Nah sorry you're wrong here. It's not about the battles but the lack of quality storytelling and dialogues..Also there is no real scope behind it. It's just 2 places; the council rooms of black and of green. GoT had much more scope
You kind of forgot most people's favorite scene from season 1 was an old man struggling his way to the throne in defense of his daughter, no action, just beautiful storytelling. That's not what we got this season, we got Alicent offering Aegon's head to Rhaenyra and asking her to come away with her to essos in one of the worst scenes I've ever seen. I don't care that there's not much action, I care that the political drama we get is bad.
@@Fireground42 I did read it, but your strawman of "old king gud" does not hold up when the only thing you can think of to criticise is something that happened in the last episode of the season.
@@Yannis-ms4vl The only straw man was you telling me to go watch more dragon clips on repeat, acting as if I was just watching only for the dragons. If you weren't arguing in bad faith, you'd acknowledge I was using that as an example of how people genuinely enjoy good character moments when they're executed right, no action or dragons required. There are plenty of other bad scenes, both secret meetings were bad, everything about Rhaena and Sheepstealer is bad and doesn't fit with the book canon at all, Daemon could have had a good arc but he required a literal deus ex machina in the form of a vision to decide to bend the knee to Rhaenyra which hampers character moment they were going for. I can keep going, but I sincerely doubt you have any good points to make about the show since you haven't made any yet.
@@Fireground42 I get it now, you watched some youtube clips of Fire and Blood and now you're complaining that the show isn't the same. If you wanna pretend to be a book fan, that's fine, but it was never going to be the same. No need to yap so much about nothing when all you say boils down to a single issue.
I respectfully disagree the lack of battles is the least of the problems I know they'll happen eventually I'm just not feeling the story telling GOT had me interested even without the battles something house of the dragon personally has not done for me.
Comparing HOTD to GOT isn’t a fair comparison to me. Majority of GOT was based on 5 complete books with some of the greatest dialogue ever written. And from the POV of multiple characters throughout the story. HOTD is based on a historical textbook with little to no dialogue written nearly a hundred years later by someone who wasn’t even there. Those POVs gave GOT the good fortune to be able to tell multiple stories while also keeping in tact the central goal of whose cheeks will warm the Iron Throne. HOTD has one story. A civil war between family members
i agree with you, the hate on season 2 has not been warranted. Granted, the second half wasn’t as good and it’s fine to point that out and have constructive criticism. But i don’t think we should ignore all the good things the show does and make it all about what they didn’t do . As a fan of the show i can say i was expecting more with the last 4 episodes but there was still so many good moments and i can’t wait to watch them over again! even when the show is at a low point, it’s still amazing in my opinion.
