My timing on this video was almost as good as that goal, other than where I commented on his finishing needing work! Which it does overall but it’ll come because his instincts are clearly on another level. What a prospect!
He is a generational talent. As a Sunderland fan I watch him every week and I talk with my friends about how good he is, and not just for a 17 year old, I mean this kid is special. When we sell him, and we will, it will be for eye-watering money. Currently, one of the bigger clubs in the world should grab a £60m bargain, because WHEN Sunderland go back up to the Premier League it will be a lot more than that.
Completely agree. The longer they keep him the more the price goes up. Could be club-changing revenue but still a shame he’ll eventually leave, particularly if Sunderland get promoted and could offer him PL experience next season.
As a Sunderland fan I agree with you. I reckon we can hold on to him until the summer, however if we get promoted I reckon we will keep him for another year or two, unless a crazy amount of money comes in for him. I’d love it if he stayed and developed with us and help us rise up over the coming years though. Be hard to find another young talent like him though when he does leave!
He has the ability to play at the Highest Level as Real Madrid and Dortmund are both looking at him hopefully as a Sunderland fan he stays with us but the world is his Oyster.
Chris Rigg didn't sign a contract extension. In the UK youngsters can only sign a professional contract from age 17. So if he had wanted to he could have signed a contract with another Club. Thankfully he saw his current progression at Sunderland and chose to sign a 3 year deal with the Red & White Wizards. Chris Rigg ole ole ole
@@pitchsidepub yes he could have left after his youth contract ran out to join anyone. Like I said fortunately he saw his development still at Sunderland and signed a 3 year professional contract. I was not trying to be rude just adding a bit context
@@blackfloki7283 If we are to be absolutely accurate then Rigg was actually 12 months in on a 24 month scholarship contract this summer when he signed a 3 year senior conract at 17. 12 months into his 2 year scholarship contract he could have forced a move elsewhere this summer leaving Sunderland with only a tribunal compensation fee for him. Rigg wasn't out of contract, still had 12 months to run so 'The Pitchside Pub' is correct, Rigg extended his contract with Sunderland. Ha'way the lads!
Why would Chris Rigg leave Sunderland any time soon. He will gain a lot more , knowledge and game time where he is.. The last two to leave are busy warming benches at the moment, Stay where you are young man at least for a couple of years.
Agreed. Rigg has a wise head on his young shoulders. He knows he'll learn more and get far more minutes on the grass with us this season and hopefully next. Just like young Bellingham he's developed leaps and bounds in the last 12 months.
@@philbrinsley2876 I agree it’s what’s best for him and his development, but money talks and usually ends up winning. So does prestige if the really big clubs come calling. Hopefully he doesn’t make a move before he’s ready and hopefully it’s to a place where he can play, and in the meantime if Sunderland can get a promotion, they can continue to be the best place for him.
If he leaves sunderland i would like him to go to dortmund man u and chelsea will wash him and real madrid he wont get minutes But if he goes to dotmund hell be playing champions league football
I agree, it’s virtually inevitable that he leaves eventually. But a promotion could buy Sunderland one more season simply by being able to offer him Premier League action. Will that be enough?
@pitchsidepub Think most of our fans know it's inevitable that the top clubs will be circling when the transfer window opens again. Hopefully we have him for another season at least 🤞
Then he scores an audacious back- heel and his awarded thec ' player of the match' award 3 days after this excellent video. 😉👍🌟

Great video! As a yank Sunderland supporter, this was a must-watch!
Thank you! Always nice to find a fellow American fan.
Dortmund would really help him grow. He will fit that role that Pascal Gros is occupying this season
I always feel comfortable when a young player goes to Dortmund, despite what’s happened to Gio Reyna!

Ok, extension or professional contract, call it what you will. He was on the verge of being able to leave and then signed for 3 more years.

All good, we have some different terminology here in the states but it all amounts to around the same end result

Ssshhhh. Don't talk about him to much, as we want him to stay 😉. When he does go the fee has to be way more than what we got for Pickford.
