    I couldn’t agree more - what is missing is chemistry & no amount of technique & artistry can replace that single vital aspect- Viktoria is arguably the sexiest Latin dancer on the floor today & he doesn’t acknowledge it! His inability to show this diminishes both of them-
    yes his dancing abilities are impressive even to my untrained eye but they leave me cold-
    She deserves better from him -

      william messana Well articulated. Sometimes the untrained eye can see what the trained eye cant, or chooses not to because it's to much of an inconvenient truth to accept. Your untrained opinion is pure, because it's not rooted in history of any kind of preconceived indoctrination or biases. Dean Martin, one of the greatest multi talented performers to ever live once famously said and I quote "spontaneity is the price you pay for over rehearsal" There is little that K&V are doing that hasn't had the ears rehearsed off it to within a millimetre of its life. Everything is so planned, deliberate, orchestrated and highly rehearsed that the magic within the couple is suffocated in the quest for technical perfection. It is very common in ILD today and disappointingly sad to see in my view.

      @@williammessana4244 Well hello nanci. My younger brother was a footballer. As kids his mates would to tease me about being a dancer. In later years as they grew up they were all nursing head and body injuries, broken noses etc and they said to me we should have taking up dancing, we didn't realise how much fun and what a great feeling it was holding a woman instead of a ball. There's many aspects to competitive latin dancing but for me the primary thing I want to see before all else is two people that move as one and that they dance together because they love each other (even if they dont) and not because they have some kind of business arrangement. Cheers and good luck with getting hubby on that floor. he dont know what he's missing.

      I find that there’s something missing with most Latin ballroom couples. She has beautiful moves but I wish they’d both go to Cuba and learn from professionals who were born there. Street Latin style brings your heart into it. I recommend you look up “Cuban Cha Cha Cha Demonstration” with the venerated master Domingo Pau. He taught Rumba Cubana (nothing like Ballroom Rumba) to my best friend Airagdin Pavon More (El Moro) who teaches and performs in Sydney Australia. Moro and others say that one must learn Rumba Cubana to really feel at one with Cuban dance. Another good video is “Cha-Cha-Cha on the street - Havana, Cuba”. The video “Leysis Smith & Moro - Sydney Cuban Salsa Congress 2014” shows the sensuality that’s the missing part of ballroom. Leysis is hypermobile and dances solo first then the music changes to a rumba and Moro brings the fire, fun and footwork which she responds to with smiles and energy. You can see Moro dancing Cha Cha Cha in the second half (at 1:30) of “Moro and Fernando - 2010 Sydney International Bachata Festival - Men’s Shines”. They created the choreo together and its beautiful. P.S. If you’re curious, the true musical rhythm of Ballroom Rumba is Bolero. Both Cuba and Mexico lay claim to having created it.

      @@r.fairlie7186 Yes, cha cha cha should be more fun. I'd like to see more hip action and playfulness in this dance, especially from Viktoria. They make it look just like sport, nothing else. I thinks Troels and Ina are the ones who got it closer to the real cuban thing.

    • @r.fairlie7186
      @r.fairlie7186 3 года назад

      @@Maria_Fomina I looked them up and can see what you mean. However I felt annoyed in their finals that the audience was so intent on screaming their approval. It drowned out the music and made it harder for this couple to follow it. The same thing happens on “The Voice” too. (I suspect that fans like these let their presumed right to freedom of speech override respect for the people competing as well as the judges.)

      @@r.fairlie7186 It's true, fans' shouting gets so often on the nerves even when watching youtube videos. In reality they must be even louder. This is one of the things that add to making dancing look more like sport than art. It's hard to show authentic feelings and to feel anything at all except high adrenaline when you hear all the time " come on, come on! " from the audience.

    They are dancing beautifully. So musical, crisp and technically precise. I just want to point out one thing though and this is a real issue for me. Pause at 1.34 and note the following few seconds. I think at this moment, and particularly as they are a very new partnership he could and should have made more a point of acknowledging his partner instead of just a simple rather cold looking hand gesture. Viktoria on the other hand does the same in return, but there's a huge difference. Her whole focus is toward him. Her body, her eyes remain on him until she gets his attention which is on the audience the whole time. This is how meaningful, genuine, sincere looking connection is done. He is a strikingly good dancer but very serious and can come across as a little cold.

    • @Maria_Fomina
      @Maria_Fomina 3 года назад +3

      I am afraid the problem is a bit deeper here than that. Kirill and "serious" used to be two different words when he danced with Polina. Yes, he didn't look much at her either, but he was most of the time very joyful, he danced feeling himself to be a star. I understand now that Polina gave him this opportunity to feel very free emotionally while dancing, so that nearly each of their competition performances looked like a little show. I hope this aspect will work out in this new partnership as well and they both will dance with more freedom showing us not only their technical skills, but also the artistic part of their personalities.

    • @MihaelaPavlova
      @MihaelaPavlova 3 года назад +5

      Joe, sharp comment. I didn’t even notice that body language at 1:34... I was already tired of Kiril and his well practiced without soul dancing. He just wants the win and that is there for him. Dancing is about exchanging energy.. he is exchanging nothing but good athleticism and motivation. Viktoria on the other side - can’t stop watching her movement. So feminine and sassy at the same time.

      @@MihaelaPavlova Hello, where have you been? Taking care of yourself during this hideous pandemic I hope. Yes I think he dances for the wrong reasons. He looks to me like someone who is operating under an enormous weight of expectation, most definitely from himself and perhaps from others also. Both are very talented and Its such a new partnership that deserves time, but at this early stage I see the same issues that existed with Polina. That needs to change, and soon because to many out there including me are seeing it and commenting on it. Nice to hear from you. take care.

    Kirill demonstrates that he is a top professional dancer.
    The music is not typical cha cha. Yet he breaks the dull noisy ongoing music with a genuine smile at 1 minute onwards, and is rewarded with a pleasant reaction from his partner. It looks like she does not like the music.
    I think, with perfect music for fun cha cha cha, they can do it three times better. It is not a stunning performance.

    • @joetesta8754
      @joetesta8754 3 года назад +4

      H.C What do you mean this is not typical cha cha music? Its an older style but a very good piece of cha cha music. A good natural versatile dancer can adapt their style and personality to reflect different music. You shouldn't need perfect music especially at this level. But what would you know having had little to no practical competitive experience. That's often what makes couples superior. Never blame the music for a dancers lack of versatility. As for Viktoria i think it has nothing to do with she doesn't like the music, but rather that she appears a little nervous and uncertain at the early stage and that's completely understandable considering the massive step up shes taken. I have alot of patience for Viktoria but not so much for Kirill because he's been at this very top level;level for a long time and should have all the skills well developed and in the bag. I'm yet to be convinced that is has.

      @@joetesta8754 I know what you mean. What is special about K & Vic is their musicality and sense of timing. We have seen in the past years that K needs good music to him and inspiring to him, to perform at the highest of his ability. Same with Vic. This is not so very unusual for dancers whose speciality is musicality. Dancers adapt to music they don't like , but perhaps never at that very top level of their ability. But you are of course completely right that good dancers are very clever adapting to music.
      I have a good point for the coaches: teach Kirill not to start before the lady is ready. It is good to let her start bouncing, before he starts. He should delay the start a few seconds, ladies like that waiting period, to get ready. Not just walk out and start. Then happen

    • @joetesta8754
      @joetesta8754 3 года назад +3

      @@helgechristophersen7665 Dancers today particularly from some eastern European countries dance the exact same way to every piece of music because they have been educated, trained and rehearsed so heavily on producing perfect timing, technique, footwork and mechanics, (all the stuff that you rave about) They have forgotten how to feel anything and are becoming more and more one dimensional. They dont feel it, they just do it. The last point you make is valid but this is kind of thing you are taught when you are in the development phase as an amateur. It shouldn't be there at this level and as a professional IMO. But with Kirill it is there and possibly a major reason for why he hasn't been marked better by many adjudicators. This is where I believe his weakness is and where he needs to improve if he is to become world champion.

      @@joetesta8754 It is an understatement that they don't win the world championship with this particular cha cha.
      He is serious, dancing on his own, the music is not inspiring. Period.
      But this couple is in the making of dynamic greatness. Suddenly in R2 samba he is the opposite, and she too, although she had an unusually large dress.
      I have two tests for him. One, I revive my proposal that the brilliant actor that he is, makes a Fred Astaire show. With Fred´s unique gentle handling of the lady. This will develop him. Two, that he manages to beautifully lead a cat, visiting the floor. Leading a cat, on the floor, on the table. wherever, develops what you need to lead a lady. It develops his personality. He must not be abrupt, inward, loud, dominating in the art of leading a cat, whatever he leads the personality of a cat to do.
      The art of making a cat faithful and happy. Making the cat perform.
      I am not the only one who has used cats in teaching dancers, and the fantastic Fred Astaire magic in treating a lady.
      The audience will go wild if he succeeds in a show imitating Fred Astaire, and she Rita Haynsworth or Ginger Rogers, including big hats and "authentic" dresses.Likewise he in "authentic" Fred Astaire suit and look, and moves. So that everybody understands he is Fred Astaire.
      I can't wait for this to happen. It will be a top show. And top development of Kirill. And put theatre excitement to the beautiful Victoria..
      It will bring them to the world championship
      In fact, Fred is a brilliant cha cha cha dancer, it is from him the popular cha cha "Sway" comes. A good idea is for Kirill and Victoria to imitate "Sway" with Fred Astaire and Rita Haynsworth. Remember, Kirill in ballroom suit.
