If you're going to race on the freeway, do it when the road is empty at 1:00 in the morning. Bonus points if you do it during the middle of the week when the roads are even more empty than they are on the weekends at that time

Hell no, that's a easy ticket, that's when cops are definitely out. Going in a straight line fast or slow is stupid as hell......it doesn't do anything. Go on the back roads or mountain drives and preferably at day or morning. You'll be able to truly learn your car and be safe with your limit. Trying to go 120 in 60 seconds is not fun all the time. Actually use the car and skills and drive within your limit..going completely psycho at night will definitely give you a deer through your windshield or you in jail...ask me how I know...had to learn my lesson.

Exhaust was the first mod i did to my car too lol. I got my first car, a 2002 mitsubishi lancer OZ rally in summer 2019 and later that year got my license. Within less than a year of having the car I was falling in love with cars again for the first time since I was 12. Started with just an aftermarket muffler, then decided to go louder with a resonator delete, then eventually deleted the muffler too 😂 it actually still doesn't sound bad. In 2021 I picked up a 1997 M Edition Miata, drove it for a couple years and it just got totaled two months ago (hit while parked). I wish I was more of a D bag when I had that car, I wish I drove it more and I wish I abused it more lol. That being said there's tons of events and you can still spec your car to be both fast and practical. Believe me when I say the owner base hypes them more than arguably the Supra fanboys lol.
Enjoy the car tho and ignore the hate if you got an auto. Plenty of mfs in japan have the CVT equipped ones and they have some sick biulds. I found an article where one guy even did Tsukuba time attacks in his CVT. Pretty sick.

A track day at Laguna Seca is ONLY $300?!
I mean, if you factor in about $150 for fuel for the whole day, and the safety gear is a one-time investment that will last for other track days... I'm not sure how much track day insurance cost (I'd assume maybe for a Dark Horse it's like $500)... $1000 to race for the day in a car you're getting to keep?? When you're paying roughly that amount for something like Xtreme Experience, and some tracks require membership that's in the 5 figure numbers just to drive there? If you've got a decent paying job, that's expensive yeah, but significantly less than anything I had ever imagined...

I run SCCA rally cross. Entry fee for the day is $65, and a weekend pass is $15. So $80 isn't too bad. However, that's just the surface of cost. I have to run high octane and will go through roughly a full tank through the day. 11gal at $4.50 is about $50 a tank. Now a day's racing is $130. Trailer rental (because driving a 7mpg gutted out Subaru 6hrs to the track isn't fun) is $120 for the weekend and fuel for the truck to tow it is $75 each way. Up to $400 now. Since it's dirt racing, it's good to do an oil change after every event, so tack on an additional $35. And because parts will inevitably break and stuff like tires and brakes get worn over the course of a season, it's safe to factor in an additional $75-150 per race in repairs. Up to $585 now. I camp at the track in a hammock so I don't have any lodging expenses, and I'm able to be cheap on food with my race weekend meals plan consisting of hot tea or water, a loaf of cheap bread and a jar of cheap peanut butter, which all in all is only about $10 for the weekend.
It costs me just about $600 to do a single day event of racing in which I do 6 runs of maybe .5 of a mile each. If I were to do the full 14 race season that the group I run with puts on, I would be out $8400 a year. And rally cross is one of the cheapest forms of racing that you can get into as there's very minimal safety requirements aside from a Snell helmet and a functional car.

Stats racers are so annoying. I used to be them too. it hits hard when i started to gain perspective, either it doesnt matter or i mostly did that on folks who made more money and knowledge than me.
later i saw another dude making fun of someone buying r35 (comparing it to porsche) and making fun of another dude for scrolling on marketplace for evo x (comparing it to other evos). Yeah fun fact that stat racer didnt disclose their daily driver.

Actually as far as this list goes, they're not d bags at all lmao. They take it to the outskirts and their cars are all race purpose lol

Hi, i just bought my own first car at 24 after 4 years of driving my old mom’s car.
I really like cars, and would love to be part of a community of people with the same interest as me, but i fear the gatekeep and to not be accepted.
For money/tax related reasons, i had to choose a version of a car wich comes with a notorious bad engine (even tho, i think isn’t as terrible as people say if properly maintained, is just the internet exaggerating things as always), also i really want to mod my car a bit, but i cannot afford it rn, also in my country almost all mods are illegal or need to be approved by authorities.
I think is kinda lame to go to meet and post my car on social media, since is stock and quite hated on.
But i really like my car, so it makes me quite sad
