The way he can bring any ball under control and deliver an accurate shot or pass in a split second is unsurpassed. There is so much accuracy in his movements. And he is not egoistic about it, no goalgetter, no going at it himself when a pass is better. He is a great team player and nice personality. Well done Dennis, you gave us a great time.

The player that I fell in love with watching and so supported Arsenal. His football IQ was unreal, not the fastest or the strongest but possibly the brainiest footballer I've seen. Such flair and touch, he may not have the most assists but the way he opened so many teams up was beautiful. His goal against Newcastle at the start of these clips for me is the best goal I've still seen, never seen it replicated its so unique. Im grateful I was alive to at least watch him for the last few years of his career.

Very, very special player. Nobody can be taught what players like Bergkamp could do, it came to him naturally, all you can do is cultivate their gift, which we don't really see today with all this stat based football, "shoot low, play it into the box for tap ins" and choosing players to train at a young age based on strength and speed over skill and intelligence.

It's insane how he's kind of the underrated one these days. His peak was probably the highest out of them. That position doesn't really exist now at high levels. They'd probably all get coached to be AM or #10 now and would be kind of expected to be more athletic. Imagine any of them with modern coaching and training. He was unbelievable, what say and which comment put here, is enough to see how he played , and what magic he did with ball. That touch , asist and shot that is master piece . One and only unforgettable Denis Bergckamp !!

Today's "superstars" can only dream of such ball control.
Notice that most goals here are against a "set defence" ....not counter attacks. He doesn't need 50 square meters behind the defender, doesn't need 2 players overlapping. He uses skill and creativity.
Today's players can only run...but not play.

Bergkamp was my football hero when I was a little kid, the one that inspired me and the one I wanted to copy.
I remember during training at my amateur club we attempted to try the thing he did during that famous newcastle goal, im still convinved physics doesnt allow it and after destroying our knees we all settled on recreating it with the outside of our right feet instead. 😂

When you watch this he is a player from another world, other level, his level, no one comes close.. An underrrated , 'forgotten player .Most of the time when people are talking about great players on tv , no one mentions Bergkamp. You know them all; Messi ,Maradonna, Ronaldo, Curijff, Pele , v Basten , Gullit.etc. But no one had the technique and football intelligence of Bergkamp No one. A very modest player and gentleman. Maybe thats why he is "forgotten".

I’ve always believed Dennis Bergkamp, in his purple patches, was a greater footballer than Messi or Ronaldo. Odegaard is now trying to push that same envelope but it’s not easy.

Queria muito ter visto o Bergkamp jogando com os promissores jovens meias que o Arsenal revelaria nas temporadas seguintes, Fábregas; Rosicky; Wilshere; Ramsey; Cazorla etc....

Maybe not the GOAT footballplayer of all the time. But definitely the greatest 'artist' to ever lace up and grace the footballfield with his art. Bergkamp playing football is poetry in motion.
