Hi Nora, that first purl stitch is loose because of the extra yarn introduced when moving from knits to purls. My favourite way of avoiding that baggy purl stitch after working the cable is this: 1. Work the purl stitch. 2. Take the yarn to the back as if you were doing a K1P1 rib and tug the yarn . You will feel the excess yarn being pulled through. 3. Move the yarn to the front and continue with the purl stitches. Nice and simple and takes a nano second to do. Loving the show as always

Yes, I’ve recently started doing what you’ve described, and it’s working well. I learned it from Suzanne Bryan in this video: ruclips.net/video/ravgF2nmc5I/видео.htmlsi=i4bw04EUH4HzuPGs

I’m so happy I got to meet you in person today! Didn’t get to watch before RB today. I’ve been watching since the beginning and you’re as lovely in person as you are during your episodes. Cardi is even more stunning in person. 😍 you make a good case for Lambs Pride 😂

I love your philosophy about not taking the knitting too seriously and embracing that our knits are not "perfect".....and yet they are PERFECT in their handcraftedness. I think as knitters, we can tend to get a little obsessive about it. Which takes away a lot of the joy. Your message is a good reminder that we knit because we love knitting and the pride of making special things with love. We don't knit because we "need" a sweater really.

Great episode as always, and your cardigan is gorgeous! For the button loops, you might try the long tail crochet cast on (aka long tail crochet icord). I stumbled across this by accident on RUclips, and as a crocheter first, my mind was blown at how easy this crochet technique is! Fiona Meade and the Snugglery both have tutorials each done slightly differently…I find it’s a little finer looking than single crochets over a chain, and I’ve used it for hanging loops on face scrubbies and wash cloths. I like that it has mirrored v-stitches top and bottom, it has only one tail, and to keep it from skewing, I sew the loop closed first before attaching to my project. There are other easy crochet cords that would also work and tend to be tighter and finer than the chain start that you used. Fun to discover other solutions, and this cord also makes a really lovely starting edge on crochet projects as an alternative to a chain start!

You aren’t the only one to notice a difference in the shades of brown! As soon as you held up the third ball of yarn I was like yep, so much better. Good choice!

The new brown yarn is perfect! And the resourcefulness to use the first brown on the inside is such a great idea. Excellent work as always! 👏🏻

Love your videos, due to my short attention span I have a hard time watching 30 minutes on an FO no matter how exciting (me problem). I assume that there are others out there who love seeing what you are making that have attention spans similar to mine. I am mentioning it, in case it is feedback that is of any use to you. My current solution is to fast forward to the next item when I lose focus. You are wonderful and talented, I will continue watching you and your wonderful creations.

For the button closures, I have done a two stitch icord with integrated “buttonholes” that are right on the edge of the button band and are very sleek. Kate Davies uses them in her Carbeth Cardigan.

For the loops...if your main yarn is multiple strands, seperate a few strands and use a smaller kneedle. Like if it's 6 strands srperate 2 or 3 for how ever many inches you used for one of your crochet loops. Then you have your same yarn at a different thickness. I hope you havr fun at Rhinebeck! Cant wait to hear about it!

Nora...challenging you to 13 minutes a day on your Sand cardigan. Keep it in a basket not in a bag so that it is ready at any moment. Put a timer on and get it done. You are going to be SO happy once it's finished. And you really are so close. Or at least 13 minutes a day every other day. You've got this!

Another option for waistbands with elastic is to seam down the knitted band (or finish however) but leave a few stitches unfinished, which will leave a gap/hole. Then pull the elastic through that gap, pull both ends of the elastic out of the gap and sew them together, then finish those last few stitches. Very similar to how an elastic would be inserted on a sewing project.

I've been using that same trick of seating the first purl stitch in the opposite direction to tighten up the first purl stitch on the square neck camisole that has 3x3 ribbing. It's working really well for me.

I recently won a copy of Memory Lane. It is indeed stunning. I am so excited. I don't know which one to make. That will be next year, though. You are much more productive than I am. But, I sure love the process, too. Enjoy Rhinebeck. I look forward to your report.

Have fun at Rhinebeck! Having some FOMO over here on the West Coast of Canada...
Your Beatrix turned out gorgeous! The colour is stunning! I think I would like to make one too. But for myself I would want to avoid the gap. Do you think it would work to add on a smaller double knit button band on either side for regular buttons/button holes? I definitely wouldn't want to lose the skinny cables.
Great decision to get the perfect yarn for your test! Looks so good now. I have used different yarn on the inside a few times when the main yarn was a little too rustic. Works amazing!

Alternative loop ideas (to get thinner look): use speciality ribbon; use fabric where you make a tiny tube (like piping on upholstery items) & lastly, if you want to use same yarn, create a 2×2 stitch i-cord.

    • @CrazyMomma007
      @CrazyMomma007 9 часов назад

Oh, and what about using the yarn to braid a flatter, thinner loop similar to how a friendship bracelet is braided?
