    Great video mate. And great choice on the car. I just bought an outlander a week ago and loving it 👍 I’m actually an Aussie but lived in Glasgow from the age of 13-39 and came back in 2017. Glad to see you came here with attitude of fitting in over here. Nothing annoys me more that seeing people wingeing about how Australia isn’t like the UK lol . So all that I want to say is welcome 👍

      Thanks bud. I agree, things here aren't the same, but that part of why we moved in the first place. The car is ace too

    I think you chose your car really well, at a very good price point, and the reasons for going through a dealer made perfect sense. One major difference between NSW and Queensland is the former's insistence on annual roadworthy checks. I think you summed up the Queensland attitude very well; why would you want to drive an unroadworthy vehicle? Once you start venturing away from Brisbane, you'll appreciate the extra ground clearance and definitely the large boot space of your new car. When that starts to happen, you'll also appreciate things like aircon and cruise control, because Queensland is utterly huge compared to the UK. Don't try and travel to Birdsville in it, though--it's the wrong kind of 4WD for the 'real' outback.

      Just googled that place, I can safely say I won't be venturing there any time soon!

    Just a point of note, the third party insurance on your rego is only for injuries.
    It doesn't cover property damage.

    • @ThatJohnstonLife
      @ThatJohnstonLife  2 года назад

      It shocks me how many people only use this insurance

      Yeah crazy, but it's better than the British system where people will just drive completely uninsured because they can't afford the sky-high premium.
      And also allows you to lend your car to anyone.

    Thank you so much for making all of these videos. It's super helpful to hear your family's real story vs. trying to Google all the things one doesn't necessarily think of until you're already there trying to figure it out.

    Someone lied to you about a Mitsubishi being the most Aussie car you can get. That would be a car made in Australia like the Holden or Ford products that were built here. Sadly we don't build any cars here anymore.

      Bought a Commodore as my other car, unfortunately not one of the Aussie made ones, couldn't find one with low enough kms 😢

    Outlander is a brilliant car! Ours is not a 7 seater as its a hybrid

    A rego in nz for a petrol car is $107 per year. About 170 for a diesel but our fuel prices are more here and we pay road user chargers on top of diesel only

    Thanks for the great videos, massive help. My firm are looking at sponsoring me to get our family over to Australia. They’re approved sponsors already but was just wondering what the reality is of this with COVID around?

    • @ThatJohnstonLife
      @ThatJohnstonLife  3 года назад +2

      Hey Adam, thanks for watching. I think there is a possibility with getting sponsors and still making it out here, as long as the visa is still with PR you should be fine. Otherwise you will have to wait until the borders open back up, which shouldn't be too long hopefully

    Hey Ross, quick question - when you say you eventually get your UK licence "transferred over" to the Australian one, do you mean they give you an Ausi licence when you present your UK licence (thus keeping your UK licence), or do they take away your UK licence and replace it with an Ausi licence. I'm sure it's the former but just confirming. Many thanks and love your videos!

    • @ThatJohnstonLife
      @ThatJohnstonLife  3 года назад +2

      Just present your UK and they give you an equivalent Aussie one. I still have my UK license
