And... that was a live performance. No auto tune, no ear mikes, just pure talent
I used to watch his t.v. show. All of his performances were live concerts for his studio audience. Orchestra live, reactions live, his incredible singing live and on fire!!
What has auto tune got to do with anything? I doubt you know what it is.
@@ngc-fo5te actually, I do know what auto tune is.
@@ngc-fo5te Bit of an assumption.
@@ngc-fo5te it has everything to do with it! It is evident the man can sing!!! Some vocalists sound good with auto tune but they suck live.
Tom Jones even snaps his fingers cooler than the average person…
Ha ha SO true! (I'm 61)
Perfect 10....gorgeous
Mr video ur something else I enjoy ur way of being
Tom Jones was an R & B singer at heart. Amongst his idols, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, James Brown.
😄😄
"Music has no color. That's probably why it's in B&W." Yeah, that says it all, don't it?!
No, colour wasn't available in UK til early 70's, if you were rich, i had B&W tele in the 80's
No, b&w was the norm here in US back then
Okay, I am well aware of the history of B&W television! The point of the quote, which Mr. Video said, not me, is the first part, "Music has no color."
This was mid 60's
If only the whole world thought this way.
It's not the weed dude - he really was that good. Tom brought soul to the UK. Thanks to him we had The Animals. He's a legend. That performance gives me goose bumps to this day.
48 year old white guy here and to look at me you'd think we'd have nothing in common, but here we both are sitting on our couches smoking weed and yelling "sing it Tom!".
The best comment ever!!!! ❤
So, let me tell you a little story. A 68 year old white women, sitting on her couch chilling, enjoying a killer doobie and watching Mr. Video catching some Tom. Then I see Sidney's post and the story goes " a black man, a white man, and an old white woman sit on a couch one day and , "...........LOLING !!!!!

@ShariSez1 oh yeah I send those to my Mom who is 73 YO. I got in trouble back in the early 70s on bring a record day. I brought his single "What's up pussy cat" That was inappropriate back then.
he saw the shimmering light of lust in yer window. now he's burning down the house
Yes he can.
He was DEFINITELY a player!!
Also, Elvis loved and respected him!
All the girls and ladies swooned over him. He was so handsome and had.... that voice. I'm glad you liked it. Have you listened to Johnny Mathis? He is a man of color, with the voice of an angel. And we all loved him too. So handsome! One great thing about being 64 years old is that I grew up with some of the best music in history.
Yep. Same here...I'm 68.
I’m 64 and grew up with the same 👍 We grew up with what REAL music was to the ears. 😆
Oh I used to love love love Johnny Mathis 💕♥️! “Misty” and do not forget Nat King Cole. I was just a little kid, but I knew pure refined talent. For some reason, it’s just not around today that much 🙁
@@nancywatkins5836 63 here and agree with you
I am 69 and we really were lucky to live during those days.
You’re such a character man!! Honestly I could probably just watch your commentary and expressions without seeing or hearing the video you’re reacting to and still be totally entertained! Awesome reactions bro, thanks! Btw if you’re looking for an even more soul powered performance from Tom Jones check out “Delilah” 1968 / 1973.
This home boy is a rapper! Tom Jones really left a impact, on him! It really knocked him over! The look of amazement!
Tom Jones, the man Elvis thought was the best singer of his generation.... praise doesn’t come any higher than that
Right? Have you heard Tom's Elvis story he told to Conan? It's everything lol

@@crystalmorris215 Him and Elvis were good friends.
He's 80 and still sings that strong.
@Dan Thomas I know right? 😬
This is no trick.Tom had a completely natural voice, without training.
Before his singing career took off he was a coal miner in Wales in the U.K.
He had some vocal training. My great uncle taught him in Pontypridd. He wasn't really happy with his sustained notes. My Dad went to the same School as Tom.
HAS! He’s still going strong!
His training was being welsh surely. 😁
take a moment to appreciate how off the charts phenomenaly awesome his backing band was..
Tom Jones is an elderly Welshman now- and he can still sing the birds out of the trees ;)
Average white boy from a Welsh Coal mining village who has the voice of a God
Don't sleep on God. Wait til' we hear the chorus of angel choirs and perhaps even Jesus sing a tune one day? :)))))
Exactly Elvis might have had the title King but Tom was the God of music and a fellow welshman

What's really amazing is, he still has the pipes at 80 years old now. Hes a coach on The Voice UK and not long ago done a duet of this with the son of the man that wrote the song. It was fantastic!
Yes, I saw that episode & Sir Tom can still belt out this song. He has not lost a beat! Still amazing!

I seen that duet amazing i grew up in 50s singing lonnie donnigans songs then he wrote that song for tom and along comes peter singing his dads song with now sir tom jones does not get any better than that x

Run a little water Silvi, Puttin on the style ( my favourite) Cumberland Gap and another favourite ( especially as I drive dustcarts) My old mans a Dustman!
@@bernadettecrawford3656
Lonnie Donegan wrote and recorded this classic in '62, & Tom Jones sang it in '67, & had a hit with it, but it certainly wasn't written 'for Tom'!
Tom Jones made clear to absolutely everybody that theres levels to this shit. No matter who you are i dont care you cant sing like this. Period. His Tone, Volume, Soul, Rasp, Control, Talent just everything is unmatched. UNMACHTED. And this was live with zero technology involved whatsoever.
Perfect!
I wonder why millenials are amazed whenever they hear how amazing singers of the past, like Tom Jones, sing. Your parents and grandparents knew them.
Honestly, most of these "reactors" are "people of color". During this musical Reconnaissance era (1964-1974), they were taught not to engage in "traditional" American culture. I will be happy to take anybody on who wants to argue this point.
I'd never understood, why women loved Tom Jones. First time seeing this, and NOW, I see why!! ❤
Same 🤣. I’ve always thought he had a nice voice, but seeing him young and good looking, I can see the charisma and appeal here
We all had a crush on him back then. lol
Oh yeah! I was just a kid when he was big, yet I could see his appeal! He was a sexy man!
It is known that he is also "blessed " between his knees and his navel if you get my meaning......
Grew up with my mom listening to him on her turntable. She was crazy about him.
Welsh men can sing! Choir singing is a national passion. He can still hit all those notes in his 80's too. Legend!
Hell yeah ...saw him on the voice...loved it!
Yeah, the Welsh are famous for their singing.
Oh those Welsh men’s choirs are out of this world. So beautiful.
My dad's favourite was Myfanwy sung by the Treorchy male voice choir. I wonder what Mr V might make of that!
Not quite, he has by his own admittance said that he's needed to lower the key on some songs. It's perfectly natural as your voice ages.
My mom would watch his weekly show, and he would sing rock songs and loosen his tie, open his shirt, start to unbutton it down while he sang. It was too much
delighted to have missed that !
I’d have been one of the women throwing my knickers at him!!
He is now 81 years old and a judge on the uk's 'voice' and he can still sing with more power than 99% of the population.
Jones the Tones.
He grew up not far from me, in a small poor Welsh mining village. Hes never forgotten his roots . I love the way the young people today are so great at recognising good music regardless of how old it is. Great reaction!! From someone who knows his stuff
About 20 years ago, my late father was having a pint in the White Rose pub in Mumbles, Swansea with his mates and watching the rugby (Wales vs Scotland) when Tom joined them! My dad said he stayed for the game, bought his round and was completely 'normal', even down to his Welsh accent. Good bloke, my dad said.
hi there Valley girl! if you grew up not far from Ponty you live within a few miles of me! another Valleys girl here. oh and I was a teen when Tom was learning his craft in the local workmens clubs! and gaining his 'reputation' with the ladies at the same time!!!

Our lovely Tom. Knighted by our dear late wonderful Queen. Sir Tom.
“Is it in the weed?” lol Your reactions are brilliant especially on this video. You always make me laugh and your singing voice is perfect. Thanks for always making my day.
The weed "dumbs him down" in some ways, however it also amplifies some of his senses in other ways. I appreciate him much for his interpretation of these great songs.
You so right, music has no color. Everyone listen to this wise man.
music has lots of colors, all of them worth listening to, just like people. :) -- edited to add smiley face so you'll know i wasn't, like, mad disagreeing with you. friendlier. lol
I agree 100% Colors and Flavors. I play music myself. Totally understand. It's nice to appricate all music, its like expression from the soul. Thanks
It shame to say that. He should have said he wanted to sound like an individual rather a race or color. But I was trying to encourage people not to look at color rather the artist. But I agree there's a difference with music over the ages. But that makes music great and relatable.
@@davidp.777 I agree music has no color but back in the 50's and 60's it. Especially for people of color. I know I lived through it
Sir Tom Jones has a incredible voice..
David P. I understand what you mean. I am African American and when raising my children, my daughter was teased at school for liking country western music. I told my children music has no color. I did not want them to feel that they could not listen to all types of music. The style and artist may be associated with certain people, but music is music.
Tom Jones is the singer of Carlton (Fresh Prince) favorite song “It’s Not Unusual” which gave us the Carlton dance.
Sir Tom Jones, from Wales, has an iconic voice; which is why he was a judge on the Voice UK. 😊👍
He’s 81 years old now & STILL Amazing!!🥰
One of the greatest of all time... and at 80 he's still putting it out there.
81 NOW! STILL GOING!
Tom Jones has that same quality of singers that came out of Motown, Atlantic, Stax/Volt etc. There is power, control and emotion in his voice in the most natural of ways. He is just a naturally gifted and brilliant performer.
Watch a woman react to this performance. She'll MELT.
Yep, I know I did 🤣🤣
You know what is more astonishing: THIS IS LIVE
He was only 27 yrs old here - so suave & debonaire with such a smooth, melodic yet powerful voice... I was born the year this came out. As a little kid I remember my mom, aunties, their friends, & hell, even their mothers all and I mean ALL of them had huge crushes on Sir Tom Jones. Whenever he came on the TV, they would all crowd around it & get all giggly like a bunch of school girls. It was funny how they'd yell at us kids (or the husbands) to keep the noise down so they could hear him sing. :-)
Elvis Presley was a fan & close friend, often saying that Tom's voice was the best he's ever heard. In fact, Tom's nickname is "The Voice". He recently celebrated his 80th b-day. He can still belt out the songs & was still doing shows until all this stupid COVID business became a reality...
I remember watching clips of his concerts & all the women were either fainting & passing out onto the floor or throwing their panies on stage. As a kid, i didn't understand what was driving these ladies so crazy to strip off their underwear to toss them and their hotel room keys at his feet. Now I do understand - LOL! Ok, you must now check out, in this order - "Delilah" and then "Green green grass of home" - seriously dark/deep lyrics, but Tom sings them so beautifully that you forget what the songs are actually about. :-)
For some lighter, more upbeat tunes check out She's a Lady, It's not unusual, & KISS (his cover of Prince's hit song with the British band, Art of Noise).
Oh ! Please don't mention him. He made me go the Doctors for the first time in 30 years.....
I said to THe Doctor " Doctor I go to sleep and start singing THe Green Green Grass Of Home in my dreams and the next night I start singing Delilah "
" Is this common, Doctor ? "
He said " Well , It's Not Unusual"....

I love watching these old videos where the artists just poured it out, live, no straining, no fakery. It makes you realize just how much tinkering is done on albums now, & how many artists wouldn't have made it back in the day because they depend on that.
DIANA, YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THAT! IN THE STUDIO, ENGINEERS CAN TAKE A SOUR NOTE ON THE RECORDING OF INSTRUMENTS AND ADJUST IT TO BE PERFECTLY IN TUNE! NOT SURE ABOUT THE VOCALS THOUGH! LIVE THEY CAN TWIST ANYTHING AND GET BY WITH IT! JUST ASK JIMMY PAGE ON HIS LEADS! THANKS FOR BRINGING THAT UP!
I saw Tom Jones live 6 years ago, it’s no trick and even at 74 years old (at the time) he could sing this song exactly like this!

It was in regard to his opinion on Bix and whether the white jazz musicians could play. He stated it again just before his death in regards to the advent of rock, and the coming of jazz styles the like of Thelonius.
I love his little bow of appreciation to the crowd at the end. The early Beatles used to do that too. CLASS. Anyways....The incredibly talented Tom Jones was a Welshman of humble beginnings. He was a swoon-worthy Hottie with a voice sent from Heaven above.
