Justin built his engine based on the test mule Butler made to test the IAII block, it made 2800hp/tq way back 20 years ago. they have an article about it on their website. Check it out, its a really cool build. Its virtually the same, except the mule didn't have as much port work as Justin's engine. The 63 LeMans belongs to Rodney. This was on TV well after Justin was building his engine. As it happens, I have the same port work in the heads on my 467 that I ordered from Butler while I was deployed to Kuwait back in 2004. Later this year they are going on a 505 cube bottom end Butler is doing for me right now. Mine is not going to be a 3000hp mill like in the crow. When I throw boost to it, the most it will ever see is 20psi. That should be good for an easy 1500 to 2000hp, if I want to get that 'stupid' with it. Still have to build the car its going in. I'm not doing it to be competitive with the big dogs or set the world on fire, no way I can keep up with the crow using the parts in my 'on the way' engine. I am not intending it for that. I can't afford a build like that for one, I have less invested in my house than what that bottom end would cost. I have something I want to do, and this is probably the last time I will be able to afford to do it. How do I know all of this? Well... I kinda know people, and consider Jim to be a personal friend. The Pontiac world is rather small, we tend to know each other to some extent.
My buddy put a turbo 3.8 out of a T type into a 65 buick Skylark. It's surprisingly quick and definitely turns some heads since the sound doesn't match the car/speed at all.
I built a similar system for my 1976 Bandit TransAm about 10 yrs ago. Butler stroker crank, eagle BBC rods, ported factory 6H heads. 9:1 Ross pistons. I had Butler make a solid roller cam 224/224 and 600 lift on 114 LCs. Twin Garrett GTX3076Rs at 12psi, no intercooler. Through the factory T10 and 3.08 gears, that car will spin the 335s from 55-100mph in 3rd gear without clutching it. The low rpm torque is fun, but yeah, its a little scary.
Snails are one of the slowest organisms on Earth until you bolt a couple to your engine. Upon doing so they'll continue leaving a sticky icky path of where they've been.
THANK GOD! This isn’t another turbo LS build!
Put a lil bit of weld for that damn clamp to bite on so the hose dont slip off lol. Jeeezus
This is like alittleversion of big chiefs engine, hell he probably got the idea from this episode back in the day lol just added some more cubes
Its big chiefs car

Can't wait to see the full potential ❤🇦🇺 love your work guys
I was searching for the rest of the episode!!! Yay
So why not go to Kenne Belle and get a Buick 400 and make it a true Buick ?
Woulda been cool to see a grand national swap in the Buick wagon.

Great vid!!!! 👍👍👍

This must be so old. Putting clamp ridges on pipes with butt connector pliers is common knowledge now.
These episodes were on TV 10 years ago, so yeah, kinda old.
UMM, this was a buick car? Why did they do a Buick 430/455?
What was that nasty knock at shutdown after the first dyno pass? I noticed it at startup too....
I heard something there too. Not sure what it was
When will Part 3 be available ?
Why put a Pontiac in a Buick? Nothing against the Pontiac but Buick made excellent of there own. Not to mention a history of turbocharging.

Perfect chance to build a turbo buick for the turbo buick and that has confused me since this build series was new
Mike Galley working in that oil galley oh yeah
I’m shocked that nobody was wearing safety glasses in the machine shop.
Wrist pins on the pistons !! 😱😱😱😱 wow, notorious in 389's lose those in high hp engines. Good Luck
What would you use instead?
These are not stock parts. There will be no problem with that
do you have a parts list? like the pulley assembly from O'Reilly Auto Parts you mentioned
You guys should look at the Morimoto/Holly retro bright headlights
What company builds that degree wheel you use?
Pretty sure Justin shearers car not only makes more power but is faster, he doesn't like 1/4 mile but his fastest 1/8 was sub 4 second at 200mph
6.25 IS sub 4's in the 1/8th. 3.90. This is old. They've been faster.
Third and final Sucker Punch episode: www.powernationtv.com/build/16/78-buick-century-wagon-sucker-punch?episode=HP2012-07
What's an estimate of the parts and build for this engine? If you charged for the labor I see here?
Curious
Thanks
Out of yours and mine price range
That rack and pinion steering is not up to the task. That doesnt look safe at all!
What brand degree wheel is that?
PONTIAC POWA
800÷8=100 so they are aiming for 100 hp per cylinder
Worried about the engine being streetable after putting a spool (the most unstreetable drivetrain part ever) in the rear end. Duh.
A Pontiac engine in that Buick wagon is just wrong now matter how you look at it. NO excuses.
👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽
So 650 hp with 7psi. 4 more psi...800 hp...maybe if its an easy dyno, put that on the dream killer dyno
Actually it would have taken 15lbs to make 800+ with that engine.
I feel like you'd be farther ahead to build a stroker
It is
Ok yeah that'd be nice. Aftermarket block, 505 or 535 with aluminum rods would get it done . And upgrade them heads and cam lol
get rid of that carb hat its costing you power
ZERO gunpowder content..... Lame. I can get car content anywhere from anyone.
Disappointed wth guys, supposed to be professional and didn't bead roll the pipe
Dodge demons have 800+ horsepower ND they don't have a full chassis either these guys are over doing it
430 hp.. natural aspirated ...add a turbo to make 370 more hp gtfoh
Dude it has 8.5:1 cr
I would of went LS rather than sticking all that work into that old style engine!
yeah but that's because you have no imagination
This aired in 2002, probably filmed in 2001, maybe earlier. LS swaps were still rather new at that time.
