- Today, we're joined by Sam Marino, owner of Marino Landscape out in Washington Twp, Michigan! Sam and his team opened up their beautiful facility and gave us a tour to show us what 20 years in business looks and the incredible legacy they've built.
The facility, yard, and shop are optimized to help the 20+ crews roll out each morning to tackle the day efficiently. The offices are beautiful, too, with recently renovated interiors to give their team the best places to work and manage the business.
It was great getting to spend time with Sam and his guys. They have a great thing going on there! Check them out more at www.MarinosLandscape.com

Thank you for the support! And as always, thank you for watching.
Thanks for the tour Sam, this was awesome!
Hope you guys enjoyed this spring tour series!
Big thanks again to LMN, Ballard Products, Equipment Defender and Kujo Yardwear for sponsoring this year’s tour!
Thanks for coming Brian. I enjoyed the video it came out great. 👍
Legend has it he walks backwards to move forward.
Dude walked on the treadmill all week to prepare for this tour. (Backwards, of course).
Two Miles Back Peddling
This guy is good at walking backwards!
LOL, the amount of takes it took because I kept giving Sam a hard time. He did amazing for his first real time doing a video for RUclips! Dudes great.
I was amazed I didn’t fall backwards at any point, that would have got some good views lol 😂
Anyone who works lawn care is good at walking backwards we usually weed whip walking backwards
I kinda got a kick out of watching him walk backwards 😂, but that is a pretty cool setup.
I do enjoy your shop tour series and I think everyone can take away some valuable information from these. I do think however, that it would be nice showing some smaller companies. For example, a company less than 1 million in revenue. Not sure of the exact percent but I would say less than 5 percent of all landscape companies ever make it over 1 million dollars in annual revenue. Seeing these huge shops are nice, but it's kind of like looking at a Ferrari at a car dealership but knowing it's not likely attainable or that you would ever own one. It would be nice to see shops that from smaller companies who have done well. I think it would resonate more with your audience.
Love that idea. We can always try to focus on some of those in the future. The only problem is, most of the smaller companies are just thoroughly busy (like myself) and couldn't really spare a half day to hang out and do a podcast/film a video. I'm sure we could figure it out though. Stay tuned!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance Sounds good. Maybe scheduling some post Spring rush. I'm sure you would find most smaller companies to be very interested in having you highlight their company. With your platform, I'm sure they would love the extra exposure. It's always nice to dream of a huge facility but the reality is that having a nice shop (like yours) doesn't have to mean being a 7-figure business. Showcasing smaller businesses that are super successful will help inspire the smaller guys or startups who I'm sure are the majority of your subscribers.
@@billdoten4211 and to be honest smaller firms can earn more profits because they have a better ability to manage operations and eliminate waste much faster. Ie Torre & Burglio who began in 1979 as a small firm and grew to as multi million dollar company running over 600 plus employees during peak season until selling to the Brickman Group in 2010 would run huge accounts payables deficits, one year they had over a$125,000 restocking fees at Ray Weigands Nursery due to disorganization and communication problems between estimators, purchasers and project managers. It’s much harder to change and implement systems when you grow extremely fast and cost quickly get out of control compared to a slow growth strategy and focus on keeping operations smaller and change can be implemented quickly to keep costs under control.
Such a sick series Brian, thank you! The timing is perfect, as the spring ends and we get into peak summer. It is very motivational to see what every else is up to!
Glad you enjoyed it! 📈❤️
Clearly well thought out of how the trucks/ crews move about through the yard very impressive
Check out the video on North Point Outdoors by Greens Industry Podcast w/Paul Jamison. Unbelievable how organized and tasked oriented their layout is.
Love to!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance it would be a great tour next year plus a trip to New Hampshire 👍. Thanks for the tours very informative and helpful great work.
I always watch that company here in the Bloomfield Michigan area. I didn't imagine it was so big. The video turned out great, friend, as always, good content. I hope you take a tour of Timberland Landscape. It shows that they are also a very large company.
That’s awesome to hear! I’ll have to look up the recommendation, thanks bro!
@@BriansLawnMaintenance You're welcome bro, I always get so distracted watching your tours of landscaping companies. They are my favorite videos. They motivate me a lot.
Thank You 🙏
“Garfield”
I like what Mr Marino said. Some heavy snow work. there.
whats up brian!?
I so badly want to watch and like your shop tour videos but I can’t get over one thing… YOU NEVER TURN THE CAMERA! HINT - when the person being interviewed points to something, that’s because they want you to film that certain thing but you never turn the camera off the person. Please start turning the camera.
I do always try to grab b roll of shots that people point to my friend. Thanks for the feedback ❤️
I get that but in all honesty, your viewers are watching the videos to see trucks, equipment, shop tools and office space. Why not focus more on those things than the person talking?
Have you heard of semmer landscape , do it for next year man please
I haven’t! Where are they located?
@@BriansLawnMaintenance their located the south suburbs of Chicago, they have been in business for 10 years, and they have an amazing shop with over 50 trucks and more than 80 employees, but I still loved the videos you dropped amazing series man!
Just picked up my Redmax EBZ 9000’s yesterday from my dealer.
They are absolute monsters.
Let’s see a video on it when you get yours, Brian!
my dad used to work there
Do they acquire other lawn care business?
That I’m not sure!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sam personifies the man who understands how to treat people, customers and team members alike, very effective way to have success in business.
Wish him continued success!
One day Brian this could be you,!!
That’s the goal! ❤️
Marinoquin or mannequino
lol love that
Seems like a good guy. Very sincere.
Thank You that means a lot. Always try to do the right thing, even when no one is looking. Even if it means walk back wards for a little 😉
Thanks My Man 😊
Brian just got to try my first ex Mark experience. I’m a Toro guy, but those exmarcks are very nice machines they cut very very nice. Keep up the hustle brother might you at G.I.e brother
Love to hear that!
This looks like United Landscapes old yard.
Exactly. It’s United Lawnscapes old facility they built in 2004. They moved further North to Almont into a larger building.
@@tristenklein5940 good to see United expanding and another company expanding to use this building.
oh
How do you know
@@adrianhernandez2198 Because I worked for them back in 2005-2010. They have now transferred into just Commercial Maintenance after being purchased by Aspen Grove Landscape Companies which is a national company working in the Midwest.
Manicon is a solid name 😭🤣🤣🤣
Dan marino
If you had an employee accidently/ negligently put straight gas into a p9010 blower on atleast 2 occasions what would you do?
1) figure out a system why he didn’t put the correct fuel in, 2) ask him why the incident happened the first time, let alone a second time, 3) ask him how you can ensure he fuels it correctly, otherwise you’ll be forced to let him go as a repercussion.
Bro you are awesome. I seriously did not know where else to turn to ask this question as it just happened on our last job today. What was the name of your community group again? Im sure the group is a splended resource given the support I recieved here.
Also our system is red cans straight, yellow cans mix no diesel on site.
@oharacare anytime man! ❤️
