equal partnership going forward.
Leonie Rowe Your comment reminded me of the movie, “The Nightingale”, that came out not too long ago, relating to terrible stuff that some of the convicts went through, but as well as us Indigenous people as well, by colonialists.
Reading everyone's comments, and just commkn since. Its not color, Religion or generation. Or anything else. We are the only ones that can understand each other and we are more than the Population.
As a mixed native-white person, stop asking people "what tribe do you come from". Even mixed-bloods don't know their cultural roots. Just because our ancestors mated with the white man does not make us any less native American. I just want people to remember that blood can be muddied by whites too. We didn't want this, don't call us white when our ancestors were raped by your men. I do not like the cancel culture we have which will not acknowledge that "passing as white" does not equal "being a white man"
I fully fully agree! I recently had my DNA test conducted by Ancestry DNA and I am only 24% Nigerian there is a piece of blood inside of my body from a world wide multi-cultural tribe which even includes 1% Spain. I am a Multi-Racial American because I was born in California, USA.
My country has faced wars, colonization and many other forms of violence. Now we're one of the poorest and dirtiest countries in the world. And the violence older people has faced seems to be transmitted from generation to generation. Nobody's truly happy. Especially my parents. They seem to have done some efforts, but it's still hard for them to develop. They used to hit us and yell at us, but everytime they do, they seem to regret doing it so bad... That's why my mission is to stop this violence from happening and to give them the love and care they couldn't receive when they were younger. :D
Would love to know the reasons why there are people that have disliked this video. This hits close to home with my Mother being of the stolen generation.

Anyone else here from Mary-Annes ECU class? Everyone did OK with the first assignment? I know I didn't haha. On a different note - I think we need to look to Poland for advice on how to deal with Colonisation and its negative effects on society. Poland has been colonised and decolonised a lot of times throughout history, and they seem to bounce back - what can we take from their situation to learn how other Indigenous people around Earth can reassert their culture?

Our land absorbed so much blood throughout time, almost all the wars in Europe were on our land and up until now the injustice and oppression is present I face it every day, even though it seems like those times are over, yet nobody even knows about it, they hide it very well. I can feel the generational traumas in people's behaviour, i can hear the land crying for change and cleansing. When I realised my parents are the children born of parents that survived the ww2 and saw the terror face to face, it all made sense and made it easier for me to forgive for their behavior.
We are the ones in our families to clean all the generational suffeing and pain, and start clean for our children, for a healthy community, for a caring wolrd!❤ we got this 💪🏼
P.S. My land's name is MACEDONIA 🤍🙏🏼✨️
those voice actors are great
I Love this video and perspective , I'm wondering how I might go about getting permission to use the animation as a projection behind a performance I am doing later this year, My ground is called "INDIGENOISE" a group of multicultural youth from Byron bay.
this is very sad. 😣😖
Very good! Thank you for made it!
This makes me so sad..
This is wonderful
As a descendant of Irish who were abused in Canada during the 1840s and 1850s I resonate with this.
Hi there! I am working on a project for a class on intergenerational trauma and wanted to know if I could get access to your video (and give credit of course!)
Beautifully done! Very eloquent and truthful! Speaks to the impacts of colonial trauma, cultural trauma inflicted by colonizers and the outcomes.
It not only has to do with imperialism but other things too.
Beautiful
I pry that God help you and heal your wounds
As Dalit or Untouchable from india this video was very beautiful ❤️
I love Jack Charles he’s amazing
It's a great message. But what's the end game? What's the goal for the people driving this motion?
Healing, I think.
It's so they can find excuses to keep theirs violent, lazy culture.
beautiful video
I love the animation of this incredibly powerful video. Can you tell us who did it?
Hi Shanna. Email us at community@healingfoundation.org.au and we will let you know. Thanks!
Beautiful!
This applies to all the peoples of earth !
Hmm this country will be our land ❤️🖤💛
Why are captions unavailable? Even in English?
Hi Adriana. You can find a version with captions here: ruclips.net/video/Y-RaB19D13E/видео.html&t=
As a white American I feel this to as I was under the oppression of the tyrannical British and discriminated against
Hi Healing Foundation- May I ask who you used to create such an amazing video animation? I’m an Indigenous lecturer and would love to create resources such as this in my teaching.
Hi Kevin, thanks for your message and glad you enjoyed the animation. Email us at community@healingfoundation.org.au and we can pass on the details you're after.
I’m Filipino and this hit hard.
good info !
I understand now what my cousin said when she said "find your community."
Puh the stolen generation is one of the worst things Ive heard about. So sad
God help us 😞
Indigenous populations around the planet are experiencing this phenomenon even now especially in Africa!
The past no more exists then the future. It only hurts if you choose to carry it with you.
Amazing - thank you :)
I think Uncle Jack Charles is narrating this.
Hi Pam, Yes it is Uncle Jack Charles.
Time to heal ❤
Beautifully depicted
Reading everyone's comments, and just commkn since. Its not color, Religion or generation. Or anything else. We are the only ones that can understand each other and we are more than the Population.
Who directed this film?
It’s insane. Very similar to Canada.
Touching story 😢😢😢 with God all things are possible.
Your ancestors raped your other ancestors. Got it
Similar things happened to the Irish...oh, and what about the Polish caught between two hulks of power and culture?
Is there anyway we can get this video closed captioned? I would really like to use this for my class.

Intergenerational healing.,..
.....heal it !
Incredible stuf.
Would love to know the reasons why there are people that have disliked this video. This hits close to home with my Mother being of the stolen generation.
epigenetics, biological inheritance. those affect all of us, not just aboriginal pepole. we are all involved :)
ancestral / original sin, or generational curse and epigenetics, they all have very similar mechanics.
very interesting topic and beautiful animation though!
@@femmefatale71 ok
how can I put portuguese sub?
the reason why my life is so fucked and my dad was never around
🖤🖤🖤
Similar story with all Adoptees - not the way Disney tells it
I love Uncle Jack Charles voice
Anyone else here from Mary-Annes ECU class? Everyone did OK with the first assignment? I know I didn't haha.
On a different note - I think we need to look to Poland for advice on how to deal with Colonisation and its negative effects on society. Poland has been colonised and decolonised a lot of times throughout history, and they seem to bounce back - what can we take from their situation to learn how other Indigenous people around Earth can reassert their culture?
Every country in Europe has......
I would like to translate this to arabic why does it have cc
😢
