When so many people claimed that hands are so hard to draw, I always thought "Yeah I agree with you. But are you forgetting about feet especially with shoes?"

@@akizaizayoi4763I just draw shoes or socks on my characters and shade them heavily so they don't look that weird. Since I shade them, they don't actually stand out that much.

That was actually quite helpful. In actually I am I normally draw more furry characters but it still helped me allot drawing feet (Even the one nice feet I drew after seeing this was totally blocked in the picture but hey, it looked much better than before!).
I think the first technique you are showing would even work very well with realistic animal feet. I mean not hoofs or anything but simple stuff from fox to raccoon. You have to adjust some things because real foxes or even dogs need to have the big bubble more up. Also the big bubble would be much smaller compared to the other parts. I mean for anthropomorphic you don't need to change much but for dogs and cats a bit, but just adjust it and it works very well, at least I am sure of it.
Thank you for making this videos. Always helpful, and before anyone tells me yes I am considering buying your book easy anatomy. I mean I draw more antropormophic, and maybe I could also learn to draw some humans.

It's an exercise-based approach to learning on how to draw since it will mostly focus on training your muscle memory. Try it. It helped me make my drawings smoother and more relaxed.
I always tend to have trouble drawing feet. I'm pretty okay at getting the general shape, and I'm decent at drawing feet with shoes on, but bare feet are a little trickier. Thank you for this!

Hey Jazza i just have a question. i see you using flash and photoshop at times and i draw manga/anime quite a bit and i just wanted your recommendation on which one may be better for that kind of thing...? (i have about all the adobe products)

I almost always use Photoshop for drawing, it's more natural, but flash can provide a great clean look and the vector format can be very practice at times
I think I like the segment version better for te feet. I draw most things like that and the feet I draw like that tend to look better too lol

I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but I downloaded the bundle of your anatomy book and reference pack and the reference pack either never fully downloads or it downloads and when I go to unzip it it tell me that it can be done because the files are missing or damaged... I don't really know if this is a problem that everyone is having or just me but I would really like to use the reference pack..

Does anyone want to recommend a 'budget' graphics tablet with a display? I'm currently using a bamboo capture I bought many years ago, when it came out, and its starting to get pretty sketchy( pun not intended). The port is very sensitive and the nibs dissipated into thin air (the one in the pen is pretty worn in). I'm hoping to upgrade to a graphics tablet with a display to help speed up my work, but I'm pretty hesitant to spend 1000$ on the cintiq 13hd... Help?

Try Yinova pen displays. They have wide array of Tablet displays ranging from $500 to $1000.
but are they of a good quality?
You could always get a repaired/reconstructed one from the wacom website, they're significantly reduced and will work just as well
I recently picked up a refurbished cintiq 13, and the price was also recently dropped. Its amazing
Doesn't work for me; both methods seem to lack definitive proportion parameters, which means I will always require a reference to trace over for these shapes. Until I can shake this my foot drawings will look like stretched-out socks and the toes like transparent bubbles as they have for years. Feet are harder than hands! D:
I have that same problem. my drawings always have shoes on, and even then they still look distorted
Length of the foot is basically one head length.
Just look at your foot/shoe for reference, this video is not about proportion but about understanding the 3-dimensionality of the foot.
He has other videos covering proportios anyways.
How can you take a flat foot as example? :S
a foot is a foot if anything this foot has more detail then my own foot X'D so its simple to ignore things that are softer and the arch is still there on this foot just not as pronounced
also theres always google and your own foot if the arch is giving you trouble but personally i dont see much difference

Sydney K Cole To me, it doesn't really matter as long as it will help you with anatomy. Hyper realism or not, everything can be broken down into simple shapes, and that's what he showed us to do.
