RE: the "buildup" for Nigel and Brian. They had done enough build over the months with Nigel's constant badgering and hypocritical snark against Brian while doing commentary. I think the mistake here was they were trying to build up Moxley vs. Danielson as well, and they didn't bring Nigel in as the "Steven Regal" manager / member of Mox's new crew when they did the heel turn weeks back, and thus this match feels like a lazy placeholder match for the Mox / Danielson match, whereas they could have had Nigel be the one with the bag over Bryan's head screaming, "YOU GOT TO HAVE *MY* CAREER! NOW I'M TAKING IT BACK!" or something to that effect, and really drive it home how much Nigel resents and hates Brian for the "lost opportunity" that he never got to have, and really create some heel heat for Nigel leading into the match and leave folks wondering just how far and to what extent this match was going to go and what would Nigel actually be like in ring, which would have possibly gotten the live crowd more enthused for the match going in and pushed both guys to a stronger match. I don't know how much that would have helped, but it would have helped some, I'm sure.

I can only assume Bryan has been told he has to retire imminently, and they needed to fast track this for it to happen.

I must commend Eric for sitting through a whole aew show. I try about once a month and usually last about a half hour. Strikes that look so phony and weak, staring at a guy for an eternity while he sets up to jump on you, out on the floor breaking furniture in so many matches, and zero continuity or sensible story doesn't equal "where the best wrestle ". Company will never grow like that. Money mark doesn't care.
Wayyy too many false finishes for both companies. I think that should be saved for a big match on a big show. Punk and Drew 3 that's the match that could have a couple of false finishes. How cool would it be to see that for the first time this year. Instead they should do the opposite and the first finisher wins it. That match should be different.

Asspreay and Kyle vs Young Bucks was just another tag team circus match, no tags, you do your move then i'll do mine, making Canadian Destroyers look like a regular move in wrestling, making it mean nothing, worthless like every move in AEW, it's getting worse and worse. And the Crowd was dead as always. Moxley vs Darby, i'm not even gonna talk about that match because that was just disgusting to watch, Moxley didnt sell shit, and Darby was trying to kill himself as always.

Wrestling has always been about story and good to great wrestling matches. If you lack the story it definitely makes the matches kinda boring no matter how good the wrestling is in my opinion. Need better story to push with the great matches.

The following week, Mox challenges Darby for his title opportunity. Grand Slam: Mox beats Darby the challenge Danielson. WHY DID MOX, CLAUDIO AND PAC TURN ON DANIELSON!? IS THERE A REASON!? Based on events previously mentioned events, NO! Wrestling story lines are supposed to leave the fans asking "where is this going". Not "who, what, when where, why and how did this happen? Wrestling has always been about story and good to great wrestling matches. If you lack the story it definitely makes the matches kinda boring no matter how good the wrestling is in my opinion. Need better story to push with the great matches.

Eric, you're right. I've heard of the name Nigel,but i have never seen any of his matches, and i don't have time to search his history. And i damn sure NOT going to watch indy garbage promotion. I understand why the wrestler does their 1,000 chops and punches because the wrestlers are limited these days. Fat man needs to know most people will not care to watch if they're no story behind the matches.

Every time I watch aew am so bored because it's nothing but spot monkey's and zero story, can only sit through so many flips over the top rope and high spots with no selling from anyone. Can't believe how Conrad tries to defend this garbage, no wonder is no one in the arena or watching on TV. Eric tells it like it is and Conrad is just a mark who seems more interested pushing all the sponsors and adds than actually listening to what Eric is saying, with all Eric's experience running a successful company Tony really should start listening or he will just be throwing away more and more of his dad's money on this vanity project.

I watched Grand Slam with the Squared Circle Maniacs Podcast on You tube (check out their channel). There was no story and no advancement of story. The story that I still have questions about it.

Wrestling story lines are supposed to leave the fans asking "where is this going". Not "who, what, when where, why and how did this happen? There are indicators. For example, WWE Smachdown is hinted at a Kevin Owens heel turn on Cody. I know it's coming, but fans will be shocked and/or upset when and if it happens. Why isn't AEW using the same formula!? Oh yeah, because it's where best wrestle, nothing more.
