Nice metaphor there with "head of silicon" far more poetic than "head in the sand".
I don't mind the digressions in these games. I like seeing how dynamic these games can be. On a side note, prepping for Ivanchuk as black...all I can think of is just be as rested as possible because any opening is possible.

The seasoned pawngrabber knows that you never ever move your black pawn away from f4. White has to exchange all the pieces on f4 just to get it back, or face the awkward task to play around it.

Oh, one idea I had during all of your explorations of interesting alternative moves that could have been played is to do the “page turning” effect as you transition back to the original game. Maybe I’m a bit slow but that definitely helps me. I hope I explained properly.

God idea to show games from a opening. Good to see how top players handle it. How about the Ruy Lopez Morphy Defense with games by Cpapblance, Fischer, Kasparov and Magnus. That should show the development of good ideas from the Best Ever Players.
Bishop's gambit is the proper way to play the King's gambit IMO. It's a minefield that black has to walk through especially if they play 3..Qh4+
Brilliant, as usual. May I add that Chucky beat Peter Leko with a King´s Gambit in Legend of Chess last year. No Chess player fascinates me more than the great eccentric Ivanchuk. He can lose to an IM one day, and next day outplay the best. He spends lots of time on checkers too.. I hope Daniel will show us my all time favourite game, Ivanchuk vs Kasparov, Linares 1991. It´s magic!

Please, someone, forgive ny ignorance: After c6, what happens if White pushes the pawn to e5? I know there must be an efficient refutation, but I just can't see it.
5 e5 would be met by 5...d5 and Black stands better.
so ivanchuk didnt have his formation in soviet/russian school of chess?
He did of course, and we sometimes see him play with brilliant endgame technique that shows he has a classical chess education. But overall, Ivanchuk is one of a kind.

@@zuhriddinergashev7075 But that starts to get very messy. The king isn't necessarily badly placed on f1 and the knight comes out to f3 with tempo. Generally this is what White wants from the variation - a chaotic non-standard position!
