- There's a problem with the worktops! In this episode I'll explain what went wrong then ask if you would use the company having been given all the information.
Meanwhile, there's plenty of progress happening elsewhere around the house...
Big thank you to Brad for doing such a great job fitting the worktops, here is his number if you need his services:
07376 287162
and also thank you to Sam who did a fantastic job fitting the floor and organising Ardent to complete the survey to establish whether the floor is dry enough for the floor to be laid. He really did do the lot and I'm extremely happy with the result.
Here is his number:

All music in this video is from the Epidemic music app.
Thank you all for watching.
Kitchen looks superb. Attention to detail on those grooves is poor, it would wind me up no end but the missus would tell me to shut up and stop moaning. Oak veneer doors look excellent. Utility bucket still awful 😂 cheers mate, cracking progress!
Thanks for the shout out Adam. Sophia is chuffed (as am I)! The kitchen looks mint. The tap and the worktops really do finish it off very nicely. Well done man!
It all looks wonderful Adam. Luv the sprayed doors, magic. Well done 👍
The house is looking great. The LVT floor really does suit the space. You definitely need to get the worktop 'specialist' to rectify their mistakes. Personally, I wouldn't have gone with sharp corners on the island. It won't be fun if anyone walks into them.
Great finished job Adam, you should be super proud.
On the worktop problem, I totally agree with you. Signing off the template, you are not signing for the accuracy of fit!
Had the templating/survey been carried out using a digital scan, then you would have never known!
Great video..
Great series of videos enjoyed watching them Cheers Adam
You're a miracle worker, I remember the first videos when you gutted it. Looks beautiful 👍
Only ever used toupret filler because I heard it was easy to Sand, recently damaged a wall with my chair and bought some more, it brought a smile to my face when you brought it up to the camera, good quality!
It's great stuff mate! Can't believe that I forgot all about it!
Excellent episode yet again Adam .. love the channel 👍👍👍
Thank you, Phil. Nice one for that.
Looking great Adam
What a fantastic finish, can't fault nothing, looks superb, great job Adam.
Thank you, Steve. You've been with us from the start and I really appreciate it mate.
Looking great Adam. Nice work mate.
Thank you, Paul. Hope you're well, mate.
Great to see the worktop finally in place and how far you've come. LVT done right will last forever
Haha! That's a great emoji! I've never seen that before! Cheers mate, really appreciate you watching and commenting. All the best.
Watching you talking about the flooring I was just thinking "I remember back when this was all a hole with bricks and rubble!" haha Looking really good.
That bank of plugs is a bank of socket your words are slipping HAHA, it is looking absolutely amazing my good man what a difference from a work site to a wonderful home you deserve a great deal of praise for you tireless work good egg.
Haha! Fair enough! You got me there! Thank you, Dennis. I really appreciate your time watching the videos and commenting on them. It means a lot. All the best mate.
It's looking great mate 👍 I would have put the "urn" at the back of the cupboard. You could still install a removable shelf above it and even on the waste side - they're handy to store small things.
Adam all that hard work is definitely paying off, your home is looking fantastic. Can't wait for the party where you invite Brad and all your subscribers 😂
Haha! Imagine if I did invite all the subscribers...my ego would be shattered when no one turns up!!!
What an entertaining video, house looks great.
Thank you Edward! Glad you enjoyed it!
Love your attitude! Been with you on the journey and the house, your home looks deadly!
Thank you, Peter! I really appreciate you sticking with us all this time! Thank you very, very much.
Looking very nice 👌
absolutely beautiful pal. love the worktops and doors 👍
Thank you, Andy. Hope you're well mate.
@@mrabuilders6723 i’m good thanks pal, hope your good. so is it still on for the big move in before christmas 🎄
Excellent video especially when you pick up a few tips especially about the Kitchen Work Surface.Home stretch now you’ll be in by Crimbo as you said.👏
Those shiny primed doors are a nightmare to paint, Water based paint will not bond to the primer and as you found out the paint sits on the top and runs, even happens to me and Ive sprayed hundreds
With 33 days left till Christmas I'm hoping to see your tree go up in a video👌you've done an amazing job and it's been cracking to watch
Your getting there now mate. Well done 👍
Cheers mate!
All looks great
Thank you, Anthony!
Brilliant video, Adam, very informative as per usual. A bit of a bummer when you enlist a company to do a job and it doesn't go to plan.
Think you were very understanding with regards to draining grooves, if it had been one of my customers they would have kicked off!
Anyway the end surely is in sight now. 😊 look forward to the next installment 🙏
It is mate but all's well that ends well. You're right about customers though, a few of mine would kick off too and I can't blame them. The thing is with mine is that I struggle to film it and even see it when the lights are on, so is it that big of an issue for me? Probably not, but it's not right either!
Yeah like you said moving forward you'd make sure they got this kind of thing sorted.
Granite companies I've used are all templated electronically so the slightest details can be entered.
End of the day finished job looks lovely. Didn't know if was keen on true handless doored kitchen but I must admit I do like it. Colours are just right ✅️ 👌
My worktop was measured by a guy with a LASER and it was still 100mm out(!) The fact they had to resupply that piece of quartz again, then fucked the grooves up... Id have sent that back mate :)
Absolutely fab, issues are all relative to the owner/user. I can live with the groove issue because I probably like the randomness versus geometric precision. Agree with the gap issue, firms do themselves harm in the customer service element when they want to brush things aside. We all make mistakes it’s how companies deal with these things that make them the best versus worst. Love the spray work and again and again your attention to detail is mind blowing. Our good news is we’ve sold our house and bought our bungalow but we’ve been here before so for the next 4 months it will be nail biting time and your work I can only dream of aspiring to. The floor is great I’m just doing similar in my lads salon basement in Brum and we’ve had 2 coats of DPC prior to the latex covering. And the company dealing with the floor is one of those we will sort it don’t worry outfits versus the sort 😂that suck air through their teeth and don’t come back. Hopefully finished next weekend 100 metres square. At my age so much going on. I wish you will be well sorted for Christmas. All the best to all of you. Mike 😜👍🏻
Nicely timed video. I've got the same doors in pre primed white so great to see your take on spraying them. With regards to your runs in paint you could sand the runs with wet and dry paper then just roller the paint over the effected area. The best roller to use which gives an almost flat finish similar to spray is the 'rota concave mini roller' they're grey and less than a tenner for a pack.
Mate you have no idea how useful and helpful that information is! Thank you very much!
Thanks, going to try those rollers myself. 👍
yes some rollers are brilliant for flatwork
Done great there Adam
Usually the airless sprayer blows all the plastic protection everywhere you’ve got it well taped down.
Thank you Peter. That's all down to statically charged plastic! It's the future!
Yeah I know the static in the plastic just clings to smooth surfaces
Solid job on the kitchen. In the end... I guess it's price vs perfection, if you're paying out the rear and not getting perfection then you don't recommend, if you're paying for a solid job in a world where you have to take the ups with the downs ... you make peace with value and then quality where you can afford the time, money or hassle to demand it. ... Also, bucket sink is genius.
Haha! Cheers man, you wouldn't believe the stick I've gotten for that sink! I like it, and it was free! As for the worktops, it came in at £4200, so paying through the rear end isn't an understatement! Let's see what they say in terms of a response! Thank you for watching mate.
Your house, your old rusty bucket but I think that is one of those decisions that we all have thinking "this is interesting and quirky" right up until it hits you that it is actually a bit shit.
Haha! Some people say that about the Cysteine Chapel!!! Can't please them all, pal.
@@mrabuilders6723 Is your rusty bucket an original Michaelangelo? Fair play it does look old enough.
Looking really nice Adam you should be well chuffed.
Regarding them drainer grooves, they should be able to adjust/rectify them on site if it comes to it.
Cheers mate, it's getting there! Maybe they could mate, just not sure it's worth making the fuss!
Amazing job, cos I'm now going to have to watch the first video again top stuff
Don't do that mate, I'm A Celebrity is on!
Those draining grooves can be corrected on site quite easily. They all need to be the same length in my opinion. The kitchen looks great though.
Are always issues , but as you say its the getting it resolved correctly and professional that counts
Last part of my comment missing , oh well hopefully the next project will be as great as this well done
Brilliant video as usual, the sink is a no from me..🙈, but I understand needs must sometimes, them drain lines are bad, your right about customers knocking it back so why can't you, the upheaval it would mean to refit these v leaving them..🤷🏾♂️, can they redo on site..🤷🏾♂️
Keep up the fantastic channel..
Loved this series, Adam, lovely job indeed.
Thank you Paul, there's still a bit more to come if everything goes to plan! Hope you're well mate.
The drainer grooves would drive me bonkers !
Another great video looking fantastic its time we did your garden next
Yes mate!!! I think we need to have a proper chat about that!
Whenever you are ready mrboss 👍🏻
Nice one, Rob! Get in touch via our email please pal and we'll talk things through!
Nice series. Are you going to show more videos on the house with front elevation falling off?
problems have to be solved window could tweaked inwards split the difference couple of hours work nice compo from w/top supplers quids in grooves on w/top why on the angle? you will probably use a drainer in the future we did! top job adam cheers baz from over the border
Great job Adam and useful tips as usual 👍 what was the oil you used for the doors? I must of missed you mentioning it if you had 🤔
another brilliant video adam your home is absolutely gorgeous id hightly recamend your company for anywork id take on if you lived buy me well done to you and your staff
Thank you very much, Mick. That's a lovely thing to say. Hope you're well mate.
Wonder if the drainage grooves could have been on the right hand side of the sink?
Whole house looks good. One thing with fire doors, they tend to fit two hinges at the top, my Trend hinge jig gives that option, it's to stop the door dropping because of it's weight.
Absolutely love that floor
Thank you, Colin.
Cut on the skunt , great phase Adam .😊
Haha! You'll be using that one within a week!
I would absolutely have sent the sink bit back because I wouldn't ever get used to seeing misaligned groove edges (I spotted it well before you mentioned it in the video) -- definitely a first world problem, but a first world problem every. single. time it comes into view? For that money? No way.
But then, I wouldn't have the grooves at all because I'd rather have the countertop be more flexible with use rather than force that part to always be a drainer, so I guess it wouldn't stop me ordering! Good to know that if I do order from them I will have to watch the template process like a hawk. Thank you!
Hello Brooke, hope you're well. I fully understand what you're saying and as I mentioned in the video I've had customers in the past that would absolutely not stand for it. It's interesting that you saw it before I mentioned it! Thank you for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it. Take care.
Was waiting yesterday evening
So I'll have to watch it now then 🤣
Didn't habe you down for a Tree Huuging Ginger tes drinker Adam lol, lovely kitchen indeed. At least they sorted it.
can't remember who did our countertops but they looks almost the same
and they fitted perfectly because the chap came out with one of them nasa space measuring gadgets from the future of sci-fi
however, like you, we had a small issue in that one of the smaller panels was cut the wrong size
not an issue at all though as it's made a nice cutting board now
Oi, you're a day late. Don't let it happen again or we'll send the boys round, without biscuits 😊Looking good, love that floor...
Haha! I won't I promise!!!
What's the craic with the skirting between the 2 doors in the front bedroom?
looks like skirting is going from frame to frame with the door arcative cut too meet it..
Other than that.. loving this build and the channel. Did you save any of the original tiles from the old hall way for you're new front hall?? 👍👍✌🇮🇪
That floor does look really good, particularly as its continuous through the house.
Nice…. A Monday night treat, going to have to raid the fridge now and settle down for my fx of MrA 🙌. Nice to see the jigtech handle system Adam did all my new oak doors with them, about 15mins each door with the jig, looks very pro and a piece of cake to do 👍🍺 well it looked like the larger jigtech when I first looked 😂 still very smart though 👍
P.S as for Washington the cup, I’d scrape that out, you might have discovered the cure for the common cold 😊
Yes mate, I bought the Jig Tech latches as I found them very competitive in price. What was your snack of choice???!!!
@mrabuilders6723 😂 found half a bottle malibu and some coke and ice and finished off with some cheese bites and a dip of some sort of chutney 🤦♂️. House is looking great Adam, bet Mrs A can't wait to choose the curtains 😋- keep up the good work 👍🏻
I’m a decorator I use Knauf Cove Adhesive it’s great as a filler and sands really well a bag lasts for ages
Finally! Woohoo congratulations on the upload lol 🙌❤😂
Haha! Cheers man! Hope you enjoy it.
Kitchen is looking mint Adam and I agree, customer service is the key to a successful business. No matter how big or small the issue maybe. Just look at how Apple operate. My Mac is 6 years old and I still get free technical help from them. The thing that would have won you over as a walking advert for them, would have been them owning the mistake. Mistakes happen!
Many moons ago I paid 1.2k for an oak wardrobe from M&S, they delivered the wrong colour and after literally calling me a fibber. 4 months later and after they sent the correct colour, but the wrong size… I received the correct item and after refunds and compensation, I paid little more the. £200. Record your phone calls.
Toupret is a brilliant filler. I used it in my last house, it sanded really well. Most of the other readymade fillers set way too hard, so hard that the plaster was wearing down faster than the filler. 😂
Fair plAy to you mate. Sick n tired of multi millionaires doing renovations! Good to see you doing what you do on a budget that you have to try and work to
Cheers, Andrew! Hope you're well mate. Yes mate, been on a strict budget since day one, and it's getting more and more difficult!
@@mrabuilders6723 we all know the initial budget I s a “wish for”. It’s always exceeded. Changes in this n that. Price increases lately on materials.
You’ve done well mate. You deserve to have your family there for THIS Christmas!
My kitchen worktops were fitted by Purple Granite Bromsgrove. They were brilliant. Our drain groves are not good - they just don't really work but they look good !
As they have been for everyone else that I know that they've done work for, and ultimately myself. Just a slightly rockier road than maybe it should have been, but all is well that ends well.
You have an amazing house and kitchen. It will only be your brilliant videos that will remind you of the challenges you had to overcome. Once you move in its all history.
Great Video, Pity about the two items of stress Caused by the template guy.. My question would be was it the worktop templater guy or your own .. if worktop co, really was down to them..
Its looking truly amazing.. Would totally love a final cost video when you are all done.. (hmm evidence for the Tax man ?? )
Its been a great build for sure
Hello Chris, hope you're well. Everything regarding the worktops was down to Purple Granite. All's well that ends well though!
Great stuff Adz, worth pointing out, Greg doesn't seem too happy about those draining grooves. 😅
We all know Greg is a very hard man to please!!! Haha! Glad you noticed him!
@@mrabuilders6723 I thought it was the rock at first 🤣🤣
Flooring and kitchen worktops are looking cracking bud. I haven't tried spraying woodwork yet, I quite like the brush finish personally.
The Stath!!! How are you? If I had a couple of doors to do then I'd brush them, but with all of them to do with everything else I thought id give it a go. All in all, with 3 coats, there's about 3 minutes of painting time, but there's a lot of faff to get there.
Adam, your property is looking just awesome; you all must be so chuffed. It’s a shame you had the issue with the work surface in as much as you shouldn’t have to argue your point. Someone not so strong minded would have been forced into accepting poor detailing which is just not acceptable. The finished product does look stunning though now it’s installed. Hopefully purple granite watched your vid and have taken steps to improve their customer service and quality control.
Fantastic unbiased video as per normal.
Thank you Patrick. It's getting there mate, I'll be chuffed when it's done that's for sure! Cheers man.
@@mrabuilders6723 So will your family, pal! Great work and in a few moths time you'll have forgotten all the mistakes and problems and just enjoy living in a lovely home.
Absolutely gorgeous all round Adam. Can't help but wonder if the Quartz company only sorted the issues because of the YT exposure...they may be a bit different with regular clients ??
Got to be honest all the worktop companies we dealt with over the years (carpenter & joiner here for 37yrs) are normally really good at sorting out any issues & take full responsibility for any mistakes.
But as with all companies there will always be some crap ones.
Hmmm...I doubt it mate. I didn't tell them but I did tell the fitters because we needed their permission to timelapse the fitting, which I obviously didn't use in the end! They may have told the company when they took the piece back? Who knows!
In your reveal, what did they put under the quartz? Was it cushioned by any foam or just fixed?
Could you use the floor planks for skirting ?
47:17 MUAH HAHAHAHA...*Rolls eye's and groans*
Thanks for turning up Jasper lad, thought you lost your phone on the trampoline again. I’ve got them doors, still bare after 2 months of hanging them, what was the oil pops used?
Mate, if we ever meet I'll tell you the story of what happened this Saturday night...I was very nearly back on the trampoline!!! I meant to mention this in the video...the only oil that it says can be used is Osmo door oil. As in literally the only oil that can be used, for some reason!
I'm from Yorkshire and I don't buy Yorkshire tea too bloody expensive 😂 tetley tea for me 😊 house looking ace 👌
😂 thats a ripper! 'nah, mate you signed off on details that are measured in millimetres so it's on you'. I would've told him to tell his story walking. You're correct though, he was hopeful you were someone he could walk over with bullshit. The amount of fking about in trying to save the piece would've been more costly anyway. Its a 20mm square edge job in quartz, not a bookmatched 40mm+ marble job with slabs that are $10k each. Template bloke should of had +7mm on the back edge corner and 0mm on the opposite corner. Its all on the template guy because the sawyer cant start randomly guessing shit and the fabricators would've put templates on the pieces to check before loading it on a frame to go out.
Can I ask where the doors are from.
gypsum easy fill is the the best out there
How did you find the dulux paint ? Would you recommend. I've got so much painting to do 😐 cheers
Hello Kurt, hope you're well. It's great stuff mate, I highly recommend it.
@@mrabuilders6723 Cheers for that 👍
Paint sprayer; “from the commencement of the siren, all crimes including murder will be legal….”
Haha! I take it you're a brush and roller kinda fella?
I’m more of a wait till my missus gets that annoyed she paints it 😂
5 minutes with a router and a v-grooving bit and and a straight edge, andthat plain door would be transformed .
Oooo....do I go for it???!!! We shall see!!!
That kitchen exec was taking the piss. I'd expect the sign off to be for the general layout and not to supervise the templaters' measurements. But I wonder how often they get away with phone calls like that with less experienced customers? Well done for sticking to your guns.
The thought you had regarding how many times have they got away with it, I had myself. If I was a granny goggins they may have talked me round, and I'd be left with a substandard product.
Probably a stupid idea, but could you prime the pump with the "step 2" gloss to push the rest of the primer through? Save buying extra paint you don't need?
That's not a stupid idea at all! The only issue would be knowing when the transition between the two paints occurs, but now that you've mentioned it I reckon I can sort that!
That bedroom with one wood finish door- why don’t you just paint the inside white to match the other two and leave the landing side and the sides wood to match the other doors off the landing?
Can you not swap the doors with the runs in ,they look opposite opening
steel frame dishrack by simplehuman would look good
Lack of quality control !!
Can't disagree with that, mate.
I thought I was the only one with a receding hairline. Good to know I'm not fighting this alone 😂
I wonder if the granite fella clicked who you were after the first call and realised his company would end up on youtube? Just a thought - its amazing what the prospect of bad publicity can do to the minds of a CEO
do you think the sharp corners on island and laundry shelves will be a injury hazard? i think the person you rung was very unprofessional, he should of said we will come round straight away and investigate were the issue / mistake has happened. it would be obvious instantly and then discuss options and solutions. yes the quality control is a bit slack. mistakes happen, no one is perfect, but handled badly. i would give them another chance if it is isolated and out of norm but if happens again they get no more business.
THOSE DRAINING LINES WOULD P ME RIGHT OFF. I'M SURE THAT CAN BE RECTIFIED IN SITU. I GET THEM BACK OUT.
I very well may do mate.
Yes it’s a bit push fitty😂
You just know what there like!
Haha!!! It's in the top range of my skill set!!!
Not him! 😂
Haha! The poor bloke couldn't have timed it better if he tried!
That gun makes it look easy
Defo would of sent the sink bit back
All the graft from trench to roof tile would all come down to the detail , I wouldn’t of felt ok knowing my mrs was at the sink grinding her teeth at those grooves!!
Water based gloss dosent stink and stays white longer but not as glossy as enamel based - which yellows to quickly and stinks. Why can’t they invent a inbetween??
Ahhhh...the mythical Goldilocks of paint!!! Maybe one day mate!
At last. 😅
Sorry mate!
spray finish is 100 times better
I agree mate, but the pitfalls are endless!!!
Get brad out he will do it for you I’m sure it does look bad
I may do just that mate!
Bit disappointed really oh well
X girlfriend 😂😂
Haha! I think you're the only one to catch that one!
horrible audio
Soz.
