@@laz001 not all of them, I'm afraid, but there are enough Fragile-Era songs that weren't on the album (such as Metal, The Perfect Drug, etc) that I can fill in the blanks and make up for it
Surprised you didn't make us watch 360 seconds of nothingness/silence before "Physical" and "Suck". However, this is an awesome tribute to an amazing record.
Well shit, guess I'm doing one of these for The Fragile! (I say like I hadn't already started anyway 😉) I'll take a lot more time on that. This video was done in a week, just for fun and to see if you guys wanted more. I've already put in a week of work for The Fragile, hope to have it out by August. Currently sifting through 17 different recordings of 'The Way Out Is Through' to see which one is the best audio-wise, and which has the best performance
This actually took 3 different attempts. First attempt I was an idiot. I ripped the video for Wish directly from my DVDs but there was a tiny scratch so the audio was funky. My dumbass thought "no worries, I also have the live CD! I can sync that with the video!" Little did I know that the DVD audio was different from the CD. The end result sounded echo-y and disjointed and terrible. Second pass happened because i realized that the 2 audio sources I'd tried to sync for HMIAIH were off by milliseconds, and while the effect that created sounded really cool on my speakers, listening in headphones was awful. Small stuff, but they ended up being very time-consuming. But hey, what better way to spend quarantine?
That distortion on his mic in Suck was great. He should consider using it more often. Maybe a little less here and there cuz it hides the age in his voice well.
Ok - watching this, and you have done an EXCELLENT job! Thank you! Gotta love the NIN community, are any other fans so active in creating this sort of stuff?
I know that there are more, but these are prime examples right now that I draw from Of course, the NIN archive: ruclips.net/user/RITCNIN ThisOneIsOnUs: ruclips.net/user/ThisOneIsOnUs And Videotape. They only have one NIN concert thing up, unless you count the post about Fragility backing videos, but it's so amazing Trent himself put it in the NIN newsletter ruclips.net/channel/UCtc7np5w4xxGe1ERljWBumQ
Oof. Just now realizing that the drums in HMIAIH don't line up with the audio 😳🤣 that's what I get for using 4 sources and being distracted by pretty lights
@Matt Dunphy yeah, Wish was really weird. Everything else with the exception of I think Happiness, I'd ripped directly from CDs or source NIN archive files. But my AATCHB DVD had a slight scratch that made for random volume changes during Wish so I kept the video and pirated in the audio 😂 it works but is still a bit off
Must be a little strange to be a Superstar since your first record release. Trents been a household name like 30 yrs. crazy. Seems like yesterday he was on Rolling Stone Cover and the story was like whose this mad, destructive musical genius recording and living at The Manson Massacre Home”
Don't you doubt me. That was a PHM tour track originally, that always leads into Terrible Lie every single time it is played, so obviously.... ruclips.net/video/Dad3C4WGHPA/видео.html
I get what you're going for but I really find the notion of using audio that's synced up disparate video sources jarring. Trent in 2000 doesn't sound like Trent in 2008. The post chorus 1 synth riff in Gave Up played by Charlie Clouser plays when you have Alessandro on screen and they don't play or sound anything alike. You're using footage of Physical from 2009 but with audio from 2018 with completely different band members and setup. It's really just feels like a disservice to every musician's performances to mask them with completely different video sources.
I get what you're saying, but the thing is the best performances were often older and didn't have any footage (or the footage that existed was terrible quality, where you can barely make anything out; similarly, to take your Physical example, there are no professional sources for that song besides 2018, and the lineup for 2009 was almost identical to the CBI tour). My goal is sonic and aesthetic pleasure. So while I do think I should make a second pass at this, but the most important thing is for the drums and trent's lips to sync up. The point of this is to sound the best, and look as good as it can, and honestly 95% of fans aren't as hardcore as you. It's a sad truth, but most don't know one lineup from the others. And it's the majority that I want to please with this series.
As for the Gave Up part, that *was* Alessandro playing it.... and Clouser. Doubled up to give it a more eerie feel. But the bulk of that performance was the 2008 AVOTT one, with some bits from 2000 and 2017 mixed in to try and elevate the sound
I am using this to get back at my neighbor upstairs who is listening to his music too loud. Damn it, it's not working and I don't really want to have to turn it up any louder because I can barely stand listening to NIN now that I'm not a depressed 90's teenager!

If you guys like this when it airs let me know. I'm planning to do The Fragile next if this is successful
Is it possible? Are all the fragile tracks done live?

"Last" is such a good song!!!!
Best year. Best line up. My opinion. Band was like a well oiled machine. Just flawless

Just going to pre-thumbs-up this.
