Went for the $45 Amazon option and the pump is well built, easy to assemble and doesn't leak. Being 79 years old, this process is a little hard on my body and I had to give up with my tank on my Gamo Arrow only half filled. However, I found an electric dual voltage pump that pumps up to 4500 PSI on Amazon that was under $200, including taxes and shipping (Free). So I'll save my manual pump for a backup or when I want to see if I can use it to give myself a hernia....
Mine arrived today.....blown away with the quality and performance. I bought another after first use. I have three BSA Ultras, a compressor, 7 litre bottle and now two pumps. My two eldest grandsons borrow a rifle each when they visit. It now means they can take a pump each and go their own way. They are light and with the folding feet, compact to slip into a back pack. Look after them and I see a lifetime of service. Serving and repair however doesn't daunt me as a I was a Siebe Gorman BA and compressor technician and instructor before I retired. I do recommend a decent oil/water trap. You can buy and inline QR one for less than £20 anywhere.
Looks like some humid weather too. Carolinas? Looks like Tennessee where I used to live but hotter. If you want the hottest, most humid environment ever, go to Bahrain. Holy shit. It's like trying to breathe under water when you first arrive
Appreciate. I’m going to get it as a backup- for that price, why not? I “ think” I stumbled into a pumping trick. Instead of doing a full travel pump motion every time, I will do maybe 3 quick, partial pumps from between about 3-8 inches( can feel pressure build up some), followed by a full travel pump. It seems to decrease the amount of full travel pumps by enough to make it worth it “ to me”. 🤷♂️😁 Cheers

Great video and thanks for your efforts. I am 75 yrs old and for something to do, I just bought a Umarex C02 to plink with. I love to squirrel hunt so I have been entertaining a mid-range break barrel. While researching guns I became aware of PCP's. I have never heard of them. That being said, I really like the idea of the PCP with a mag-type gun. My concern was the inconvenience o filling the gun. I certainly prefer not to invest in a compressor but was calculating a small tank to take to the local dive shop. I have seen the hand pumps and figured they would likely kill me. Watching you actually use one, I think I can handle it. So, your video has convinced me to go ahead and pull the trigger on an entry-level PCP I can squirrel hunt with. Thank You. I subbed BTW.
Thanks! Have a look at some of my compressor reviews, they are cheap and 100% way better than hand pumping! Shopping through the links I put in my comments/descriptions on all my videos is a great way to help out my non-monetized RUclips channel, too! Cheers!
Yea. I paid totally €46 for my chinese handpump that I ordered from aliexpress for the use to fill my Sig Sauer Virtus 13ci PCP. Has worked well for me. Spare o-rings etc even came along. I did though put the pump onto an electrical pumping machine that I built. But itbhas served me well. I do clean and lube the lower external tube of the pump quite regularly - and sometimes I strip it apart to clean the check valve at the bottom, but I considerbit as plain maintenance to keep the pump going for a long time.. But overall I do personally think that a cheap handpump works basically as well as most more expensive handpumps (which are the same in build-class). I once did find online a Diana handpump to be identical to my pump - but the price was €199(national postages still excluded) instead of €46 (free intl shipping included)..

Oh! So it's normal for the pump to stay up after stroking. I mean, the black part you lift with the handle (yes I'm new haha!), once you're done pumping, remains a couple inches, perhaps a wee bit over an inch and half above the base, exposing the silver tube it rides around. Was the detail I was looking for, nobody mentioned it in any of the vids I watched, and was worried about my pump being defective. Just assembled it, now it's time to find where some tiny leak is, and voilá! Then wait for a nice day... haha! Anyway, thanks a lot for the vid mate, have a great one!
I've been using a vevor pump to get my origin up to 3625psi for 7 months now and it's been great so far. I have an oring kit to rebuild it too if need arises.
@pricelessppp takes 100 strokes to fill the origin from empty to full with a hand pump. Less than 4 minutes. I usually refill when it gets down to 1900psi which takes about 60 strokes.
@@NorthFloridaAirGunner is anything special needed for the pump set up? I bought one but the instructions are horrible. I think it says something about silicone oil?
I think for his application it is a no brainer purchase. I would like to see a test up to 3-4k psi before being totally convinced as a outright replacement for the other brands. I also question the longevity at the higher pressure. Thanks for the video!
I'm glad the $45 option was competitive. More cheap means more new shooters to the sport. Always a good thing. Glad you made the content, but I think you did a disservice by showcasing your pumping style. In my own experience and based on the advice of long time shooters that I trust, if you pump more slowly and deliberately, with a brief pause at the top and bottom of each pump stroke, you will get a more complete transfer of air between 3 chambers within the pump and, ultimately, into the gun, resulting in far fewer pumps required. Less heat will be generated in the process and fewer rebuilds will be required. I'm guessing that this will be an even bigger issue with the cheaper pump. One other suggestion would be to hold your arms stiffer and squat and stand as you pump, rather than press down with your arms alone. As they pump to higher pressures, older and less fit shooters will find that letting their belly fat/weight do the work, by squatting, will made the pumping less taxing and my be the only way to get a complete fill on their gun.

That is one reason why the Airforce airguns and the Benjamin marauder are on my favorite list. On the Airforce the tank and gauge are the rear end of the rifles and on the Benjamin marauder the gauge is on the bottom between the trigger and foregrip. This keeps you alot safer than the having the gauge on the business end. For the people with the gauge on the dangerous end always remove the magazine and fire a shot into the dirt to make sure 100% that the barrel is clear. Airguns are potentially deadly especially in the event of an accidental discharge like a hard knock or drop. Be careful people.
Surprised it's not outright banned up there like everything else! Haha jk jk but also sad face.... 😞 Can't you still use Amazon with just a currency exchange on the payment? Or maybe they have like an Amazon.CA?
cant help with price, but i used a handpump for many years. i then moved close to a scuba shop and got a tank and membership that gave me 2 fills a day. anyhow....pumping aint that bad...if your healthy......but theres so many small compressors in all kinds of price ranges. im now using a one of those 250$ china compressor + a couple of water oil separators
I just got this pump. I have to put together my hi-paq for my 2240. I have a few mods to make to make sure the valve doesn't blow in my face. Hopefully this pump works well.
Nice video! I have just got my Artemis P900 wich is the same gun as the Stormrider. And I got a handpump to keep thing simple 😁 Norway is cold so the themps would not be a problem working a handpump 😅
Man it was tiring just watching you fill those tanks. I have the Hatsan hand pump, but avoid using it whenever possible. It's ok for small tanks, but for a 510cc FX bottle at 4500psi, no thanks. Thanks for sharing 👍
Ther is no justification for this high price levels for pcp hand pumps, they are only tubes, rods, o-rings and cheap Gauges nothing much more and the production cost broberly 10£ or so and the rest costs for the overpriced company name.
Did the Airforce pump do better cause it had help from a shorter hose smaller diameter hose ? hard to tell in the video. I keep a very short micro bore hose and a Edgun Ezfill on my tank to minimize air loss. Next video how many pumps from a hand pump to fill a 100 cf scuba tank... keep the videos coming!
You know, I was thinking about the hose volume, too. I think the Orcair came in first, with lets say 27 pumps. Being new probably helps. Then came the Airforce with 30 pumps, then the FX with 35 but the FX's bleeder was not fully in so it leaked a bit while pumping. So maybe they are all right around 30 pumps. All 3 are 3 stage pumps, not 4 stage. I one time pumped up a 68ci paintball tank to 3000psi from 0 just to see if I could. NEVER AGAIN
@@airshootist awesome thanks bro, I’ve been wanting to get into PCP for years as I’ve always been into firearms but I thought the pcp world was out of my budget since all the guns I liked were thousands of dollars, but I then came across the Umarex origin which then lead me to the jts airacuda and now I’m just waiting on UPS to delivery it! Thanks again for helping me start out in the “real” airgun world. Lol the amount of money I’ve spent in the last 20 years on co2 bb/pellet guns is ridiculous 😂😂 gonna be making some videos soon to come on my experiences as a new pcp shooter.
I have been doing some research as I want to get into PCP from SSP and I read that you are supposed to wait a a second at the top and bottom of the pump stroke. Have you tried that to see if you can get away with less strokes?
Waiting is not necessary but you definitely want to make sure you go all the way up and all the way down for the most efficient stroke. And don't pump it like crazy in the summer without giving it a break, these can get a bit hot and perhaps melt a seal if you really beat on them. They are best suited for guns under 150cc, even though I got away with using them to pump a 490cc Airforce tank for over 15 years 🤣 I have rebuilt the FX and the Airforce pump more times than I can remember from all the use and they still are going strong
Can you not swap the gauge and the outlet hose around on the FX pump to allow you to see the pressure while pumping and give you better access to the bleed knob?
You can. If I recall correctly I partially stripped the threads like 15 years ago and swapped them because I think the gauge had longer threads so I could teflon tape it better and get it to seal. It's ancient history now, but good eye, it's only like that because of my own misdoings! Haha
Nice video, I'm going to look into the Orcair pump, just bought my first PCP rifle, where do you get a rebuild kit for the Orcair when needed? I see that it does come with one but once that is gone where do you get another one at?
You can probably just size the orings and pick them up at a local hardware store after that. Or simply buy a new hand pump since they are so cheap. A better idea is to grab a compressor since they are also very cheap nowadays and use the hand pump as a backup. I have multiple compressor reviews on the channel. My favorites right now are the Orcair Thunder and the ToAuto A3. I have links to both in the comments.
@@airshootist thanks for the reply, I did order the hand pump for now and I think today I have seen every video on compressors you have posted and added them to my cart on Amazon so I can look farther into them in the next few days. 30~40 pumps for such little movement on the meter? How many pumps to completely fill the gun from empty? 1000? I was looking into a pcp gun that comes with a pump but this puts me off a little lol
lol no that's a small like 80cc tube. Less than 100 pumps probably. Now, the Airforce Talon SS I used to exclusively hand pump was probably 1000 or more strokes and it sucked but was a good workout. If you're worried about using a hand pump then just get a compressor, this one has been the absolute workhorse of the 7 or so I own: amzn.to/3RnD6Uq
I have been using my Chinese air pump for almost 8years now Pump to 220bar with no problems at all And I have 500 cc tank I know that’s big and I need over 700 pump to fill it up hahha
I had mine an Air Venturi G-6 ( rebranded, made in China) for maybe 12-13 yrs. & haven’t ‘had any breakdown, faster filling than my newer Hill Mk4 which bogged down first after a few years! the made in China handpump was more dependable & trouble free, the only thing I do with it is occasional checking of dirt & lubing it !
Save some money and build a autopump: ruclips.net/video/ffBID-dx8Es/видео.html ruclips.net/video/Lw2zdWfqV_c/видео.html I was considering to buy a PCP, but didn't know the amount how much you need to pump to get a 200-300 bars filled. That simply killed the whole idea that you can have some relaxing shooting time, as if one needs to pump 200-400 times to get to rifle going, it is not worth it, unless you are really a hunting with it and need just a few shots per day. The idea of compressor just was not worth the cost, as you pay same as for the gun. And then you need to wait 20-40 minutes to get those filled. Building a own electric pump requires 1-2 pumps and you are quickly now in the cheap air compressor price range, but you should get it still faster filled. But you don't have the space saving with it, and likely not able to run it from a 12V battery if needed. So then comes the small scuba tanks, again costly and requiring to go filling elsewhere for price. But giving 2-120 fills, they can be good option for off-grid people, again for hunting purposes as you don't shoot so much. So if wanted to do some hunting, then use the pump. It will serve better than nothing else. If wanted to do competition shooting, then it is the air compressor. And for fun shooting where you put hundreds/thousands of pellets on weekend, then it is time to get the air tank.
I use the cheapo and I love it I own two they do blow o rings but they are not bad I’ll never spend more then 50 bucks on a pump now knowing what I can get for about fifty dollars once you open one up a couple times you’ll learn what to look for and how to rebuild one I try not to shoot under 200 bar because I know at around that I’ll only have to pump it up about 110 times thats one break at around 50 pumps it’s a work out and I’m a smoker but hey it’s getting me by for now
Next time you rebuild don't use the buna nitrile O rings provided. Buy fully synthetic or EPDM, a little silicone grease and I doubt you'll ever need to change a seal again.
No but they are relatively easy to take apart. Just search online for some diagrams and you'll get the idea. Just make sure you have some 100% silicone oil and grease for the rebuild, you'll need it.
@@jasondevault5066 In order to not blow yourself up and die, you will need 100% silicone oil. Petroleum oils can combust under high pressure, whereas 100% silicone will not. I like air guns and rifles, but what worries me is those lead pellets are kind of toxic, and if end up in lawn will contaminate the soil and bad to environment. I tried to collect the pellet bits and bring to recycle depots..........
As I understand it, non-lead options are easy to find for most caliber slugs or pellets. I'd personally expect copper to be more harmful to soil life. In a small localized spot anyway, until it oxidizes away that is.

Great vid, I just got a 3622 that came with a cheap pump like the one you show. Don’t know much about PCP or maintenance on them.
Good info I just inherited a benjamin bulldog 357 ..no nothing about pcps
I’ll take 5 of the Orcair pumps all day long!
Absolutely. Wear one out? MEH!
As Easy-E would say: "Throw it in the gutta, and go buy anotha"
@@airshootist Absolutely NOT as that is just a form of conspicuous consumption, ewaste, runaway capitalism
Currently unavailable but added to my shopping list.
Thanks for sweating and sharing.
A hand pump is a damn good thing to have around.... just in case ;)
I hadn't realized it was out of stock. Hopefully it will come back in stock soon!
Thanks for sharing your comparisons...
Hello and thanks for the good educational video. Do you recommend a pump or a composite capsule for areas with humidity and rain? thanks
Yes I do. Always check the video description and pinned comments for useful links! :)
@airshootist
Thanks🙏
The only thing I don't like about this P.C.P. is that you need to point the barrel at your face to check the pressure!
Simple just don't have it loaded while doing that.
@@OGs4OGs okay.
Get the Artemis Pr900w :) the meter is under the rifle, and it has a wood stock. But its the same rifle.
@@Tamlin73 Sweet. How powerful and accurate is this rifle?? Might make a nice piece of the collection.
Great video have to see if available in UK
Just got my first pcp and shopping now 💥🥊
Pretty nice package for the price!
The filling source cost is one of the main things stearing me away from a first pcp...
[Pricing is worst in canada]
Surprised it's not outright banned up there like everything else! Haha jk jk but also sad face.... 😞
Can't you still use Amazon with just a currency exchange on the payment?
I'm still tired from that pumping over a year later!
Order my pcp hand pump since my compressor died I’m kind of dreading it lol but exited might make me get a pcp pistol for my second pcp!
Ther is no justification for this high price levels for pcp hand pumps, they are only tubes, rods, o-rings and cheap Gauges nothing much more and the production cost broberly 10£ or so and the rest costs for the overpriced company name.
Use a hand mirror if you're that self conscious. You should know the safety is on
100% correct
Get a vevor hand pump for 60$ it does the same job as the fx one that costs 250
Solid! Thanks for the effort & comparison.
That 45 dollar pump looks just like my air venturi g6 pump, I paid more than 2x that!
best part is: it was probably made in the same factory! Haha. The Orcair pump is definitely pretty nice!
Good and informative video 😊
NEVER AGAIN
@@airshootist Did you get to 3000 PSI on that 68 Ci tank? If so, How many pumps?
@@kosasin1182 I've done it before but no way am I ever hand pumping a tank that big ever again when I have several compressors!
Saw your amazon review, saw your video.. I bought it. Thanks dude.
I’m not sure if I missed you mentioning it, but I also don’t see it labeled on amazon anywhere, does it come with the foster fitting?
Yep it comes with the fill whip and there is a foster on it
@@airshootist awesome thanks bro, I’ve been wanting to get into PCP for years as I’ve always been into firearms but I thought the pcp world was out of my budget since all the guns I liked were thousands of dollars, but I then came across the Umarex origin which then lead me to the jts airacuda and now I’m just waiting on UPS to delivery it! Thanks again for helping me start out in the “real” airgun world. Lol the amount of money I’ve spent in the last 20 years on co2 bb/pellet guns is ridiculous 😂😂 gonna be making some videos soon to come on my experiences as a new pcp shooter.
Hell yeah, @@VitalArms ! I just subbed to your channel. If you ever need any advice or have questions hit me up any time airshootist@gmail.com
They are best suited for guns under 150cc, even though I got away with using them to pump a 490cc Airforce tank for over 15 years 🤣
I have rebuilt the FX and the Airforce pump more times than I can remember from all the use and they still are going strong
@@airshootist Thanks for the reply, for $45 it is a great way to get into the hobby.
Thank you Ken Block for that review!
Hahaha! You're not the first person to call me that! Cheers, dude!
I will definitely buy a compressor but going to use the hand pump for now, great videos I have really enjoyed all of yours that I have watched today.

its crazy how cheap these are, you could pick one of these up and a PR900for under £300.
i wonder if there is anything newer now that is significantly more efficient
nahh they are all the same pattern and design. I just got a new one from Vevor and it's exactly the same thing. Always good to have a few around as backups.
How longs it take to fill an air gun?
I have searched Amazon UK and can’t find the Orcair pump!
Great video. Has the new pump held up?
Thanks, James! Still going strong!
ive had my vevor pcp hand pump like 50 bucks and it started to fall apart and its only been 5 months
I would like to see effect of speed on the pump.

What scope you have on your gun. Thank you
Mostly I use Element Optics scopes on all my airguns but on this particular budget gun I am using a Nikon rimfire scope.
Mine was $129 Mcs brand.😩
I have been using my Chinese air pump for almost 8years now
Pump to 220bar with no problems at all
And I have 500 cc tank
I know that’s big and I need over 700 pump to fill it up hahha
I had mine an Air Venturi G-6 ( rebranded, made in China) for maybe 12-13 yrs. & haven’t ‘had any breakdown, faster filling than my newer Hill Mk4 which bogged down first after a few years! the made in China handpump was more dependable & trouble free, the only thing I do with it is occasional checking of dirt & lubing it !

I was considering to buy a PCP, but didn't know the amount how much you need to pump to get a 200-300 bars filled.
30 pumps every 6 shots?
I’m gonna call an ambulance after 10min of plinking

I have a umarex pump. Do you make a rebuild video?
No but they are relatively easy to take apart. Just search online for some diagrams and you'll get the idea. Just make sure you have some 100% silicone oil and grease for the rebuild, you'll need it.
@@airshootist Thanks. I have the grease, what oil do you recommend?
@@jasondevault5066 In order to not blow yourself up and die, you will need 100% silicone oil. Petroleum oils can combust under high pressure, whereas 100% silicone will not. Here is what I use: amzn.to/44a6ikE

@@slaveofjesus3878 yeah, copper toxic too.....rather sad, isn't it? but no third option.......comparative speaking, which one is less toxic???
You're only putting it back from where it came from are you not..?
@@davidmartin1093 But lead ore is in form of PbS and is confined inside lead.mine. What you have said is partially true.
Hitting hard a hand pump at the ends up and down will destroy them fast.
