Height + 2.5 instead of 3 is so much safer. + 3 is just faaaar too long. I'm 6'4" tall and bought the longest rope, then changed it to a 9'0" rope and that fit me so much better. I really had to have my arms out like crazy to use the 9'3" cable that I originally ordered with my EVO G2. I have another rope that's 8'4" and another at 8'6". All of these lengths work great for double unders, I just have to keep my hands closer to my hips or wider apart to get rid of slack in the rope. Ideally I like 8'8, 8'10 and 9'0". The longer rope the more forgiving it is and more comfortable for tricks. Beyond 9 feet and it's form breaking to me. Elbows back, hands around hip bone, wider/closer depending on rope length. 8'8/8'10/9'0" perfect lengths. If I use the 8'3" I have to keep my hands a little lower and very close to my hips. With the 8'6" I can keep them a little higher, but close again and it's still easier to trip up on than 8'8+. 9'0" is so comfortable, but have to flair out my hands al ittle bit to get effencient rope spin/control. Anyway, don't see how many people can be happy with the +3 measurement. 2.5 much be more safe for anyone with the standard technique that RX teaches down pat.
Great Question - Thanks for bringing this up. We have a sizing guide on our website www.rxsmartgear.com/how-to-size-your-rope. This is a very general guide for individuals and does not take into consideration your jumping experience - so if you go from the guide you would go with an 8'8" rope. We have found that as you get better at jumping rope the length of your rope gets shorter as you progress. Less rope = a shorter distance that the rope needs to travel. A simple way to solve this challenge is to use our Rapid Fit adjustable rope www.rxsmartgear.com/rx-jump-ropes/rapidfit/rapid-fit-jump-rope/ and then when you are crushing your workouts upgrade to a custom rope using the length from the rapid fit as your evidence for your ideal length. This is the type of information that we cover in our free training www.rxsmartgear.com/rx-method-training-optin Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Im currently doing 20-30 unbroken. Working towards consistency and higher reps…would you still suggest the elite or would the ultra help get more reps? I currently use the Rogue SR-1S and really like it but I’m not sure how it compares in weight bc the website just says it’s 2.3 mm.
Hi Brittney! Great job on stringing together 20-30. I would give our Ultra 1.8 cable weight a try! That is most comparable to the other brand cable weight as well. If you have any other questions feel free to email us at info@rxsmartgear.com :)
