- The Dallas Stars will take on the defending Stanley Cup champion Vegas Golden Knights in round one of the Stanley Cup playoffs. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey gives his initial thoughts on the matchup against the Knights and argues that their is no better time to take on the champs than right now. We also look at some of the storylines such as Pete DeBoer facing his former club again, Mark Stone vs Jamie Benn, Chris Tanev and Noah Hanifin as two of the trade deadline pick ups for their respective sides and more! It may feel unfair that the Stars reward for winning the Western Conference is to face a Vegas team that used the cap to their advantage, but life is unfair and so is the playoffs sometimes. We then transition into Joey's top 10 best players in the series. It's headlined by defensemen Miro Heiskanen, Joey explains the decision process behind his rankings and some honorable mentions that could have a huge impact. To finish off the episode, Joey goes around the entire NHL playoffs and gives his thoughts on each of the first round matchups and who he believes will win each series. He has a hunch that Carolina will represent the Eastern Conference in the Stanley Cup final.

More like the knights choose dallas over edmonton. L.A also wanted to play the stars. Obviously l.a and vegas thinks the stars are lesser opponent.
I don’t know about LA but I’m a Vegas fan and I think the team choose the 3 central teams because we have a better record (8-1) against those over the 3 others Canucks/Oilers/Preds (4-4-2).
They rested Hanifin, Mantha and Stephenson against Anaheim when they could have played the game. They obviously wanted to lose, but everybody saying Vegas are awful.. cannot beat ducks, Stars are so superior!!!
Also that 2nd goal hill let in was so soft, it looked like it had to be on purpose

Vancouver fan here. Rooting for you guys in this match-up. I think the Stars got this. Dallas has been great all season. Vegas has underwhelmed. I also disagree with you in that I don't think it is a great match-up. This is a better Stars team and a worse Vegas team. I think you're better everywhere. I see Vegas's only chance is all these injured players coming back and I foresee them taking a while to get back in the swing of things. By the time they do Vegas will already be out. You're right though if Vegas somehow survives they're only going to get stronger.
I think you gotta have Pavs in the top ten, he just always shows up in the playoffs. Good episode though!

It’s about revenge for getting beat in the Western Conference Final last year. It’s payback time, hopefully our defense is up to the challenge this time. This series is going to be a hell of a battle. Jake Oettinger has to be on point between the pipes he better bring his A game. Dallas Stars will win 🥇 in 7 games.
Also I agree with you...tanking to avoid the Oilers to play Dallas? Horrible decision. That same 2 man team is eventually brought down by goaltending, defense and lack of forward depth every year. They never fix those issues so why would things be different?

Going to Game 1 tonight with a lot of optimism. Stars in 5.
As a Vegas fan I wouldn’t be shocked if you guys win in 5. You’re not the team of last year and we’re not the team of last year. Our team has been destroyed with injuries all season and even if those guys come back for playoffs , 1. They won’t be fully healthy they’re gonna be forcing themselves to play through injuries , and 2. Even if they come back the chances of them being able to find that chemistry with the team again after months of not playing is unlikely .
Now. IF they’re somehow able to do those things ? Then I think we win in 6. But I just doubt highly they’ll be able too. Also I’m honestly just happy to pull you guys instead of Edmonton . I’d MUCH prefer to lose to you guys and Deboer (who I always liked) then Edmonton and those fucking insufferable fans . So . May the best team win. Good luck to you guys ! Respect 👍🏼
I disagree with your take. All but Mark stone has played with Hertl, Mantha and Hanifin. All that really matters is how healthy these guys are
I would be happy to see vegas take out the stars and lose in round 2, that's enough for me. Dallas fan base is just as toxic and pathetic as oilers fan base. It would be even better if someone else take out dirty coilers also. If we lose this series due to fatigue and injuries I'm fine with it. We won last year, retool get rest and come back again next season.

I think with the Stars being hot going into the playoffs and Vegas not, plus Stars being slightly deeper and healthier, I think Stars take it but it'll take 6-7.
I do think you're underestimating WPG. As much as it pains me to say, Bones has a good squad there. And Helle has been pretty damn good this year. Goalies are able to steal games in a series, especially against a good Avs team yet their play coming into the playoffs hasn't been great. 4-4-2 in their last 10. Plus Georgiev has really been subpar this year. I think it's without question WPG has the goalie advantage and that means something. Plus, WPG handled COL in every game against COL this year especially the most recent game less than what 2 weeks ago.
I won't be surprised if we face WPG in round 2.
