  • Lac Lacroix Indian ponies are a rare Canadian breed dating back to the 19th century. By the 1970's, the breed was virtually extinct, with only 4 ponies left living near a small village in Northern Ontario. Through the rescue and rehabilitation efforts of a dedicated group of individuals, the ponies are making a comeback. At Abbey Gardens, we have two Lac Lacroix Indian ponies. We're helping to raise awareness about this important breed. Stop by and visit our boys!

They are an important part of Anishinaabe heritage. And they are meant to be semi-feral. How colonial can you be!
