  • Wondering how to register a vehicle with interstate plates on it in NSW?
    This video explains the process.
    I recently bought a van in QLD and decided to transfer the rego over to NSW. I share the process and everything I learned in this video.
    Oh, in this video I mentioned the "pro-rata refund" from the old state. Well, it turned out that I got a refund of just under $100 from QLD, which is better than a punch in the face 😂

    To check the price of anything that you might need to improve the look, feel and comfort of your van, take a look at Amazon Australia (affiliate link):

    Just moved from Brisbane to Sydney, and looking at what to do. This has been really helpful.
    (Hopefully I don't pay much for blue slip as I just bought a new car last September)
    Handy tip on the CTP insurance application without NSW rego.
    Cheers mate! This has been helpful.

    Mostly correct info. The $66 blue slip fee is set and can not vary. It’s NOT a teaser as you say to get you in the door. Cars without issues ONLY costs $66. You buy crap you need to get it fixed

      Are the additional fees he talks about for finding the problems or fixing the problems? Could you fix the problems yourself and get it reinspected? Cheers

      Quotes to repair are normally for free when the issue is obvious. If there was going to be labour involved to determine an issue the mechanic would charge for the labour to investigate the issue. Yes you could fix the issues and then go back and try and get a blue slip a second time

    • @Coffeeratgaming

      @@nointernetdinosoursgame2351 its a quote to fix the issue something to keep in mind is if h can find someone who only does inspections and does do repairs u may have a better time as they will be less in centivised to add non issue as a requirement for repairs

    You pay the $66 and then it passes or fails. If it fails, the mechanic has to list the problems (faults). You can then drive the car home, repair it yourself and then return. As long as you've done the repairs, it will pass.
    edit: From the NSW rego website (RMS)
    Failed safety checks
    If your vehicle fails a safety check, you need to make the repairs before you can renew registration.
    If you complete the repairs within 14 days and take the vehicle to be reassessed at the same AIS station, no extra inspection fees apply. If you repair the vehicle after the 14 day period ends, you need to pay another inspection fee.

    Everytime you go to a mechanic for anything they've got you over a barrel. Before they start their "inspection" the least they can do is lube up their glove well beforehand.

    My question is this what if it comes with the QLD plates ready
    Do I hand them in to NSW service office when it’s time to pay for the new rego
    I plan on buying a car and driving it back to NSW

    • @vantelligence6478
      @vantelligence6478  Год назад

      Yep, the NSW team will ask for your QLD plates and will take care of sending them back for you. You get a pro rata refund for whatever rego is still remaining in QLD, minus admin fees

  • @quicksticks8155
    @quicksticks8155 2 года назад +1

    Hey! Wait, I thought the pro-rata rego from QLD goes back to the previous owner? So it goes to the buyer? Also, what about the "proof of entitlement" - what did you show them for that?

    • @vantelligence6478
      @vantelligence6478  2 года назад

      The refund goes to the QLD rego holder (seller if you’re buying from interstate, otherwise you if you’re bringing it in yourself). I just showed them the VIN number on the QLD rego papers showing that I am the owner ✌🏼
