Audio Visions will always be my favorite of the "original run" as it represents them at their most developed and mature in the creating and performing aspect. "Hold On" was the track that really brought me in as a (serious) fan years after it came out in the late 80's. They had a bit of a comeback (with Steve at his vocal PRIME) with "Power" and "In The Spirit Of Things", but as much as I do like them, it was not quite the same again.
Thank you for posting this, sir. This must be how it feels when an explorer finds a lost relic and shares it with the public for the first time. I hope there are more of these out there as the original six of Kansas were a true gift to the world. Robbie was a great singer, but there is just something magical when Steve, in his prime, sang Kerry's songs. Its a shame that creative differences ended this remarkable union so prematurely...who knows what they may have all done together had they remained. I think the demos of Vinyl Confessions with Steve are a taste of what might have been.
Thanks so much for sharing this! Always a pleasure hearing something that's new to me. Would be amazing if any new live video footage of the original lineup would surface! It's a shame that there is so little.
Had I not already known that this song was cut during the Audio Visions sessions, I'm not sure I would be able to tell the timeframe of the recording - but definitely does sound like Monolith-Audio Visions time period or maybe even later. Also, to me, the way Steve sings this song is very similar to his vocal work on Steve Hackett's solo album Please Don't Touch (songs Narnia and Racing in A).
Jeez bro! You have crazy amazing stuff!! I thought I heard all of thier recordings. I've been collecting everything Walsh related for years. Thanks for sharing!
This song may have made it on the original album but was possibly omitted due to the time constraints of vinyl. Or...it just wasn't good enough. Great find, thanks for posting.
@@edbernardmusic3599 I disagree. That's Walsh actually all the way through the song, with Robbie coming in for some harmonies. Not the way the vocals are described in the video description. Mix isn't the clearest as is obvious.

But it was also the most commercial...Song For America, Masque and Leftoverture are their best of the original band imo. That's real Kansas.

Oh my heavens @markhollin this is tremendous! Like hearing brand new material from Kerry and the original 6 in 2023 - THANK YOU!!
You're welcome, Bill. : )

Thanks Mark, this is really cool. It has a Masque-like feel and sound. It's very good.
you're welcome, Tim. : )
I think the description on this video is incorrect. Robby is singing background harmonies on this. Steve is singing lead throughout the tune.

Little pre-glimpse
Of home
sound
Some parts remind me of Relentless.
I thought it was that song too....

Love this. Some Billy Joel influence?
Robby Steinhardt sounds a lot different than his other Kansas vocals.
Doesn't sound like Robby or Steve at all until 2:07 which is clearly Steve. I think the other stuff is someone else.

🔥🔥🔥
Great lost treasure. Where did you find this?
From various tapes I have from my friendship with Kerry Livgren over the years.
Steve Walsh penned? Sounds like it from his writing style at the time. Thanks much for sharing!
Kerry wrote it.
Yeah, no way Steve work this. These types of lyrics are the reason why he left the band. Crappy song but thanks for sharing. Your finds are amazing.!
@Belexes - It’s definitely😅 a Kerry composition. It sounds more like his post-Kansas band, A.D., than it does Kansas.
