True, but I feel like it's not that big of a deal at the same. We k-drama lovers made the "dubbing or no dubbing" a really big affair for nothing in my opinion, because at the end of the day it's really just about people's preferences and/or what they're comfortable with. But all I saw was kdrama fans making fun of the people who prefered dubbed saying things like "bruh you can't read?". Crazy thing is they criticizing right now but they're probably the same ones watching La Casa de Papel dubbed😐. I don't understand very much tbh, especially since the people that love watching spanish movies (sorry idk if there's a term for it) never thought it was a big deal when people were watching this show dubbed. And k-movies fans never were complaining when Train to Busan or Parasite became known worlwide and people were listening to them in their own language. Sorry for the rent, I just had to get this out.

I dont think so, actually. Notice that Gi gets shoved to the ground during the running part, and literally the next thing they cut to is the doll searching around for movement. I think its calculating intentional movement versus being shoved, otherwise the main character would die in game 1.
It feels so weird when people outside k drama community don't recognize Gong Yoo. He's so popular in Asia.

FYI: 1 US Dollar is equal to approximately 1000 Korean Won. So 1 million won is 1 thousand dollars and 1 billion won is 1 million dollars.

Korean Won just adds 3 more zeros at the end - that's the easiest way to calculate, I think - at least for the larger numbers. So 1,000,000 won is 100,000 dollars; 1,000,000,000 won is 1,000,000 dollars.

It’s crazy how Sheera and Roshi were able to predict things like the pickpocket being there and the VIPs betting on people
It actually isn’t as crazy as you think. Once you watch enough shows and movies, it becomes easier and easier to predict story lines, plots, twists. It shows that a lot of shows can be very similar and that’s why when a show that completely throws people of guard and does better then your expectations are hailed as masterpieces.
The VIPs betting on people crossing a bridge is a straight up ripoff of Kaiji

Simplistic games unlike Alice in wonderland but the acting, classy choreography and cinematography plus the eerie atmosphere makes this the one of the best shows I have ever watched.
Yes the games are very simple and straightforward compared to Alice in borderland and the plot twist and storyline is much simpler too. But it is still really enjoyable and I think squid game is getting a lot of people into East Asian content ( which mean Netflix could do more shows like this in the future) and hopefully a “Alice in Borderland reaction” is soon to come after they finish this
I think what people dont get is that fundamental difference isnt the games.
its the premise.
alice in borderland, hunger games and battle royal are about the death games.
squid game is about the people in death games.
its a social commentary on late stage capitalism and how it controls us.
the system works against people dealt a weaker hand.
all the players are volunteering. unlike other death games were its abduction and forceful. this is such a deep message to capitalism and how we live and die by money. controlled to the end.

the character arc and plot point went over your head.
the protagonist was happily married and had a well paid job at a car company.
one accident and he lost his job among with everyone in his company. no way to find a company job without a degree he opened multiple businesses that failed.
down on his luck he wanted his old life back and seeing it all slip away he got into gambling. you see there is more than meets the eye. people just dont get into gambling addictions for no reason. but of course he is responsible for his situation. the critic on late stage capitalism here is that the rich can prey on the weak. the organization is giving them a free choice by joining the games while coercing, manipulating and persuading them knowing their desperate situation.
its like waving a $100 to two homeless guys offering them a reward by making them fight.
theres an abundance of themes of capitalism and classicism in this show if you take a closer look.

This reminds me a lot of kaiji: Ultimate Survivor. The premise is pretty much the same, but its very good, definitely recommend if you like psychological battles

Keep in mind this is 4 Million in Korean money so probably closer to just a few thousand dollars, which is why the amounts owed to the Loan shark and Bank sound so Crazy high.
I usually just divide whatever won amount it is by 1000 to get the approximate dollar amount.
After that episode, I binge watched the whole season, it gets CRAZY
The old man is my favorite character in the show NO CAP. Homie is so wholesome and made the whole show a blast for me and my mom to watch

As a general "rule" move the decimal 3 places to the left for the money amounts to see about how much it would be in USD. It's not 100% accurate because exchange rates change. So 1,000,000 won -> $1,000 so since the dollar currently has more value in the exchange something that is 1,000,000 won would be less than $1,000.

I just started watching this as soon as i saw you react to it on Patreon, I don't watch Korean Drama Series often but i know they always have good Production Quality from a few that i've seen.
fun fact: 100,000 won is roughly equivalent to 100 US dollars. The smallest paper bill in Korean currency is 1,000 won (everything below that is coins), much like the US, because ₩1000 is basically equivalent to one US dollar. I know that this video is a week old but hopefully you'll see how much pain he was willing to put up with for relatively meager payout
