@@boxingcirclesaroundtheworl1469 actually a prime Roy Jones is way better, not even a question. But Roy lost his speed and that allowed Hopkins to stay with him. Hopkins grabbing style and not relying on speed kept him in the game.
Ellie I been watching your videos for years and loved most of em. I LOVED all the Mayweather Gym coverage you had back when Floyd was active. I LOVE the work you do with the whole Robert Garcia camp. This conversation goes way differently in the 90's, you could feel the tension and hunger between them back in those days. They sit here today with Roy's wife and Bernards son just reminiscing. Beautiful!
Never in a million years did I think Roy and Bhop would be that close to each other without swinging. Them dudes had a natural and AUTHENTIC dislike for one another all throughout their careers but they obviously have always respected each other a great deal which is how a friendship has developed. They had 2 great fights too! Congratulations to both these legendary fighters on their hall of fame inductions.
Great interview Ellie. I remember seeing Roy Jones and Bernard Hopkins 1 in real time in 93. On the bus you also had former welterweight champion of the world Marlon Starling.... I did not know these two communicated with one another. Great witnessing the comradeship! I definitely would support any network or platform they are on, especially if you add Andre Ward. Also, I love them shutting down the interviewer when he tried to "Don King" the situation b/w the two...
For some strange reason, old rivals end up becoming friends I.e Benn and eubanks, tyson and holyfield. Makes me wonder if we see the current generation or just retired generation to same thing like May and pac, fury and Joshua
I would've loved to see B-Hop vs James Toney.💯 They're both incredible ring generals and their I.Q's are off the charts. The fact that Roy Jones beat both of them tells you how special he was.💯✌
