I liked Vika and Silvo much better. Don't get me wrong Kiril is amazing dancer and has a crazy technique skills but somehow the emotion and the fire between them is missing....
I find that there’s something missing with most Latin ballroom couples. She has beautiful moves but I wish they’d both go to Cuba and learn from professionals who were born there. Street Latin style brings your heart into it. I recommend you look up “Cuban Cha Cha Cha Demonstration” with the venerated master Domingo Pau. He taught Rumba Cubana (nothing like Ballroom Rumba) to my best friend Airagdin Pavon More (El Moro) who teaches and performs in Sydney Australia. Moro and others say that one must learn Rumba Cubana to really feel at one with Cuban dance. Another good video is “Cha-Cha-Cha on the street - Havana, Cuba”. The video “Leysis Smith & Moro - Sydney Cuban Salsa Congress 2014” shows the sensuality that’s the missing part of ballroom. Leysis is hypermobile and dances solo first then the music changes to a rumba and Moro brings the fire, fun and footwork which she responds to with smiles and energy. You can see Moro dancing Cha Cha Cha in the second half (at 1:30) of “Moro and Fernando - 2010 Sydney International Bachata Festival - Men’s Shines”. They created the choreo together and its beautiful. P.S. If you’re curious, the true musical rhythm of Ballroom Rumba is Bolero. Both Cuba and Mexico lay claim to having created it.
@@r.fairlie7186 Yes, cha cha cha should be more fun. I'd like to see more hip action and playfulness in this dance, especially from Viktoria. They make it look just like sport, nothing else. I thinks Troels and Ina are the ones who got it closer to the real cuban thing.
@@Maria_Fomina I looked them up and can see what you mean. However I felt annoyed in their finals that the audience was so intent on screaming their approval. It drowned out the music and made it harder for this couple to follow it. The same thing happens on “The Voice” too. @@r.fairlie7186 It's true, fans' shouting gets so often on the nerves even when watching youtube videos. In reality they must be even louder. Yeah i can definitely see the power struggle here. It's kinda upsetting to see how krill wants to steal all the spotlights and not giving viky enough time to bring out her emotions. Like "bro we already got it you're amazing, it shows even when you're not even trying. So why not pay more attention to her?"🤷🏻♀️
They are dancing beautifully. So musical, crisp and technically precise. I just want to point out one thing though and this is a real issue for me. Pause at 1.34 and note the following few seconds. I think at this moment, and particularly as they are a very new partnership he could and should have made more a point of acknowledging his partner instead of just a simple rather cold looking hand gesture. Viktoria on the other hand does the same in return, but there's a huge difference. Her whole focus is toward him. Her body, her eyes remain on him until she gets his attention which is on the audience the whole time. This is how meaningful, genuine, sincere looking connection is done. He is a strikingly good dancer but very serious and can come across as a little cold.
I am afraid the problem is a bit deeper here than that. Kirill and "serious" used to be two different words when he danced with Polina. Yes, he didn't look much at her either, but he was most of the time very joyful, he danced feeling himself to be a star. I understand now that Polina gave him this opportunity to feel very free emotionally while dancing, so that nearly each of their competition performances looked like a little show. I hope this aspect will work out in this new partnership as well and they both will dance with more freedom showing us not only their technical skills, but also the artistic part of their personalities.
Joe, sharp comment. I didn’t even notice that body language at 1:34... I was already tired of Kiril and his well practiced without soul dancing. He just wants the win and that is there for him. Dancing is about exchanging energy.. he is exchanging nothing but good athleticism and motivation. Viktoria on the other side - can’t stop watching her movement. So feminine and sassy at the same time.
