    In this video, we look at the issues with the Original XBOX one and it's power supply. (The brick) As these systems age, we find more and more issues with the power brick, and not internal of the Xbox. So, if you are having issues with random system shut downs, or a system that won't boot, I will show you want it takes to bring the power supply back to life.

    Thank you for this video, I'm so glad I came across this! Went ahead and popped open my power block and located a bulging capacitor. I then rummaged though an old box of computer parts and found the appropriate capacitor to use as a replacement. I put it all back together and the Xbox booted right up like its supposed to. Saved me from buying a cheap replacement power block that would have burned itself or my xbox out in 4 months.

    Well thank you for the video it got me thinking. My power supply was turning on not plugged into the xbox but shut off immediately when plugged into it. I watched to part of having the brick taken apart and was reading the comments. Someone mentioned they bought a new power brick and it wouldn't work. So you mentioned that sometimes there's an issue in the console. I smelled the console and it had a bit of a plastic burning smell. Thinking back to my PS3 days it wouldn't turn on without a blow dryer for a few minutes aimed into it. I figured I got nothing to lose cause I'm not the guy to replace capacitors or anything. I gave the console a solid couple whacks right in the corner where the power supply plugs in and voila the console turned on lmao. I know it's not fixed but at least I can get the game out and maybe have some time to get a new console. Will see though. Anyways not the fix you were suggesting but it's good enough for me! Cheers bud!

    Mine died about 2 years ago. I did end up getting an aftermarket, because the OEM were 3 times the price and, I wasn't sure that was the problem. It was and the aftermarket has lasted about 2 years now but today, it was taking a really long time to power down after I quit playing. After maybe 2 hours of on time. I did keep the original and may give this a try.
    Circuit boards are like jigsaw puzzles to me. Being a carpenter for 35 years, electronics are a bit tedious. Like threading a very fine needle, tedious. But it's worth a try.
    I've watched yours and one other video. He replaced 3 caps. All swollen. And with success. Just as u did. So I thank you. Though a decent aftermarket is only around 20 bucks. If its a sure fix for 10. Replacing caps. I guess it's worth it.
    Thanks again 👍👍

    Thanks for your video. My power brick died a couple of weeks back and everything I'd seen about checking it suggested the caps had gone and would show bulging tops. But when I opened the brick, the caps looked fine. My son's power brick fired up the xbox so we knew the power brick was faulty. So I bought an aftermarket power brick which came with a very noisy fan. Not happy. I've just watched your video and you've enlightened me by saying that the caps might be dead even though the tops aren't bulging. That's something I wasn't aware of. Thanks. I've still got my original power brick so I'll open it up again and replace the caps. Fingers crossed. Thanks again.

    mine stopped working last night. no light at all until i unplug all three ends. when i plug it back into the wall, the orange light comes on and stays on, when i plug it into the xbox, it flashes white then off. until i do all that again. i took it apart, all the resistors are not domed. i busted the fan by blowing out all the dust with i guess a bigger air compressor than i should have used, it spun freely, no issues there, lots of dust tho and then all the fan blade blew off like it exploded.
    so i tried it like that, open brick, plugged it back in, same thing. was hoping it was just all the dust. what else should i be looking for? if its got power then just off when plugged into the xbox.
    thanks

    Why does nobody in these repair videos check the actual voltage that comes out from the brick first?? Wouldn't that be a logical first step? As far as I can see, it should have one 5v and one 12v signal coming out from the brick. Mine only has a 5v and the 12v is dead. I guess it could be possible that it should be like that? Maybe the 12v gets turned on by a relay switch if the brick can communicate with the console? I don't know, as nobody actually tells the voltages in these videos. So PLEASE, tell me if both the 5v and 12v is supposed to be active immediately when I plug the supply to the wall? Thanks!

      5 V is always on.
      12 V only after power button is "pressed" on.
      How to check: Find a way to create contact between the inner pins of the plug, the light will change from orange to white as if it is powered on.
      The cooler works with 12 V DC, check the voltage of those pins with a multimeter.

    Hello there. I have a Xbox One console. That is clean inside. The front light on and off button. Would not turn on by touch. I have opened it up clean the fan and everything. It was working fine but now it's doing the same thing. Turning on and turning off. I will turn it back on by myself. As it hits my security code. It shuts right back down I can turn it back on using the controller but not the on and off switch on the dashboard. I don't know if it's the power cord doing this. Watching your video. I don't know if you are doing complete overhauls on Xbox One consoles in other words cleaned fixed and upgraded instead of a 500 gs to a 1000 GS. I don't know how much something like that would cost. But willing to ship out. Or should I just buy another one. Prefer to just upgrade and have it fixed running perfect. And you definitely look like you are the man for the job. Just curious on time frame also. Spent a lot of money on call of duty. Big gamer I think you get the idea LOL. Hit me up if you are interested. Mine does an even weirder stuff, it turns orange and when i plug the Xbone it goes white then rapidly yellow again. If i try to power the Xbone i heard the turn on sound of the Xbone, but then it just shuts down again. This repeats randomly until it actually powers on after 3-4 tries and the LED turns white, sometimes it takes like 10-15 minutes for the damn thing to actually turn on and i can play fine without issues for hours non stop. I can even turn it on and off again and powers on without issues until the next day when it starts doing the same BS.
    The 16v 2200uf on the left was kinda bloated on the top, so i replaced with with another one with the same specs. I also replaced the one on the Right 16v 1000uf (it wasen't bloated). But it's still doing the exact same things. So i'm kinda confused what the hell is going on with my PSU.

I’m confident it’s not overheating because I’ve already completely dissembled the Xbox cleaned everything cleared the heat sink and applied new thermal paste to try to solve the randomly powering off issue,it did not. I’ve did some test with the hard drive I’ve tried multiple hard drives I also tried completely removing the hard drive while the console was taken apart still I encountered the same issue it would just shut off. NEED MAJOR HELP!
    Have you seen a power brick not cycling the fan before? What could that be? Is it the battery itself and how could you fix that problem?
    I already used a third party power brick not reading it and realized that I can't connect online at all. I still have Xbox live it didn't expire or anything but find it. This is on my Xbox one original brand power brick. Not Xbox series and not some third party. I noticed that the side where the battery is warm when it's not even plugged in compared to the third party power brick. The light is completely normal and functioning the way it should be but noticed that the fan isn't spinning at all and I already put grease for the fan.

    • @PghGameFix
      @PghGameFix  2 года назад

      I'm not sure what battery you are talking about. The fan itself can be dead. As far as not connecting online..... if it's actually connecting to your WiFi... then it could be a banned system. If it's not connecting to your WiFi... then I would make sure the WiFi unit, and antenna are connected properly in the Xbox.

    • @jorgelozano4008
      @jorgelozano4008 2 года назад

      @@PghGameFix I am assuming it banned my online use? Even though I never got reported or anything of that sort. Secondly maybe you are right thinking about it maybe it could be since I used lube it probably got all over the interior of the system or inside of it causing to be damaged and maybe not function properly but it's odd because it was working solid with the lube for a good solid year or so. But when I mean battery or a motor.. it's not hot at all from where the fan compartment is. It's hot from the opposite side of the fan and there's some sort of look like battery that is plastered with some sort of white paste of glue and if I am right I touched it a bit gently and it burned my finger slightly so my guess is.. just like when stuff die out like maybe like a nerf gun on it's last life. It doesn't function the way it's supposed to... Like it's all slow and then starts to slowly give it and not work so you have to exchange out the battery..
      But really I am assuming that the third party power brick probably banned me from even connecting online. My wifi is good and even with connecting to my hotspot it still didn't allow it. So once I get my other power brick I'll see if it'll allow me to access to connect online. It told me that services are down.

      No. THere are a lot of other reasons that a xbox may not turn on. BUT... I've seen a lot of the early xbox one's having this issue.

    So i replaced the caps on a power brick am working on, they were definitely blown(bulging). At first no orange light before replacing, then got orange light after replacing. As soon as I plug into console though the power brick turns off. Any idea where and how I should be looking next? I Don't see any obvious damage and I've used these caps to repair a few bricks before. Have only recently got into console repairs, so still learning as much as I can.

      You may have an issue with the one of the power FETs. So it's going into protect mode as soon as it's loaded.

      @@markbarnard1970 They would be the fets on the main board of the xbox. Use your meter and look for shorts to ground across the filter caps on the power rail.

    How much do they charge to fix this, or how much would you charge ?

      Realistically... a replacement brick is cheaper than sending your brick to me. This is more for the people who can do their own repairs.

    Just got my P.S.U back from my repair guy. It works. Ha..the fan works. But it sounds like a sissie fan.. I can't here it. Is that normal. I can feel it take air in. But man it dose not sound like a beast. I wondering if fans could contribute to the over heating of the P.S.U...?..but whatever u were right.thx man.

      The OE fan wasn't very loud when they were new. So... I wouldn't worry too much on that. As long as you know it's moving air... should be ok. The aftermarket units are VERY loud.
