Great question. I just uploaded a video on how they have held up after 4 months. As long as you prep and seal properly, and allow adequate curing time, the paint will not come off. We do recommend be more careful with this type of refinishing as it is not as tough as an epoxy resin sealer of course. Just like any surface that is sealed with a polyurethane, if you run something sharp across it, it will scratch or nick.
I'm not brave enough to try this but I would LOVE to brighten my kitchen countertops. I have a small galleyway kitchen with no natural light. The previous homeowner installed black granite countertops. I can't even see well enough to clean properly. I wish i could afford to rip it out and replace it. I would rather have cheap beige vinyl countertops than black granite! Seriously, who puts black countertops in a dark kitchen?!!!
I never write negative comments, but this time I made an exception. Firstly this primer, whatever and however you do it is peeling off. And thats not only my personal opinion, a lot of people tried and they just wasted money as this is expensive (in UK) and useless. Is almost impossible to paint or prime over granite or glazed tiles - surface is to slippery and paint or primer do not adhere to this kind of surfaces. You need to show us after some time and usage, that this primer is still OK on granite. Anyway, I do appologise but this video is like promoting or advertising product. And that is not the point to encourage people to spend money for that
Thank you so much for watching our series on painting your granite countertops. I'm happy to show you pictures more than a year after this video was made. We do not promote any products that we do not use ourselves and fully believe in. We find slick stick to be a very good bonding primer. Maybe you did not prep your piece properly. Even though you are using a bonding primer, there is asignificant amount of prep involved in ordering for the best outcomes. We certainly appreciate you taking the time to make a very rare negative comment.
I have also painted several marble pieces using slick stick as a primer and they have held up just fine. There are always going to be those rare exceptions where a surface doesn't take well to a product. This video was not made to promote products. It was made to show people and alternative to changing the look of their countertops if they do not wanna spend the crazy amount of money to replace the granite. As Dixie Belle paint retailers, it would only be natural for me to teach, explain, and promote the products I use and sell.
Thank you for watching our series on painting our granite countertops. We would have to disagree that we did not ruin them, in fact, we are still enjoying them.
The granite was so beautiful
Hi. I am doing a bathroom granite countertop. Do you recommend the 16oz?
Hi! Yes, I think a 16 ounce will be plenty for a bathroom countertop.
For how long the paint will stay?? looks like it may peel off overtime.

You can get the Silk paint from Dixie Belle Paint company directly or through a retailer that might be local to you. dixiebellepaint.com/
Did you sand it?
No, because we are priming with a bonding primer there is no need to sand. Yay!

Be brave! We did it because we couldn't afford new countertops too.
