Been following Walt for a while now and bought the G90. Love it. I've done all kinds of DX with it along with great POTA contacts inside the country. You got a great deal cuz I had to pay an extrea $90 for the radiator.
Wow! Thanks for the kind words! I enjoyed the video and subscribed. You are going to love that G90. Hope to catch you on the bands my friend. 73, Walt K4OGO
Walt, I am happy that you stopped by my channel. I have been a Ham Operator for a long time but took about 20 years off the air. Since returning to Ham Radio, I have begun to search RUclips content, and your videos are the ones I enjoy the most. I have mentioned you in a few of my upcoming videos because of your positive support of all Hams and your impact on my return to the hobby. I am very impressed and happy you have subscribed to my channel. I am really enjoying the Xeigu G90. I still feel the company should be sending you influencer checks. All the best, my friend, and keep up the great video content. 73s.
Hello Jack, I'm another old guy (74). I am ex-N0AVV - General Class license expired in 2001, I am following your journey back into ham radio with keen interest. I am taking the Technician test on May 13th and assuming I pass it, I will get credit for my General and return back to the air as a general. I will be purchasing a Xeigu G90 the first of the month (it can't get here soon enough) along with a lot of other needed/wanted goodies. I've decided on my antenna build, power supply, logging software and a lot of other things and can't wait to get going again. My old call sign is still available after all this time so I am wrestling with getting it back or assuming a new identity. I hope to contact you on the air as I am into CW as well. Thanks for making your videos as it is encouraging me to keep going and get back on the air. - Charlie
I am glad to hear you are also getting back into the hobby! Ham radio, to me, is much different than it was years ago, especially since the noise floor has increased. You will love the G90. I have more videos where I take this radio into the field, and it performs amazingly. I have also used it on my home antenna, and it did very well. I hope to catch you on the air sometimes; we can rag chew with CW. Thanks for watching. 73s.
That "serial connection" is for attaching the radio head when/if you remove it for remote mounting, or to connect the optional XIEGU GSOC REMOTE CONTROLLER.
@@MyHamRadioJourney When I first got it I think I took it apart to look at it, then mounted the radio into the cooler rack till the rumored GSOC would come out. That was 5 years ago. My desk has a Yasue 991a on it now and the g90 is in my go box. 73s to you also and keep doing what you're doing.
I bought one of these recently. Also due to Walt's influencer. It works really well. I previously used a Lab599 TX500 but it was too complicated to connect to and it was an odd shape. The TX500 had gone up in price so much I got most of my money back when I sold it. I was able to buy the G90, a battery pack and solar charger with the money . GM4SVM
I have one from amazon, returning it to get the current radioddity deal, radio, cooling stand , interface, and spare parts kit. Good little radio and the sweet spot between QRP and a 100 watt radio.
This is a great deal. It is nice to get the entire package deal for the cost of the radio. I have been impressed with the G90 and your right it's nice having the 20 watts. 73s.
When I was shopping around for thr G90, I always like to do some homework to try and find the best deal and in the case of Radioddity, the bundle deal seemed good. However, after doing some research I finally bought my G90 from R&L which had no shipping or tax. As for the accessories, I ended up getting the cooling fan from HRO and lastly the DE-19 from Raddioddity. In the end, I figured save roughly $60.00. While saving a few dollars doesn't seem like that much to some, I find that doing it this way has saved me a lot over time.
I too recently bought the G90 and have yet to get it out in the wild to see what it can do. Since getting into Ham Radio in 2016, I have yet to find my niche simply because I like to experiment with different aspects of the hobby which lately has been making random wire antennas and digital modes. Having a background in computer technology, I enjoy interfacing radios and computers so that I can pass what I learn along to others. Great unboxing video and welcome back to the hobby. By the way, I too enjoy following Walt's videos.
Funny you mention computers. I teach high school students Cyber Security and Advance Cisco Networking. I am more into CW, but I might try my hand one day in FT-8? Thanks for watching, and 73s.
@@MyHamRadioJourney While I don't do POTA or SOTA for that matter, I do like to occassionaly get out to my local park away from all the QRM in my neighbourhood to makes some contacts. I've done the FT8 thing for a while but soon tired of that. Now I want to get into JS8Call which is sort of like PSK31 or Olivia but better. In short, no matter what rabbit hole I decide to go down in the future, I want to have the gear I need to do it.
Hello Jack, I just happened upon your video. Very well done. Glad to see you are still active on the radio. POTA is great fun. We will have to chat. 73 Stan NX3P
Hello Stan, I am just getting back to the hobby after about 20 years. I went to a WACOMM meeting, and seven people were in attendance. I am glad I went. I picked up a lot of information on EFHW antennas and met some new Hams. We will have to catch up after all of these years. Thanks for watching, and I hope to chat again soon. 73s.
The Xiegu G90 is in my opinion the best option in their lineup due to the balance in price to performance. Some things I point out as a CW POTA operator- the CW speed value isn’t 100% accurate. I find that I have to change it by plus or minus 1 WPM to get it spot on. Also, I recommend you get yourself a memory keyer like the ultra pico keyer from HamGadgets to use with the G90 since it doesn’t have a memory function. 73 from KM4CFT
Thanks for the keyer tip. I purchased one from Amazon, and it is getting returned as a very bad unit. I will be ordering one of these keyers today. Thanks for watching and 73s.
Ray-dee-odd-it-tee - it's not too hard to pronounce. :) I love my G90 - it's rock solid, the tuner is truly amazing, and it works great portable as well as in the shack.

Walt is great, love his work. I also got a G90 because of him and will be giving it a workout over next 10-12 days on a road trip.
