Have a nice trip in Thailand
The crispy pancake is called 'khanom buang' which has two types: savory and sweet. The dark orange one is savory made from coconut, shrimp, and some herbs. The light yellow one is sweet made from egg yolk in noodle shape boiled in a syrup. The white cream is like liquid meringue, yes.
The meatball is called 'Sai krok Isan', it's more like a sausage. There is a real meatball called 'look chin ping', which normally is meatballs on a stick with spicy sauce. It's one of the most popular meat snacks for Thai people, every night market has it. You may try it next time.

You guys are right. That's the smell of ammonium bicarbonate. They added it to make it crispy and fluffy for longer. If you don't want the ammonia smell. I recommend you just let it cool for a while before eating. Because the ammonia has not yet evaporated from the dough.
Ahh thank you!! We had read after that it may have been bakers ammonia, we didn’t knows the smell disappeared though! Is it very common? We’ve never encountered it prior!

@@IfWeGoTo Yes It's a baker's ammonia. I tried baking powder instead of ammonia. It can be put in but its texture will not be the same as what you eat in this video.

Thai food uses colors and scents from natural plants. such as green from pandan leaves and blue from butterfly pea flowers
Such a good way to add color and flavor!! butterfly tea is the one that changes color with lemon right??
The deep fried Chinese chives are actually something you have to eat with seasoned dark soy sauce. It's a salty, fragrant, sweet sauce that goes well with fried chives. I saw it in the orange bottle on the table where you sat and ate it. You missed the super combo. Fried chives already 🤣🤣😁😁🙏🙏
Ohh so it was fried chives! It was so mellow it tasted like spinach! Next time we will have to make sure to add the sauce! Sounds like we missed out.

A bit of ammonia is used in the fried dough (Pa Tong Khow). It helps fried create the air balloon inside and if used in the right amount it will be evaporated by the heat. However, you should avoid the fried with a strong ammonia smell since it can harm your tissue. Leave it cold (but not too cold) helps to let it evaporate.

The donut spot is "recommended" in the Michelin Guide. You still haven't eating Michelin Star. Next time in Bangkok you can try Jay Fai's overpriced Michelin star street food.

A scorpion I would imagine might not have too much for taste It has to be completely a mental image to get over but that's cool that you both accomplished that
The mental part was a very tough one to get through!! Hahaha. The taste... you're right was not too flavorful, but it was a bit bitter in the aftertaste. Would you try it?!

The smell from dough came from the old cooking oil, better come really early to avoid that smell. I also experience that smell when I visit their shop.
We read that it may also be something called bakers ammonia!! Do you think it was old oil or is it possible they may use the baking ammonia??

@@IfWeGoTo It possible, maybe they used it because of lot of people coming to try it. but some of my friend told me it might come from old cooking oil. But I only experience this smell from only this shop. Never find somewhere else in Thailand.

at 2:17 that smell is ammonia it an ingredient of this kind of dessert en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youtiao / it just came out from the pan if you don't want that smell you leave it for 10-15 minute
